  1. Re: How to build your own Iron Man suit — for real I want to see you build that, dude.
  2. Re: WWYCD: The Nightmare on Hero Street Iron Alloy would probably die in her sleep but then discover her long held secret resurrection ability to wake up in the morning somehow not dead but pretty pissed off. She's an only effects the real world kind of gal so unless she'd want to keep dying and then ressurecting every night she'd have to figure something else out quick. After some consultation with her more magic oriented friends she'd then volunteer to go in after the guy. Her newfound "oh wow I can't die...you know...permanently" making her kind of cocky.
  3. Re: Realism vs cynicism The world's reactions to superhumans I agree the views expressed here are very extreme. I think what they express leaves no room for compromise or growth on one side or another. I'm sure a super powered person or two might get in trouble for breaking a no-fly zone (to use the pertinent example) in the beginning but if the laws can't be rewritten to accomodate then the fault doesn't then lay with the super powered person in question, in my opinion. In the end it comes down to common sense. Just cuz you CAN fly doesn't mean you SHOULD fly over airports or military bases, etc, that would lead the non-powered authorities (whom you're supposed to be assisting for the greater good) to take action against you. Just cuz you CAN levitate doesn't mean you SHOULD levitate in public, etc, where you might draw attention to yourself and cause a disturbance of the peace. Obviously if you're levitating for the greater good or you MUST on THIS exact spot right now or the world will end then that's different and can be sorted out later. I just hope that gravitationally challeneged super has enough clout that the authorities will take their word for it, or they have a clout-ridden friend to stick up for them. Anyway I digress. I think there is room in comic stories for the human element. Hell Gotham PD is a great run of books and there hardly any supers in it at all. Everything has to be in moderation, though...including moderation.
  4. Re: What are you playing now? Iron Alloy: My main Champion's character is a multi-formed baby brick who can turn her body into different types of naturally occuring metals and crystals. Each form has it's own special power or ability which makes it unique and useful. Darkness: I only got to play her once but I love the character so much I keep thinking of her as an active sheet. Normal human girl whose body houses an abyssial demon which appears as an ink blot-like stain under the skin of her back. She's angsty, depressed and can't stand exposure to direct light of any source. Her main powers are shadow manipulation and teleport.
  5. Re: What OOC role do you play in groups? I'm generally the cheer leader and the one who will break tangents when/if we get on them. Or I try at least. Honestly I start the tangents sometimes. HA!
  6. Re: What Are Your Hero's Most Embarrassing Moments? Iron Alloy was very mousey and shy before her transformation into a super. She embarrassed herself often just by clumsily handling the male attention she was suddenly getting. She handled it a lot like a kid in a candy shop for awhile, acting very juvenile, until she realized she needed to calm the heck down.
  7. Re: Real life powers... (Adv's vs Lim's) Balance? 1. If you get whatever groups of powers you want say 300pt's worth what powers would you want in real life? (post your sheet) Flight, sonic blasting (a la Banshee, Siren or Black Canary) and a healing aura. 2. Would you want any limitations on your powers? How about power advantages? Limitations to the flight would be within a reasonable altitude since I don't have a closed system of life support. Sonic blasting would be tiring (wouldn't have reduced endurance) and the healing aura would be of limited range and strength (i.e. can't heal motal wounds in one shot but can a bit at at time and/or sustain life until other help arrives). Advantages would be the flight speed could be as fast as I want and the wind I create wouldn't damage me. Healing aura would heal me as well when it's used. 3. Would you want to keep limitations on yourself for balance of your own power? I think eventually I would overcome my own limitations as my understanding of my powers grew. There are some that I'd want to keep in place and others that I wouldn't. Heck if I could heal a mortal wound in one shot I'd do it but then you have to consider the space/time ramifications of 'well what if it was that person's time to die and you stopped it from happening so what have you mucked up by preventing their death?' 4. What would you do if others say you are overpowered, and you having super ability's takes the fun out of there lives.... This isn't about THEM. It's about me and what I've been given. If they have a problem what what I'm doing, provided that what I'm doing isn't destructive and harmful to myself or others, then they can take a flying leap of a short pier. 5. How about government and some people who just want to stay normal not meta & think you should be normal too? See previous answer. As long as I'm helping people and not hurting myself or others then they can have all the opinions they want. That doesn't mean I have to listen.
  8. Re: WWYCD: Dead before your time... Oddly enough due to my charater build this is something that just might happen to Iron Alloy. Initially she'd cry for the loss of her team. They were the ones who first fostered her though the change from plain old Penny VonSaint to Iron Alloy. They are...were like her second family. Then she'd get angry. Really. Really. Angry. She'd muster all the power she could, pray to Ra and assemble everyone she could think of who felt the loss of the other team members as keenly as she did and then strike out against the huge evil that had decimated all she knew and loved. It would be hideiously, coldly efficient. She'd probably die again doing it, but it would consume her and she wouldn't care.
  9. Re: Champions: The "official" comic book I'd definately buy it! I'd also think it would be good to display in comic book stores and in gaming stores next to the Hero section. Maybe initially just in the gaming stores, though, to see how it would move and how the core fans of Hero would respond it to before trying to get the titles more 'main stream'.
  10. Re: WWYCD: One Wish Iron Alloy: Would look down at herself, dressed in her signature costume, and then back up to the genie. She'd give a lopsided smile, saying, "That's very sweet, but I don't need anything. I wish you a safe journey home to your dimension." Darkness: Would be silent for a long time, studying her shoes. The all encompasing hooded cape not moving save to stir with the occasional breeze created by other people milling around, cleaning up the crime scene. Her voice is soft when she finally does speak, the hard edges smoothed, and there is a glimmer of long held emotion in the words, "I wish the light wouldn't burn me anymore."
  11. Re: Is your character religious? Iron Alloy has had to seriously redefine her stance on religion since being imbued with the power or Ra, the Egyptian sun god. Raised a good Catholic this has, understandably, thrown a wrench into the works of her spiritual outlook. She's since been taking things one day at a time, praying to whomever is out there that will listen. Darkness believes fully in the whole demonic, hell, Satan aspect of the Christian faith. She's seen it. It's real. End of story. Other than that, though, she's rather agnostic. A bit too depressed on a daily basis to lift her mind towards spiritual enlightenment, Darkness perfers to focus on her daily routine of survival and stopping crime.
  12. Re: WWYCD: Welcome Divinity? Iron Alloy would blink a few times saying, "Um you might want to check with Ra. You know...the Egyptian Sun God? He's kinda got a stake claimed on this real estate...if you know what I mean. Darkness would peak out from under her hood, ducking back under after all that annoying divine light starts burning, and then sigh. "You want me? Seriously? No really. Is this some sort of joke? Did you not catch the 'abyssal demon housed inside me' part? No? Thought so. I'm going home.
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... "I'm not screwing you over! I'm providing opportunities!" -this heard after one player intentionally blocked another player's plan
  14. Re: WWYCD: Once bitten . . . Iron Alloy can't be turned...this directly from my GM's mouth. Darkness, on the other hand, very much could. A shadow controlling host of a demonic symbiot who is now a vampire too? Oh the ANGST! Luckily she's got a team-mate who is a vampire - or at least half vampire - to turn to.
  15. Re: WWYCD: Harem Comedy from Hell Iron Alloy would shy away, hide in her library at the university and hope her super strong boyfriend would take care of it for her. Barring that, she'd make excuses to go on an extended archeological dig to get her out of the country.
  16. Re: WWYCD: Dumb, Da-Dumb, Dumb, Dumb... Iron Alloy would shake her head and then start checking databases for mind contollers who may or may not have escaped prison recently.
  17. Re: I am so, so old... Hey if you can't teach your kids to HERO then who CAN you teach? I think it's pretty cool they all want to learn about your hobbies! I remember after the poker game at HEROCon Baltimore when you called home to tell your wife that you're to never to go to Vegas. I'm not sure which of your three kids answered the phone but the response of, "It's your DAD" was classic! The game world you've got going sounds like the perfect experiece for them too! They discover things about themselves as they discover things about the world and as they learn more and more about the system and how it works. Bravo! Have fun! Let us know how it goes!
  18. Re: Help Me Populate A Creepy Hotel He's a rather plain looking man with no true distinguishing features. The PC's only see him in the hallway's though. Walking, with his head down, studying his shoes as he plods along. As he passes the PC's he quickly looks up and gives a quick and insincere smile before dipping his head again and moving on. This seems all well and good, rather run of the mill, until they keep seeing him. Again and again. Always walking down the hall, always studying his shoes, always with the brief, insincere smile before moving on.
  19. Re: WWYCD: King Arthur is back *snort* He's dating a NINJA? He'll be fine...
  20. Re: [Character] Exterminax That is awesome! I'd love to know what kind of 'pests' his current contract with Earth specifies.
  21. Re: Musings on Random Musings These days are few and far between, sadly. I hold them as jewels in the crown of my sanity.
  22. Re: Top Signs that you need to rethink your GMing. You doggedly insist the adventure is not overpowered despite the none too suble hints of your RP group. These 'hints' usually involve the PC laying down before the current 'reasonable encounter' with a conjured apple in their mouths so as to speed up the combat.
  23. Re: Politics or not Our standard Champions game has some politics in it but only very lightly. Our team is Federally funded so as such we have a lot of governmental involvement but that isn't the primary focus of our plotlines. We generally tend to assume the current names in the 'real-world' politicians are the same in our 'game' world but the most they tend to add is flavor text to the primary machinations of the next 'super-bad' we're fighting.
  24. Re: WWYCD "super" registration Iron Alloy - Works for a Federally funded super team already so she would probably automatically be 'registered'. Darkness - Tells them to suck off in her blandest yet most intimidating voice possible and fades into the darkness. Her thoughts, if they can FIND me...they an register me.
