  1. Classified Ministry of Defence documents found at bus stop https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-57624942 The one place I forgot to look.
  2. Yeah but then what do you fight about when you aren't fighting about sports or politics?
  3. Gimme dat old time religion It's good enough for me
  4. Watched through the trailer twice and still didn't spot Nathan Fillion. I think his role was Arms Fall Off Boy. https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Arm-Fall-Off-Boy_(Pre-Zero_Hour) I've been looking forward to hearing him say whatever catchphrase they come up for him.
  5. There's no information about this product either on their own website or their YouTube channel (which consists of less than 2 minutes of video total). This particular video is a series of clips strung together. If it is real and not a total fake, they deliberately didn't show a successful takeoff, sustained flight, and successful landing all in one flight. For a flight vehicle with drone-type blades which we know works (can go back and forth, maneuver, etc. and can stay in the air for more than a few seconds), it takes ten blades the size of those. Of course that device has got a minimal fuselage and a place where the pilot can sit.
  6. We could have hoagie's heroes. But many people say they can't be beat.
  7. I believe the saying is "Lead, follow, or get out of the way." But come to think of it, this might not be the exact scenario that saying was intended for....
  8. Not before he does his "Ole, ole ole, ole, ole!" soccer chant again. That was the best part of the previous movie.
  9. Then shouldn't slaughtering them give him even worse terror and loathing???
  10. I used to read articles from American Magic the Gathering players on the Pro Tour as they traveled to Japan and struggled to find something which was at least vaguely edible between rounds and in the evenings after a grueling day of playing. I also read the occasional article from a Japanese player on the Pro Tour in an American city having his adventures in American cuisine and snacks. The impression I was given is that it's much easier for a Japanese person to adapt to American food than the other way around.
  11. I think a sixth grader wrote that article and that it was published without the editor glancing at it. The family hired Derrick Tyler to fight the arrest. Presumably Tyler is a lawyer but the article never says. Maybe he's a private investigator or a Ghostbuster. As an example of the mess of an article, the reporter quotes Tyler as saying, “We will vigorously defend all charges and vigorously pursue all available legal measures against uneased, unjustified torture received by the officers he was involved in.” So if we're to believe the reporter, the officers received torture from some unidentified individuals and Tyler will be defending the officers. Also Tyler will be defending the charges which the officers are bringing (hey, those charges are completely valid) rather than defending the kid against those charges. Also five times the article refers to the local police as being soldiers.
  12. I think the other letters got together and eliminated him: no more Q.
  13. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, tired of being the only public face of the church, decided the church should host a huge festival celebrating all things Mormon. After all, things like Burning Man have been a popular yearly event for decades so a more godly Burning Man without an actual Burning Man sounded like a good idea. The governing body of the church went along with the idea until the choir started selling t-shirts for the event. The shirts read "This Is My Mormon Fest Destiny".
  14. Hmmm...I think he lives in Utah. If we picked a place half way between us...how does the Bunny Ranch in Nevada sound as a field of dishonor?
  15. "Giuliani suspended from New York bar" https://www.politico.com/news/2021/06/24/giuliani-new-york-bar-suspension-496001 Reports say Giuliani was worried when he saw that headline until he realized it wasn't talking about one of his favorite bars.
  16. I, sir, am an idealist, not a radical! I would challenge you to a duel with salami swords but I have this trick knee, you see, which prevents me from duels on a field of honor.
  17. Yeah, Rachel Maddow covering this last night was especially brutal. The organization which pulled the stunt basically wants mandatory comprehensive federal background checks before gun purchases, no exceptions. Maddow pointed out that if the gun rights advocates had done even a cursory background check on the fake school that they would have easily discovered the school was a fake, the school website was a newly-created fake, there were no students, and the award that they were to receive had never existed or been given out to anyone in the past. The people pulling the stunt didn't try to cover their tracks or make it hard for the targets to figure out it was all fake. They just assumed the targets would fall for it without question. And they did.
  18. Rudy Giuliani’s Law License Suspended Over ‘Demonstrably False’ Statements https://www.mediaite.com/politics/breaking-rudy-giulianis-law-license-suspended/ “We conclude that there is uncontroverted evidence that respondent communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020,” the court found. “These false statements were made to improperly bolster respondent’s narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client. We conclude that respondent’s conduct immediately threatens the public interest and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law.”
  19. Interesting variation on bum fights. I think I could go 40-60 in fights against children with diabetes if they allow me to use my cane.
  20. I tried explaining that to relatives and others during discussions in the middle of the pandemic...with about as much success at convincing people as you'd expect.
  21. Thanks for that much clearer video. I couldn't even see in that first video that the kid's head completely dislodged one of the bricks on the firepit. I can't say I'm familiar with the rules of every police department in the country. But approaching an apparently unarmed "suspect" with your weapon drawn then discharging your weapon into him when you are not under any threat from the "suspect" has to violate some kind of rule. But I guess it's extremely easy to be named "Investigator of the Year" in some places?
  22. I feel like rambling, apologies in advance. I'll ramble until I'm tired of typing or my head is pounding too hard to continue then stop whether I've finished making a point or not. If I try doing it differently, I'll never get anything down. Part One: In the Beginning, there was a Part and and it was single because it was too lazy to join a dating site so it became One. "Orcs" don't have to be dumb, it's just that fantasy orcs have been done that way in the past so that writers and game designers didn't have to think up complex behaviors for them. When I'm trying to come up with an "original" "orc", I try to think of the kinds of races which have been successful allies or opponents in other fiction then describe them in a few words to capture their essence. And sometimes add a few thoughts about how they might work in a fantasy setting. For example drawing from Star Trek there could be... Borg - creatures with magical cybernetic implants who seek to assimilate other magics Klingons - warrior culture with questionable ethics Romulans - smart sneaky bastards who steal everything which isn't nailed down Andorians - four sexes, special sensory powers Denobulans - affable, prone to large group marriages, promiscuous, needs very little sleep per year Gorn - strong, territorial Bolians - their crap really stinks Breen - all of them wear masks so no one knows what they look like, could be anything. They take pains to retrieve their dead. And to track down and kill anyone who has seen one of them unmasked plus everyone they might have talked to Bynar - they're born as twins and spend their lives together. Their connection is almost telepathic. Cardassians - their regimented society is highly militaristic and expansionistic. They place a priority on training superior spies. High heat tolerance, low cold tolerance Ferengi - embodies and idealizes avarice and deal-making, little capacity for long-term planning and will almost always sacrifice long-term advantage for short-term gains, hires only the best mercenaries...except for when they employ only the cheapest mercenaries. Kzinti - race of male warriors with non-sentient females. Highly aggressive, easily offended, doesn't back down or apologize. Looks like large bipedal cats complete with life-sized deadly claws and a rat-like tail. Of course I normally wouldn't limit myself to only one franchise but you get the idea. Notice I didn't talk about their physical descriptions (except for the Kziniti, and that was due to the need to help explain their built in HKA). There's no need for a physical description and it's counterproductive at this point....
