Watched the pilot episode of My Secret Identity yesterday. Starred Jerry O'Connell and Derek McGrath, with the young Andrew Clements (O'Connell) getting superpowers from a "photon beam" in his neighbor Dr. Jeffcoate's (McGrath) in-home lab. Super speed, invulnerability, and the ability to float (not really fly - he used aerosol spray cans to allow him to move). Admittedly a bit cheesy, but I enjoyed it.

There's a certain blindness that consequences will only happen to other people.
Two things:
First, that was some SERIOUS overacting there. I mean, really.
Second, didn't someone do a riff on this, where before the guy can even finish telling them what happens, the person pushes the button. And then repeatedly pushes it as the guy keeps trying to explain the whole thing. (quick search) Yeah, here it is.

Spoiler
I think D2 is "Splitting Hairs"

Just re-watched (for like the thousandth time) the first Back to the Future movie. While watching the credits, I saw "DeLorean Time Travel Consultant" (Ron Cobb).
I wonder what would happen if you put a flux capacitor and an oscillation overthruster in the same vehicle. Like, maybe a TARDIS.

I feel compelled to point out that changing the Constitution is not unconstitutional. It's a feature. The guy wants to enact an amendment to modify a prior amendment. Doesn't seem well considered, TBH. He probably read Starship Troopers and thought "neat idea!"
So, a quick check online doesn't see him doing any military or civil service from age 18-25. Just sayin'.

Kouri Richins, who wrote a children's book about grief after her husband's death, has now been charged with his murder.
At the trial, she'll probably ask the court for leniency because she's a widow.

So, does this put Trump on the list of sex offenders for New York?

It's the bone-shaped pillow that makes that picture, IMO.

Congratulations to our cousins across the pond on the coronation of their new king. While royalty may not be our cup of tea (which we'd have probably dumped it in the harbor like a bunch of reprobates anyway), I can respect that it is a key part of your culture and is part of what makes you the incredible allies you are. May his reign be as awesome as his mother's.

Just watched a god-awful movie called Cosmic Sin. Sci-fi movie starring Bruce Willis. Really wish I could get those two hours back. Probably should have stopped watching earlier, but it was like watching an airliner crashing into a train wreck as it jumped the tracks to smash into a retirement village.

That is impressive.
Weird, but impressive.
The really impressive part was the 26 mile-long extension cord.

[sarcasm]Yep, definitely demonstrates the 2nd amendment need right there. Responsible gun ownership for the win.[/sarcasm]
This kinda stuff really makes me sick.

"And I've tried everything. I tried the gum, I couldn't keep it lit. I tried the patches, they pulled the skin off my lips."
And it may be easy to roll those patches up, but do you know how hard it is to light them and get them to stay lit?

We used the Champions cardboard heroes / villains for years and years, as well as a number of the Steve Jackson Games ones. Along the way, I made a template in Word and pasted in pics of homebrew characters (usually pics downloaded along the way and used as inspiration for my own characters), with the character's names on the back.
Only recently have I begun collecting and painting minis. Also purchased a bunch of second-hand DC and Marvel HeroClix figures, removed them from the too-large HeroClix bases, and glued them onto smaller bases bought online. I probably have a good 200 of those, and for any given adventure i might pick out ones that are close enough to the characters in play that we can all tell who's who.
However, the cardboard characters have a special place in my heart.

It seems to me his name would be better spelled starting with another letter, probably from earlier in the alphabet than "T"

New Topic: Recipe substitutions that are a really bad idea.
Substituting anything for bacon. Honestly, there's nothing on Earth better than bacon.
Story not related to bacon, but related to recipe substitutions. When I was a kid, my older sister decided to make a "healthy cake" by substituting "healthier" options for the ingredients in a normal cake. For instance, she used wheat flour instead of white flour, carob instead of cocoa powder, and Sweet and Low in place of sugar. However, she didn't change the amounts at all, and I think the Sweet and Low was what did the cake in. It was absolutely horrendous.
