  1. Rudeness is generally frowned upon. As for your expectatons: What makes you think anyone cares about your expectations? You certainly don't have any authority to lay down expectations of Storn's professionalism to him, since you don't sign his checks. So, what was the point of the question? I think DOJ doesn't need a Mommy to constantly look out for its interest. DOJ has shown itself to be a big company now, so you can quit pissing on someone's fun for a minute and relax. Steve reads these boards, and can find the pics on the MnM site the same way you did. If you're that concerned, you can send the link to Steve and let him handle it. There wa no need to derail a fun thread.
  2. Ya know, I'd kind of leave it to the person who's profession it is to decide that. Is this a question of professional ethics, or one of copyright? I can't see an ethical problem, since DOJ has repeatedly said that the competition is a good thing, and there's less animosity between companies than there is between fanboys. Supers is a small sub-genre, and all of these companies' products drive each others' sales. As for the copyright issues, I'm guessing that Storn knows what he is and is not allowed to do with his work, considering he's the one who has the contract for that work. I'd also -- and this is just a wild guess -- assume that Storn knows how DOJ feels about such use, having done the volume of work he's done for DOJ.
  3. The direction change sounds like an indirect advantage. It's unexpected, and it could get him around some types of barriers/cover. You'd probably build it as an appropriate attack form (HKA for a sword probably) with indirect, focus for the sword (and a no-focus HA for barehanded use), and with a custom limitation that it must follow a half move (about -1/2, I think). Since we're talking anime attacks, a martial arts multipower for special attacks is appropriate to the genre.
  4. Warehouse 23 ( http://www.warehouse23.com/search.cgi?comp=Hero+Games ) is where I got mine. They have it listed as "on order," though. You can also try eBay.
  5. Not necessarily. If you go the demon/human symbiote route, ala Buffy, then all the demon halves could have some martial training. Remove the high kicking and go for more of a grappling art (good for high STR type vamps anyway) and Western and Eastern arts have a lot of similarities.
  6. My first thought on looking at the assault test video was: It didn't take the guy out. In real life, he's not going to walk up and repeatedly grab her, he's going to just punch her in the head b/c he's very annoyed with the gimmick. I wonder if the thing has a higher setting?
  7. Since the lizard probably doesn't know what a Gunship is, nothing much would happen. =) j/k Technically, you'd use a Major Transform for permanent blinding instead of Flash. Though, since it's an illusion, I probably wouldn't worry about mapping all that out to the FX. I'd just have the critter think it's blinded if the illusion works. (Provided it can think that well...)
  8. So, if you have OHID on your armor (powered up form), and you look different when you're powered up (metallic, or gray sharklike skin), then you get to take Visible on the armor as well? Same thing if you have Armor through a Focus? I wouldn't have thought to tack those one, even though the armor is pretty evident in both cases, b/c it's part of the special effects of the armor, and you're getting points back already by using other limitations to describe the same FX. Some FX call for more than one modifier to describe (or we wouldn't need a huge list of modifiers), but this seems a bit like double dipping to me.
  9. Ah, better! I liked the ending on Winter's piece. Well done on both parts, pretty tough call. Winter was a bit more creative, though, so I might be inclined to call it for him.
  10. Offensive PRE should be a -1/2 lim instead of -1. Not that it makes a huge difference on this character.
  11. Give him less CON, more REC. That'd make him easier to Stun and let him pop up after getting KO'd pretty fast. For the resistance to toxins, buy LS. For the minor cuts healing at combat speed, a low amount of resistant defenses defined as "instant healing." For bigger regen, some regular old vanilla regen.
  12. I don't mind at all. Should be a good topic there, too. Since most of the thread is non-system specific (at least at this point), it might be a good idea to link back to here too. (If you haven't already, I haven't looked on the MnM boards yet.)
  13. http://www.herogames.com/FreeStuff/freedocs.htm Download the Genre by Genre document for some sample characters.
  14. Another thread you may find helpful... http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3210
  15. *bump* I'll fix those errors that Xandarr pointed out shortly. Just giving this a bump for the new folks.
  16. Just keep things simple at first. What genre do you plan to run? If you just want to run something to get a feel for the system, and genre doesn't matter, go with something heroic level, say 50 + 50 or 75 + 75 pts. Build some characters. Run some trial combats. Don't use all the combat rules. Ignore everything marked "Optional." Don't use the Powers rules at first. Once you get a feel for the basics of the character creation and combat systems, start playing with the powers rules. Keep those simple at first, no frameworks, no complicated constructs. Do some trial runs with these new characters. Once you get a good idea of how the basic mechanics work, you'll start to see how the different subsystems are pretty internally consistant. Then you can add in optional rules, and more complicated power constructs a few at a time, until you feel comfortable with them. After a few test runs, things should fall into place. And you can always ask specific questions on the board if looking them up in the books or the FAQ doesn't clarify things. Heck, you can even ask Steve Long on the Hero System Questions board.
  17. Here ya go... http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3304
  18. *Bump* Hey, this seems to come up every week. Maybe we should have Ben make it sticky?
  19. Another possibility is disrupting the energy by shocking the victim's nervous system with an electrical attack. So, either a successful mental power use or electrical attack would be possibilities.
  20. Here's a question: Has anyone seen Supes use his X-Ray vision yet?
  21. Ah! Another cool power: Invisible vs. IR Perception. It's pure comic book logic! =)
  22. I kind of thought she was implying a Bats style intimidation in Savage Time, but perhaps. The perps don't just seize up though like in the comics. Looking forward to the next season. I still have a few episodes to catch from season one, too.
  23. Active Points for the number of powers you can cram in. Real Points for what you pay. For a basic attacks only multi, you probably want to use Ultra slots, which means that you have to allocate all of the AP of that slot against the reserve total. You don't have to use the slot at full power, however. You can also run a couple of small ultra slots at a time, just as long as you don't exceed the AP limits. Example: 20 Multipower: Martial Strikes, Restrainable (-1/2) u1 6d6 Hand Attack, Restrainable (-1/2), HTH (-1/2) u1 4d6 Hand Attack, Autofire (+1/2), Restrainable (-1/2), HTH (-1/2) u1 4d6 Hand Attack, x1.5KB (+1/2), Restrainable (-1/2), HTH (-1/2) (Restrainable sucks so buying some STR outside the multi, just for Grabs, Escapes, and Disarms or something would be a good idea. Of course, this has nothing to do with what you're trying to do...) Ok, so this multi has a 30 AP Reserve. Each slot is 30 AP. Since you have to allocate the whole slot against the reserve, you'd have to use the whole reserve. However, the Restrainable limit goes against the Reserve cost, making it 20, and the Restrainable (since it's on the reserve) also applies to all the slots, along with their limitations, making them cost 1 point. 30 AP divided by 2, for 15, x .1 = 1.5, round in your favor to 1. The advantages of the slots can't put them past the 30 AP in the reserve, though. Hope that helps.
