Yeah, give an advanced android the ability to change its own operating parameters and the most dangerous book of black magic on the planet—what could possibly go wrong?

I thought Doctor Strange did an admirable job of making magic versatile in the MCU while also making its use by a given sorcerer small enough scale that it won't overshadow the Avengers and all the other superheroes. Strange couldn't have waved his hands and made the Project Insight helicarriers or Sokovia disappear, but he can do things like astral projection and defensive shielding that aren't in the other heroes' power sets.

No, I'm saying Magic would be something not explainable or measurable by scientific method, sort of like "art" and the thoughts bouncing around your head as you read this.  Magic is, by its very definition, a-scientific, outside scientific explanation and examination. That's what makes it magical as opposed to just some mutant power.

You can think and love and create art without it being uncontrollably random despite being impossible to measure etc.

For me, if magic is just science we don't yet get, it stops being magical.

I think I'd have put Eternity and Death in a tie for the #3 spot on that cosmic list. And there are a LOT of mystical beings more powerful than Dormammu, he's just prominent because he's Strange's archenemy. Pretty much every major demon lord and pagan death god/adversary figure works on about the same level, and Set, Chthon, Gaea, the Vishanti, and Shuma-Gorath have been established as being far more powerful.

If your area has a problem with ticks, keep it around. They're the best way to get rid of them, and thanks to their freaky marsupial biology they have very low risk of carrying diseases like rabies or distemper.

They also tend to be nomadic, so it'll probably wander off in a few days if left alone.

I must beg to differ about the lobster rolls, I'd like them to actually make it to my part of the country before they disappear. Even frozen lobster in a sandwich is better than none at all, and the one I had at Quincy Market was one of my best sandwich experiences ever.

Why do you think that the editors and publishers are male?  I'm under the impression that the publishing business has no shortage of women in it.

Two of those three have sticks for arms. One probably is as far from looking greek as possible.

In fairness, they all have two things in common. I'm seeing a common thread here.

A fast-acting, tactical weapon that can kill your enemy by the thousands while leaving your own people unscathed even if they are standing right next to them is a game changer.  Normally when a conqueror occupies a city the citizens of that city become hostages of a sort.  With Medusa you can quickly kill the entire occupying force within a population center and leave the city residents unharmed.  Indeed the enemy are likely to die so fast that they don't even get a chance to report what killed them.

Also, why would you presume your enemies success?  If I was building a "defensive weapon"  I would want it to defend me so quickly that the enemy never establishes a foothold much less planetary occupation.  So a fast acting WMD that I can use without a fear of collateral damage to my own people would be just what the Dr Strangelove ordered.

And so does Kevin Feige, according to that article.

It pleases me to no end that this interpretation of Captain America has been so embraced by the viewing public, because it puts the lie to the notion that contemporary audiences are only interested in superheroes who are brooding and tortured and ruthless. Steve Rogers in these movies has certainly borne more than his share of pain, and has faced great ethical dilemmas; but his honor, selflessness, and idealism have never wavered. And people clearly respond to that.

It took a little while for Chris Evans to grow into conveying that, but by this point I agree that he nails it.

The MCU series don't suffer from the kind of power bloat that makes it unbelievable that Supergirl or the Flash could be handled.

I realize it's not nearly as prominent or well-known in Western culture, but as it's a personal favorite of mine I'd be remiss if I didn't make a plea for the inclusion of Mongolian and Turkic mythology. With the connection to Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire, and with Shamanism as one of the unusual forms worship takes, I think it could be an interesting and different element to contrast with the other religions.

The Chicago Press translation of Yves Bonnefoy's Asian Mythologies would be a good source for information, as would Primal Myths by Barbara C. Sproul and maybe The Mythology of Horses: Horse Legend and Lore Throughout the Ages by Gerald and Loretta Hausman. Unfortunately, the probable most comprehensive English translation source on the subject, Walther Heissig's The Religions of Mongolia, is prohibitively expensive (the cheapest used copy I could turn up is about $110), but if it's in the library of a local university it could be a great reference.
