    Fallen Son

Re: Fallen Son Volt - Investigate as best he could. In any case, he would give the child to people he knew to raise, with instructions to watch it carefully. He'd check in every so often. Olorin - Check the child out magically. If, in effect, the child is unholy and irredemable, he'd kill it without any fanfare. (He's a medieval) If not, he'd take Volt's route- with quite of bit of watching himself. Black Tiger - Swear. Then go Volt's route. However, he'd take longer to find parents and would follow this child very closely. Leadman - Investigate (he's a detective), then ask a priest to examine it. Exorcism if necessary in his opinion. Otherwise, go Volts route. Futurian - "Now what the @$ do they want me to do? Kill it? Raise it myself? Gaaa!" Then he'd try to find parents and go Volt's route. Kinda. He'd warn the parents and promptly forget about it unless reminded. Would only check on it when reminded.
  2. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... DND v3.5 Cast of characters: Rowan - female human rogue. Jorvik. - huge (well, very large for human, over 6'6" over 220lbs of muscle) male barbarian. Mordain - Male dwarf paladin. Good oriented group. Quotes in no particular order and without context(mostly). Rowan - "We're going to do the right thing. But can't we be paid? And paid well?" Jorvik - absolutly deadpan after someone said he had the heart of a paladin. "Yes I do." two beat pause "I keep it under glass on the mantle." two beat pause. "Someday I have to give it back." Mordain "I've never seen on orc so bored. Picking his nose while on guard duty. Even managed to keep it in his nose after we shot it dead."
  3. Re: Supers: How'd they get that way (and why do so many of them wear long johns?) Depends. What? You want more? Ok, It does depend. You name an origin, I've used it. Or seen it. Some characters, mine and others. Volt - radiation accident. Actually he accidently drank a nasty chemical then got hit by a lightning bolt. (Hellooo, Flash. Not quite, but close.) Olorin- Training and experience. Non aging and reduced sleep only by magical accident. Black Tiger - Training, gene therapy and a good gene start. Leadman - magical amulet Futurian - Hellooooo! He's from the future. High tech. Others - mutations, alien battle suit, gene alteration, real radiation accidents, just about anything. Mutation is only if I can can up with nothing else unless that is the point. Costumes? Tradition, comfort, utility, whatever. Olorin dresses like a stereotypical medeival mage. Maybe because he is one.
  4. Re: Dr Zero's Art Thread Poison and you. I'm jealous. I wish I could draw half that well.
  5. Re: Wrath Of The Anicent Pharaoh Volt Try to reason with him. Maybe replacement Mummies? Alternate tresure? If not, gather allies and start blasting. Olorin "Undead armies once again. But I like mummies." Other Player: "You like mummies? I thought you hate undead?" Olorin - "I do. But mummies burn soooo well. And I was orginally a fire mage." No reasoning. Lots of fire. Area effect. He's used to fighting undead armies. He'd almost enjoy this. Black Tiger Swear. (He almost always does.) Then get allies and attack as best he can. Leadman See Volt's respnse, but would spen less time negotiating. Futurian "You have to be kidding. What do you need that stuff for? You're dead! You want it for an afterlife? Seems to me you ain't gonna get it. Grow up!" And then gather allies and start blasting (While thinking "Aw crud. No tech to act on. Crud. Crud. Crud.")
  6. Re: How did you handle the change in the Champions Universe between the 4th Ed & 5th
  7. Re: Only You Can... Volt About the only thing unique about him is his moral center, heroism and abilty to inspire and lead - even when he really doesn't want to. That would most likely mean the group is fractured and that is the problem. The main thing that may have happened is that Dr Destroyer killed about 1/10 of the world, and world would be reeling. No, he did do it by himself and it may have not happened, but he destroyed the device that would have done this. Olorin Versatilty is his game. As a mystic with a large VPP if he knows what he is up against, he can be very effective. That is probably what they need. And he probably find out weaknessses if needed and expliot them. As to his main effect on the world right now, probably a demonic invasion has occurred because he was not there to shut the gate before too many came through. If this were it, he'd shut down the gate to prevent reinforcements. Then he'd think about opening another gate. To Faerie. They owe him a favor. Black Tiger About all he could do that they may not is detective work. Can't think why they would need that badly. About the only thing different would be that Louisville Kentucky would be badly overrun with crime and corruption. Leadman They need someone who is full of gloom and doom? Only thing unique about this brick is that he can increase gravity. (TK down only)Almost all differnces in this world be be due to his detective work - mainly in his secret id. Futurian "Uh... You need me? Are you sure? Wait, don't tell me. You have one or more 'Terminators' running around. Ok, if that's it, I'm in!" That would be his big difference. He stopped a Terminator scout basically by himself. Seems he was "destined" to do that. When he thinks about that, he hates it. Good thing he doesn't think too much. (!?!?)
  8. Re: A Normal Tempted With Dark Power... Volt Warn the kid about these kinds of powers. Then help defeat Slug. (if even remotely needed.) Warn the kid he'll be watching if the power was accepted. Since Fairweather had not done anything evil (and if unknown to him) the same would apply to him. Olorin Unless Fairweather were magicaly disguising his magic (!?!?) Olorin would know he was magic, and probably evil. Therefore he'd get his compatriots nearby, fast. In any case, he'd know the magic is dark. "Are you sure about this David? Dark power tends to corrupt, take over or totally supplant you. I won't stop you, but if you act evil, I'll take you down." Then he'd sigh and mutter under his breath "Great. Another Dark Lord. Last time I lost almost all my friends. And my wife." Then to Fairweather: "Ok. I recognize what you are if not who. You have not done anything evil, but I'll be watching. And I've defeated multiple like you before. No threat, just a gentlemenly warning." And then t-port away when Slug is defeated . (after putting the tranformees somewhere safe to be "cured" later. Black Tiger Swear. A lot. "Don't do it kid!" And knowing him, tackle the kid to stop him. He'd bluster a lot to Fairweather, even while thinking "Oh crap. I'm dead." Leadman "NO!!!" And attempt to bat away the globe. Knowing him, he'd miss. Or accidently grab it. Radiation accident, maybe? Since Leadman's powers are from a magical amulet, it could be interesting. Futurian "Why does this happen to me and not mages? Look, kid do what you want, be remember there are lots of superheroes around to take you down if you turn evil. Heck, you could joine the cadre of superheroes if you act accordingly." To Fairweather: "Interesting globe. Dark energy perhaps? Aw, I don't care as long as you do no evil. Have a nice day." And then act accordingly.
  9. Re: Kingdom of Champions 6th Edition? I have the current Kingdom of Champions. I would probably buy the new one in hardback form. If offered only in PDF - doubtful. In order to port it around, I'd have to buy a laptop and lug that around - Unless Kindle could handle it. Then it would be ..... maaaaaybe. Kindle is nagging at my brain and things like that could tilt the balance.
  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I used to play SFB a lot. Actually came up with my own large map stretegy game and wrote a program in basic to aid with it. And long, long ago, on another board that I posted as a Gorn advocate, I was asked to become the official Gorn advocate on that board. Declined. Did not have the time. And I agree, the rules were complex, and I was the one who remembered them the best in my rather obsessed group. Hard to find players that do not take it waaaay too seriously as to the rules.
  11. Re: Missing Airliner Volt- See Clonus response. Fly around the area and look for something suspicious. Olorin - If any character I had could find out what happened, he could. If magic were involved and he got near where it was last noted, he'd know it. With a bit of prep (several hours) he could do a mystic retrocognition. If it went into a dimensional "tear" he could bring them back if the plane was still viable - or the remains if not. He could not easily prevent it from happening, but he could see and hear what happened. He'd then go forward with the info he had. Black Tiger and Leadman are private detectives. Leadman specializes in lost things and people. Both would investigate occordingly; Black Tiger would swear first, of course. Futurian - "Uh... Just because I'm from the future it does not mean I remember this. Or that I am a living viewing screen. I'll see what I can do." He'd go to the area where it was last seen and look around. I'd be astounded (or suspect GM fiat) if he found anything. He really would not try hard before getting distracted and forgetting about it.
  12. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Okay?! Okay?!?!!! OKAY?!!!?!!! Awesome! If I could do half that good I'd be thrilled. Yeah, I see nits, but really good.
  13. Re: Why the dislike for Find Weakness? My main problem with find weakness is that it can be used again and again to further reduce defense. Yes, it is a "!" power. Yes, it gets harder and harder. Yes, it is not cheap. I allow it, but never allow sniping with it. If this is thrown out, the opponent can attack you while you are finding weakness. This balances it some. I normally say you have to be close to use it and that helps.
  14. Re: Some Book Of The Machine Pages Posted Must... Have... Book. Must... Have... Book. Must... Ok, I knew that goin in, but dang, now I want to build a time machine just so I can get it now! Never did like the original Mechanon look. Like this one better. Excellent!
  15. Re: Cuts through anything How about somthing different than HKAs? Try transform "x" into shredded-damaged-dead "x" Armor Piercing? How many things (including heros and villians) have power defense, much less hardened power defense? You'd have to define the "damage" of course, and way to "heal" the damage. this could be a rude suprise to things with high defense, but no power defense. If I'm violating rules by this, let me know. But gently please. I'm delicate. (Yeah, right:eg:.)

    Recurring NPC's

Re: Recurring NPC's The only recurring NPC that never helped the characters out directly was a D&D character. Sniv, an illusionist Gnome (when that was a good combination) He's a hoot. Very lovable. Ran a magic shop, but was often off adventuring (so he would not become a crutch.) He designed backpack witha small pouch quick release on it. It dumped oil, caltrops, marbles and a pebble with darkness cast on it. When he used it he pulled out a pebble on a thong with light cast on it. If lucky, anyone following (normally used it when running away) would be in a world of hurt. He also used a net of entabglement, and a bolo as a weapon. Strange character, but well loved.
  17. Re: Morty The Mugger Still Can't Catch A Break... Every response applies for any die roll. Volt. - Laugh and then help Morty. Have a talk with him and see if he is likely to do this again. If he is not sure Morty will quit, turn him into the police. If Morty was doing this under compulsion or desperation, he'd help him. Olorin - Laugh a lot. He'd laugh a lot longer then Volt, and then pretty much do he same thing as Volt. Trouble is, every so often during a serious discussion (or at the police station) he'd start laughing again. Black Tiger - Laugh. Then take the guy in, chuckling under his breath. He'd probably regale the cops with the story. He might even tell Morty that he made his day. Futurian - Definately rofl. Literally. It would take a while for him to stop. Then while wiping tears of laughter away "Whooo! Man, you are not cut out for this. Don't try this again. I think you've been punished enough this time, but do it again and I will take you in." Then walk away laughing and shaking his head. Leadman - Laugh and then get serious. Take the guy in, talking to him on the way. May help him out if it seems appropriate.
  18. Re: Your PCs might be Underpowered if... ... if they only way they'd be less effective is if they were in a coma.
  19. Re: HERONet Initiative Got him too!
  20. Re: I Just Shoot Marvin In The Face Ok, I misunderstood. Not my characters, but the teamates. Still, not really applicable except by Gm fiat. One is a mentalist with no attacks that do damage at all. The other has 10 dice normal attack and would have to roll very high to instantly kill. The the healing could still apply. Still, interesting for role-playing. Since I am the GM (filling needed roles until the players can handle more than one character) I'd have to do it. And I never would without talking to my players, not in this campaign. It's bronze age in tone with occasional whispers of iron. The team leader (me. The players did not want it.) would understand if it were a total accident and hold a press conference noting so. If it were the power going wild... He'd put the person on reserve until investigation is complete. If occured due to sloppiness... Can't see it with these characters.
  21. Re: Brother From Another Mother Hmmm.... Would not work for Volt. He's pretty much declared what he is for and not, even though he's pretty much a private person. Most likely would happen for Olorin, Black Tiger or Futurian as their origin is the foggiest to most people. Black Tiger would be tops on the list, since he is very private. Black Tiger. -Oh God. Please let is be something he really is for or does not care. Otherwise, he'll call a very rare press conference and blast the person for their temerity. He'll keep the langauge clean, but muddy the person bad. And then challenge them to combat if they do not publically apologize. Olorin. If he did not care, he'd tell the person to correct it. If he agreed he'd go pulbic agreeing, but making clear he was not consulted. If he disagreed, he'd go public and say so. And say why. He'd be pretty lighthearted about it. "Aw, they just assumed wrong. Should have asked first though. Have no idea how they came up with this." Futurian. If he agreed or did not care nothing would happen. Otherwise he'd call a press conference. "Aw c'mon. What xxxx said is not true. Have no idea why they said it. They assumed. And you know what they say about assuming as it allpies to you and me. I am now removing me from the equation."
  22. Re: I Just Shoot Marvin In The Face None of my characters, except by Gm fiat, could have one of their powers accidentally go off. Even if it did, an instant fatality even for a normal would be rare in the extreme (Assume 8 body on normal no resistant defences, 6 of 10 dice would have to be sixes and there could be no ones.) If it happened and Marvin did not die Olorin could heal him. If Olorin were not present, the vehicle has some healing stocked. If the guy dies, well, it happens. Report it and investigate how this could happen, because as I said, it would just about have to be GM fiat. Might be fun to roleplay though.
  23. Re: Your PCs might be Underpowered if... A peashooter might as well be 2d RK armor piercing penetrating as far as your defences are concerned.
  24. Re: What would your sidekick be named? For my sign-in name, I don't have one. For my characters: Volt - Spare battery. Only tongue in cheek. Sparky might work. Sparks would be more likely. Olorin - Gandalf. Lord of the rings fans would get this. Olorin is one of Gandalf's names. Gandalf's name "Olorin was I in the West that is forgotten." Not really. He'd probably have him called "Apprentice". Black Tiger - Almost certainly would not happen. Tiger cub may work if it did. Futurian - HWIYTC (Hwee-tk) He Who Is Yet To Come. A joke, but he'd use it. Lead man - Density.
  25. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Sounds good, even though I do not have one I'd submit. Do it!
