  1. Re: Negative Adjustment Powers vs Summoned Beings after the fact I seem to recall in 5edR that summoned beings can "acclimate" to their new surroundings and become immune to banishment by Dispel, either once they're free of performing the tasks required under terms of their summoning, or after a suitable amount of time has passed in the GM's opinion.
  2. Re: Lucha Libre convention game! I've been drawing in Adobe Illustrator since 1987 and I'm still left stunned by his work on those character portraits. That is some amazingly good artwork.
  3. Re: Superheores with Disabilites, a thought experiememnt Oh man, now you've given me the mental image of Alicia Masters finding new applications for the tongs and acetylene torches she uses for metal sculptures...
  4. Re: Superheores with Disabilites, a thought experiememnt IIRC, Ben only weighs about 400 lbs., which probably rules out wicker furniture and bean bags but not elevators, sturdy couches and chairs, or even bar stools. Your point stands regarding finger size and the stares of others, though. I also imagine that the rocky nature of his armored skin means almost no touch sensitivity, and therefore the lack of enjoyment of things like a warm bath, cold rag across the forehead on a hot day, or various... other tactile pleasures.
  5. Re: Unworkable Premises for a Campaign It's a shame we're not all in one location to make tabletop a possibility. It would have been a fun campaign.
  6. Re: Superheores with Disabilites, a thought experiememnt I forget, was the Master of the Flying Guillotine supposed to be blind?
  7. Re: Your "Oh #@$%!" Moment Uh, not so much. It's a description of a type of gay man (young, thin, probably blond, not taken seriously). Derived from "twinkie" if I'm not mistaken.
  8. Re: The Movie Predator 10d6 RKA, Explosion (+1/2), NND (defense is being covered in mud; +1), Does BODY(+1); Extra Time (1 Minute; -1 1/2), OIF (-1/2), 1 Charge (never recovers; -4) 525 Active/75 Real
  9. Re: Unworkable Premises for a Campaign Close, "Too Funky." That's where the dress first appeared to the public. The designer, Thierry Mugler, was also the director of the video.
  10. Re: Unworkable Premises for a Campaign Okay, while doing some drawings the other day I couldn't resist doing one of Super Model in this infamous outfit:
  11. Re: Silly Question: Rita Hayworth's COM? Considering Hayworth was one of the great beauties of Hollywood's Golden Age, I can see an argument for going over a 20 COM into the Legendary column. If one goes by the perfect 10 = 20 pts COM scale, then 19 or 20 would be appropriate.
  12. Re: One Last 6E Preview: The Covers! Hmmm. Missile Deflection with the Side Effect: innocent bystanders get shot instead as attacker screams "MY EYES!!!" and fires blind...
  13. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #8: APG Goodies ThankyouthankyouTHANKYOU! : These have been sorely needed for over a decade. There are complex workaround builds of course (and I've almost gotten used to the Duplication versions of Astral Form vs the earlier Clairsentience build, even though I bristle at the framework-busting Active Point costs involved), but having a simple power that deals directly with each will be so much better.
  14. Re: Decent Character or Too Much Cheese? Is 0 END really necessary? With an Entangle, you only have to pay the END cost on the initial attack unless you want it to be Continuous and keep reinforcing itself. (Though of course, if you want it to be effortless it's an appropriate Advantage.) I'd probably build it as Drain vs. DEX and/or INT instead to allow for partial effect, but I don't think a 2d6 BOECV Entangle is abusive. (Now a humongous one with over 200 Active Points like Medusa has, that's completely broken for a 350 point game... or a 750 point game, for that matter.)
  15. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #7: Damage Over Time and Time Limit Sounds pretty cool. Right now, it takes Uncontrolled at the (+0) level to set a time limit on 0 END Constant powers, right? This sounds like it will be much less confusing and counterintuitive.
  16. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #7: Damage Over Time and Time Limit You laugh, but I have two characters I might buy these for.
  17. Re: Lucha Libre Hero I just got my copies this week, and have been bemoaning the fact that I only have time to skim due to a deadline crunch at work. But what I have read so far is multiple favors of awesome. I particularly love the character write-ups for the heroes and villains. Caveman Cortez! Blonde Martians in gold lamé gladiator armor! Ms. Dr. Frankenstein! I did wonder if I missed an index entry for El Roboto Diablico, though.
  18. Re: Female/Male Super-Forms Something I'd recommend for background is reading Freak Force, a series from Image Comics back in the mid 90s. One of the major characters was a Captain Marvel homage whose current civilian identity was the nurse who'd been present when the hero's original alter ego passed away. There were some interesting takes on a super-heroic transformation that involved switching genders.
  19. Re: My PCs are made of GLASS! I'd say something defensive that's not actually a damage-reducing defense, like DCV-only Combat Skill Levels bought as distoring her location with mental illusions/interfering with opponents' spatial awareness, or maybe psi-based Invisibility, might go over better with your fragile character's player.
  20. Re: Waking up with super powers What kind of powers would you like to have? Flight, and some kind of immunity from the rigors of using it at high speed. What kind of powers would you NOT like to have? Offensive powers. I get too annoyed with people on a daily basis for anything that could easily be used to harm others – Wal-Mart would be a killing field every time I shopped there. Would it matter if only 1 in a billion people had powers vs 1 in 100 million, or even 1 in a million? Not to me personally, though the more powered people the greater the likelihood of someone crazy or homicidal getting powers, or of militaries pressing such people into service. The 1 in a billion, one super per inhabited continent option would probably be best for everyone. Would you tell others? Only my parents. How do you think your life would change? Flying would be the best rush ever. And beyond the joy of just using the power, I'd be able to travel cheaply whenever I wanted and broaden my horizons by visiting all the places I've ever dreamed of going.
  21. Re: Need An Archnemesis If conflict with other offspring of Zeus (whether heroes, demigods, or full-blown Olympian Gods) is in the works for your campaign, you might bring up the prospect of the Erinyes/Furies as long-term nemeses should you end up killing another member of your family. It'd be a dark turn for the story to take (the Kindly Ones didn't tend to stop until their victims were dead or insane), but it could make for a powerful role-playing experience.
  22. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #2: New Combat Maneuvers; Objects As Weapons Given the exponential nature of STR, I might be inclined to allow its use with multiple attacks but reduce it by 5 points for each attack above one. It seems like that would be a good way to simulate someone not being able to throw their full might into both a simultaneous weapon swing and free hand punch, but avoid having a character who can lift 25 tons land two blows no more effective than someone who can only lift 800kg.
  23. Re: Fastest man alive I think the Flashes and Green Lanterns stayed at about their pre-Crisis power levels, while Superman and all the other "strong" characters got a significant reduction. It wouldn't have bothered me to have a Flash edge out the Earth-1 Kryptonians in reaction time and ground speed, so Bart outdoing Emoboy Prime seems right enough.
  24. Re: Superpowers in the Courthouse Yeah, I think having a telepath verify truthfulness or mine information in the courtroom would violate a defendant's right not to incriminate himself, but providing information to the authorities so they can gather evidence the old fashioned way seems much more workable.
