  1. My personal favorite: Font Freak Sometimes the "feel" for a font, just from looking at it, will give me an idea for a character, organization, alien race, or something.
  2. An option that Steve deleted was that ability to trade with a specific individual, which I bought as a memorized location. That plus enough MegaScale to cover the entire globe, plus permission from the GM, should do the trick.
  3. Before this thread had come up, I'd built a power for the USPD that does something very similar to what's been asked for here. You'll find it under Teleportation Powers, with the name Trading Spaces. It's not particularly cheap (45 points for a 15" effect), but it works. It occurs to me that a villain could easily use this sort of power as an assassination tool: get within eyeshot of the target, jump off a building, and trade places. To do the exact of what's requested, I'd just use Teleportation, MegaScale (to whatever distance), Usable Simultaneously (+1/2), Ranged (+1/2), Only to Trade Places (-1), 1 Charge (-2).
  4. That's kind of the idea. The main drawback, of course, is that any such art would have to be done on spec or for the love of the game, just like the writing.
  5. I'm with Maccabe on this one -- it sounds more like a good Special Effect for a density-controlling character to have Tunneling.
  6. For the problem of moving an Entangle-generated barrier, how about importing the Mobile Perception Point Adder for Clairsentience (USPD page 164)? For +5 points, the character can move the Entangle 6" per Phase, x2 velocity per +5 points. Naaah. I'd rather use Telekinesis (that is, if there was a good guideline for figuring out how much the Entangle-generated barrier weighs).
  7. How about Entangle, 1 BODY, Only To Form Barriers, Costs END To Maintain?
  8. Hey, don't worry about it, Zara. As many as it seems I send in, only about half of my ideas get added. With most of them, I can see why the decision went that way, too (though often only after the fact, or I'd have a higher success rate). And Steve... I love the new Whirling Powers sub-category for Speedster Powers. Now it'll be a lot easier for me to write up Ratman's boy sidekick, Bobbin....
  9. The difference between using Movement Powers UAA and using Telekinesis is that the former will move every target the same distance regardless of mass, while the latter will move smaller targets longer distances. Thus Telekinesis is not the appropriate choice for this. However, rather than Flight UAA, I'd suggest using Gliding UAA, with Continuous (+1) and a Subject To Winds Limitation (-1/4) (and probably other Modifiers as well).
  10. Wait a minute... the main reason I lobbied for using Telekinesis (as opposed to Leaping UAA, which was Steve's tendency while I was writing TUV) is specifically because it does account for weight, gravity, and such considerations. Movement Powers UAA don't take those into account -- they throw a target the same distance whether he weighs 2 grams or 2 tons. And that's the logic that won Steve over to my way of thinking (one of only two areas I can think of offhand where I succeeded in doing so).
  11. From TUV, page 165: Telekinesis (26 STR) (39 Active Points); OIF Bulky (-1), Affects Whole Object (-1/4), No Range (-1/2), Only To Throw Target Straight Up (-2), 1 Recoverable Charge (-1 1/4). Total Cost: 6 points.
  12. Don't forget: logic overrules the letter of the write-up. This would technically be a suffocation attack, but because it suffocates by keeping oxygen away from the character it falls within the Limitation.
  13. D'oh! I'd completely disassociated Star*Guard from the whole CU for some reason. As soon as I saw that word in your post, I knew what you were talking about -- I really need to dive into that. I have a feeling these may become useful species for my Mon'dabi Embassy campaign. This isn't just a good idea; it's a good premise for a Digital Hero article (IMO).
  14. Another possibility would be to put the Teleportation Power into a multipower with another Teleport of the same distance, but with no extra mass and the Usable Simultaneously (+1/2) and Ranged (+1/2) Advantages and a Limitation that the two must teleport simultaneously to the same location (-1). Or, another way to handle it would be to buy the second Teleport Usable As Attack (+1) and Linked (-1/4) to the main teleport without necessarily having to use it when the main teleport is used, with that same matching-destination Limitation. This is assuming, of course, that you're not in the mood to fudge things with the Power Skill, Grab By, or something similar, any of which is at least as legitimate. Buying it as a separate power is only needed if she does it on a fairly regular basis.
  15. What issue(s) are these guys from? I have every issue of DH, but I think these slipped past my notice somehow....
  16. On the contrary, I'm having a blast -- hence my earlier comment about popcorn. OTOH I'm the guy who was trying to get Steve to let me write what would effectively be CSI Hero, so maybe I'm not the best yardstick in this regard....
  17. Re: Fuzion Mechs The Mekton system is indeed one of the influences in Fuzion. The "default" vehicle plug-in, in fact, is almost directly out of Mekton, though a bit hard to translate into Hero. And be warned that the Spacer's Toolkit contains exactly one mech, and even that's debatable (Steve has called it, to paraphrase only slightly, "the closest thing the Hero Universe will ever have to a mech"). It has many other wonderful devices from medical treatments to starships, but only one ground vehicle with legs.
  18. Hey, before you fret over having a mess of a manuscript, ask Steve to show you what I sent him as a "final draft" for TUV. And I already know I suffer mental illness -- though the medication helps a lot. (I'm only partially joking here; this is actually true. I have six anxiety disorders, all helped by Zoloft.)
  19. The murder mystery idea, while frighteningly difficult in any RPG setting (let alone one with superpowered humans in it), can be a wonderful diversion if done right. You could also borrow a page from Without A Trace, and have the PCs track a high-profile missing person. I did that once with a superhero group, and though I gave it the air of a "scavenger hunt" it was a rousing success. Another idea is to have the PCs act as bodyguards for a VIP, such as a foreign dignitary who is popular with most of the American public but not with certain radicals (President Mussharif of Pakistan comes to mind as an example). The PCs could spend the whole time tracking down clues and cornering criminals who would really rather not fight back against someone known to wield the power of a tank in his hands.
  20. Here's a thought. Steve wrote the original USPD, and manages the Online USPD. Ben wrote the original STK; maybe he could manage the Online STK. Like I said, it's a thought.
  21. Would those be (or at least include) the Phule's Company books I cited? (Just curious; nobody else seems to be seconding it or even addressing it in any other way.) Well, I do have an unpublished series of my own; but I guess that's not very helpful, eh?
  22. I'm still waiting for the book to arrive in either of my FLGSs. If it doesn't arrive after another couple of weeks, I'll probably order it online.
