  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Sig line "One cannot have a conversation with an encylopedia." To that, Olorin, my super mage would say "You don't have my encylopedia. In fact, it argues!"
  2. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Welcome... Uh wow that's good. Good looking woman too. Umm.... Where was I? O yeah! Welcome back. And... Encore! Encore!
  3. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Ahhh! Annette Funicello! (yes, I was adolescent when she was on the Mikey Mouse Club)
  4. Re: Why doesn't 6e use hexes as a unit of measurement? One other thing I once used and people may like. Gridless maps, but to scale. Buildings and such wherever and however. Each player got a ruler, two lengths of string marked in whatever increments. (hexes, meters, inches, kellicams...) One for full movement and one for half move. Wasn't too bad.... except for the GM. I used marked paper for each I was contolling. That made turn modes a bit harder, but was not too bad. I even had area of effect papers ready to go. String could even be "bent" ro represent turn mode. This is my favorite mehod when I have the room... Which I do not.
  5. Re: Why doesn't 6e use hexes as a unit of measurement? I've used hex maps and not used hex maps. Each has advantages. Hex maps let you know visually how far away you are. And large minatures can really imprss. Range mods and movement can be more precise. Downside - If people are fighting at range and others hand-to-hand, the map can get awkward. Also I've found that in this case combat slows down as people count the hexes (or meters if free form. Some sort of grid can speed thid up.) It also requires more setup time. No map makes combat faster, but requires more description and requires trust of the GM by the players that his is not messing with them. Right now I have no map, as I have no room to place it. As to why the change - others have said it. It confuses the heck out of people that are new when you say hexes.
  6. Re: We Screwed Up, Please Help Us... All of my heroes would rescue the girl. Differences follow. Volt - Rescue the girl. Lecture the lackeys on going straight and help them if they do. Otherwise, they are on their own. Turn them into the police if they have a record. If possible he'd try to get the girl away from her father legally. If he can't do the above and he can do what follows - he'd lecture the crime lord. Olorin - First he'd laugh. Then rescue the girl. The thugs would owe him big. He'd cover up their ineptitude, weave a tale and get present the kidnappers hogtied to the big boss to get a favor. "I thought you'd want to take your own revenge. Enjoy!" Black Tiger - Rescue the girl. Turn in the thugs to the police if they have records. Beat up the kidnappers and turn them in to the police. Leadman - See Black Tiger - plus return the girl to the crime lord asking nothing in return. Futurian - "You want me to do what?!?!" "O. K." Rescue the girl, send her home... and totally forget the incident (or about claiming favors.)

  9. Re: Help! It's on fire! All the heroes I have or know of personally except one would go the rescue/super fire-person route. Given time (about 4 hours) Olorin could supress the fire, put it ot or otherwise make it go away. Suppress would be his first choice.
  10. Re: Yet Again: Please Help Name My Character Static is all I have right now.
  11. Re: Worst Hero Names (of your campaigns) I have two. One an accident and one on purpose ... kinda. I had an electricity using hero that I named Discharge, as in electrical discharge. Sounded too much like he had medical issues... Changed by fiat to Volt. (Really, I hadn't thought along those lines.) The other was the Charcoal Brickette. Shrinking female brick who wore black. I came up with the name first then the powers. Never used, thank goodness.
  12. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. Mmmm...! Veggie burger with bacon!
  13. Re: Do I need the 6th Martial Arts book? Yes buy it. Buy all the hero books. You can't miss out. Ok, where's my payment guys? Or is this not good enough? What do you mean they can see this? YIkes! Ok , seriously, if possible look at it in a store first. If you are a Martial artist geek, I'd recommend getting it anyway.
  14. Re: Unique, interesting powers I had (and still do, but he's retired right now) a character who had a large tranform only vs tech/machines. He normally used it to turn a hrmful machine into somthing like a radio (playing "his song") or a lamp. Irritated tech villians to no end. ALmost useless away from tech items. "He's using a wooden club. I'm doomed."

  16. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. Well, that's responsible..... for the apocalypse!
  17. Re: Silly question 2: Black Harlequin with a sunburn. Black Paladin with helmet removed with a sunburn. The amazing Newspaper Man! "Here I am with news today!"
  18. Re: Female Master Villains I will actually soon bring in a female "master villian" into my campaign soon. In herself not so nasty powerwise (but enough to hold heroes at bay while she escapes), but with lots of troops, both agents and supers. She definately is a master in the sense that the heroes may never totally shut her down, much like Doctor Destroyer, Mechanon and Isvatha V'han. She is also into power and comfort, but is no world conquerer. As long as everyone around her jumps at her commands and she has what she wants when she wants it, she's fine. Trouble is, she's willing to do nasty things to get it- but actually prefers not to as it is normally more of a pain. Her "name"- Draconia Tempestas.
  19. Re: Champions Sneak Peek #3: Just For Fun It's all part of Foxbat's master plan!
  20. Re: You Know You've Been Playing Champions Too Long When... ... You start to stat our people you know by Hero rules. Starting with yourself. .... you have a 3 shelf bookcase devoted to Hero stuff. (especially if it is overflowing) And you have stuff with at least three versions of the rules on it. .... you get "the shakes" when you haven't played in a while.
  21. Re: I wish I was Grond because... Me Grond. Me handy.
  22. Re: Need help with a name Well, since both a bat and a robin fly but a robin has a better "reputation" than a bat see where I go with that. A fox is in the canine family, but has a somewhat bad rep "fox in the henhouse" but also has "foxy". Other canines - wolf, hyena, jackal, dingo, dog. Could be pup. Or hound. Fox and hound could be ironic or tongue in check. Right now I'm going toward dingo.
  23. Re: My Players looted the room I had a situation that was somewhat similar but not quite. It was DnD. New players. I told them "No evil characters." They agreed. Then promptly proceeded to be marginal then blatently evil. I decided then to show them consequences of their action. The "Big Goods" (counterpoint to "Big Bads") were promptly after them once a trully good NPC turned them in. They got real upset and said "This is not what we agreed to." I then killed the campaign and never played with them again. If they had told me they wanted to be evil, I may have gone along with it. ....Heroes on the "wrong side of the law"... Yup.
  24. Re: Moving Violation Volt, Black Tiger and Leadman would just watch for more incidents and suggest Tk or invisible driver. Black Tiger would investigate owner for possible clues (Deduction roll) Olorin would do magic investigation. If there was magic, he'd know fast. He'd be able (eventually - but could take months of spending at least half his time researching - very limited retrocognition) find out exactly what happened. In effect, unless it happened a lot he'd find out fast or not at all. Futurian - "Whooa! Fragic!" Then either "You want the techo babble or should I just say it's technology? " if it is some sort of tech trick (remote control, high tech car, etc.) Otherwise..."I have no clue. I'm a tech expert, not magic or super power expert."
