  1. (More of a "WWYC Be") A team of villains comes to town, each themed in a house of the zodiac (Virgo, Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius... but none of the animal-based figures). During a confrontation, their leader appears, a man calling himself Ptolemy who uses the diversion as the opportunity to use the Zodiac ray on your character! The ray does not necessarily turn you into a figure from the zodiac; No, it evolves you to take on some aspect of an animal (the aspect presumably somehow representative of an aspect of your character). He then selects anyone who might fit the classical zodiac and kidnaps them in an attempt to convince or possibly brainwash them to join his Constellation of Evil. So the questions be: What properties does your character adopt? What animal is it representative of? Does it fit the familiar zodiac? How would you handle the situation?
  2. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Yeh, i wasn't going to bring that up due to the thread's "no snark" rule, but since it's on the table already... I liked the pre-recorded Karma vignettes. I didn't like the "divas frozen in fear" thing. When she comes to the ring and there are 8 girls I figured they'd do a standard squash with her somehow beating all of them (which would have been a bad move; I could see her taking out 3, 4 at the most, just to make her a monster, but let's not get silly). Then she does nothing, and does it on camera for too long. I'm thinking "Can we move on already?" I can't even guess where Vince is headed with this. If it's a repentence thing, he's pulled the trigger on it way too early. If she's insane, that needs to be portrayed better. Maybe she's possessed? In any event, what a waste of 8 divas in a ring. Especially since we don't see Beth Phoenix all that much these days.
  3. Re: Idea to art by Storn. Year 8 The Inside-Out man. His flesh having been removed to prevent spread of a virulent disease, he was sealed in a clear suit of armor. Why clear? Because it looks cool. Okay, there's probably a better reason. I just had the image in my head.
  4. Re: Where is your campaign based? The City of Lazarus is located somewhere on California's central coast. I've been ambiguous about it, as it's direct relation to other cities isn't relevant, since you spend all your campaign time there. Obviously it's home grown. It's the "City of Tomorrow" that failed. Its designer decided, after achieving at everything he ever set out to do, to build Utopia. When it failed, it killed him. The city is incomplete, and those who remain behind constantly alter the leylines and redirect the geomantic energies that were in it. Had it been completed, it's believed it would have harvested energy seemingly from nowhere. Instead, each time the city council approves a new building or an owner tears down his own building, pockets of energy start to build up or are released somewhere, causing all sorts of mayhem. It's also a city of destiny, rumored to be the fabled 5th city of legend whose downfall will take the world with it. Sounds fantsy/sci-fi but it's contemporary superheroic with lots of ideas pillaged from books thrown in.
  5. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Stark Raving Black - Lewis Black. Not as funny as his previous acts. Part of it is tempo, part of it is that I've kind of heard this act before.

  7. Re: Taming the Slayer Don't know where they assessment of Drusila came from. I don't remember Dru doing anything but losing. She was all henchman-y, relying on minions or Spike.
  8. Re: What Fiction Book (other than Science Fiction or Fantasy) have you recently finis Not sure Patton Oswalt's Zombie Spaceship Wasteland qualifies. Chapters alternate between things like an autobiographical tale of being a theater usher to a chapter that's written as if it were "notes" from a studio on how a project should be changed to be more mainstream. It's a strange read, but I think that's why I like it. His stand-up is funnier though.
  9. Re: Champions Beyond [PDF] now available. Those of you who own an iPad: What method do you use to get the PDF on there? Are you synching it through iTunes, e-mailing it to yourself, downloading it from the web/fileshare, moving it across the network using an app of some sort?
  10. Re: Creepy Villain Time I fought that guy! It wasn't easy for our group. And there was ragu everywhere.
  11. Re: Taming the Slayer First, Joss Whedon's head would explode. (If you seen it, it looks like it's pretty close to that already) If it's the River Tam who fought the Reavers, I've got to go with River. If it's the River and Buffy who frequently appear in fan fiction, then the winner is us.

  14. Re: Need a GM ruling Pretty much what I was going to say. Build two halves of the power seperately, give one the "useless vs..." limitation.
  15. Re: Egg McGuffin Mmmm... Omlette...
  16. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone They'd be better off streaming it online.
  17. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone First I've heard of it. What station is it on? I didn't see that in there.
  18. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone I should qualify that I was never really a big Stone Cold fan before. Yeh, he had his moments. But I think the fun part of Tough Enough is that not only do you get to see him speechify them as a whole, criticise their efforts when lacking, and tear them a new one when they fall flat, but you get to see the occasional burst of laughter from him. My favorite of these was when the guy they nicknamed "Skid marks" was called into the ring to take his turn on the exercise and he tripped getting into the ring and Bill Demott immediately shouts NEXT! GET OUT OF MY RING! GET OUT OF MY RING! Close ups of Stone Cold laughing hysterically. This is what he should be doing, because he gets to both play himself and his character.
  19. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone This weekend I caught some of TOUGH ENOUGH. I'd been avoiding it since I wasn't a big fan of the original. Let me tell ya, Stone Cold makes that show. I *love* the segments where he's eliminating someone and he gives them the opportunity to argue back. My favorite had him deciding on the spur of the moment to have the two guys cut promos on each other. So much more entertaining than I thought it would be. As for the wrestlers, I'm not sure they need to go outside the existing business to find a new star, since there are plenty of folks out there busting their nuts to make it already. But Jeremiah and Martin were both very good, and Luke was good when he wasn't taking time out to pat hismelf on the back.
  20. Re: New Product: Sex and Sorcery [rpg supplement] Not sure I'd buy anything with both the the words Sex and Necromancy in the title. I mean unless it's a pop-up book.
  21. Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!) I barely remember dreams. To this point I'm uncertain if this is a bad thing.
  22. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Adolesence - Incubus (New single! Pretty good. Gotta wait two months for the disc though.)
  23. Re: Who's Hunting You? And Why? Since I'm pretty much my GM, I'm not as evil as I should be. I focus more on my player's hunteds than on my NPCs. Anthem has several rivalries with disreputable vigilantes but currently no hunteds. That's fine since I had way to many disad points, which is rare. Uncle Slam is watched by plenty of folks, but his only true Hunteds are the biggies (Viper, Mechanon). All a result of previous interaction. And as the former head of PRIMUS he's a wealth of intelligence they could pry from his head, were they able. Audra Blue has made enemies of several corprations, an online gang, and the Nazi criminal who implanted her cybernetics--who needs to study her to figure out why she survived when the others didn't. I get more creative with my players' hunteds; mine are rudimentary.

  25. Re: Idea to art by Storn. Year 8 Friday. This one needs a touch of background: A long lost exploratory space craft crash landed. To combat loneliness, It's lone survivor took non-essential equipment and cobbled together a robot companion and dubbed it "Friday" after the companion of the marooned literary character Robinson Crusoe. Long after the pilot's demise, the craft is found and the robot brought back to Earth. The figure would be vaguely humanoid, though definitely not symmetrical, and put together with pieces of excess equipment (Like hoses and other pieces of a vacuum, housing from faulty appliances, etc.). I imagine that while he/she has had offers to transplant it's A.I. to a more useful body it declines on grounds of valuing its uniqueness, as taught it by its creator. (Physical description left purposefly vague to allow for maximum creativity.) It is probably employed either as a (skilled) personal butler to a hero, much like Alfred to Bruce Wayne, or possibly a base custodian, not unlike Jarvis to the Avengers.
