  1. Re: Marvel to HERO I guess I've been spoiled by playing Champions for all these years. Few games measure up to HERO's standards.
  2. Re: Marvel to HERO QM, that's for that piss-poor game Marvel turned out about 20 years ago. Adventurer's Club had a conversion system for it, way back in the day. Still, it's good to know. Thanks.
  3. Re: Marvel to HERO Sure. Here's what they list for Spidey Intelligence: Gifted - INT 16-21 Strength: Superhuman Class 1 - STR 32-43 Stamina: Superhuman - CON 29-34, END 71-89, REC 50-65 Durability: Enhanced Human - BODY 29-39, STUN 50-90, PD/ED 21-35 Agility: Superhuman - DEX 29-37 Reflexes: Superhuman - SPD 9-10 Based on the comics I might push Spidey's STR to Superhuman Class 2 - STR 44-50. But otherwise I think it works pretty well. Here's Cap: Intelligence: Above Normal - INT 12-15 Strength: Peak Human - STR 16-20 Stamina: Peak Human - CON 18-23, END 36-50, REC 18-25 Durability: Peak Human - BODY 16-20, STUN 30-50, PD/ED 7-10 Agility: Peak Human - DEX 18-22 Reflexes: Peak Human - SPD 5-6 Based on the comics I would have put Cap at Enhanced Human for Stamina, and Durability; but I could live with this. And here's She-Hulk: Intelligence: Above Normal - INT 12-15 Strength: Superhuman Class 9 - STR 106-115 Stamina: Superhuman - CON 29-34, END 71-89, REC 50-65 Durability: Metahuman - BODY 40-59, STUN 75-150, PD/ED 36-50 Agility: Enhanced Human - DEX 23-28 Reflexes: Enhanced Human - SPD 7-8 Based on the comics I would have put Jen at Peak Human for Agility and Reflexes. But, again, I could live with this. I have no idea where you could find these things maybe ebay or your local comics store would be my guess.
  4. Re: Marvel to HERO They used everything except the HERO numbers. Those I had to extrapolate from the information given. Also the Superhuman Class STR is based on my read of where they should be, not where the Handbook puts them. As such it is a re-work of the Handbook chart.
  5. Re: Marvel to HERO Yes, these came from just the Handbook, not the rpg. I understand what you're saying about INT, but this is the way the Handbook lists it, and frankly it's as close as HERO comes to to it. And the Master Editions are the ones on cardstock. They just list the words under the stats, full descriptions were on the inside covers. There are histories and such, but they're pretty brief. They're on one page with front, back and side illustrations of the characters on the other side. BTW nice pic of Alicia.
  6. I did this up about 15 years ago and recently today re-worked a bit. It was based on the Master Edition Handbook of the Marvel Universe from the early 90s. I'm looking for a little feedback.
  7. Re: Top 5 Favorite 5E Supplements In no particular order: Champions Hudson City: The Urban Abyss Pulp Hero Masterminds and Madmen Gadgets and Gear
  8. Re: Why Obadiah Stane went bad.... That was one of the head-scratching moments in the movie. The moment that Pepper got to SHIELD his goose was cooked. The smart thing to have done was to disappear with as much cash as possible, and - if he could get - the schematics of the Iron Monger armor and the mini Arc Reactor. He should have been smart enough to know that going after Tony, killing Pepper and the SHIELD agents, etc. wasn't going to solve anything. The genie was out of the bottle and there was no corking it back up. But Stane never really did think things through very thoroughly, as the hit on Tony proved.
  9. Re: Why Obadiah Stane went bad.... Are we talking in the comic or the movie?
  10. Re: WWYCD: "Dear Superhero" (Warning: Ugly situation) Nighthawk probably wouldn't get the letter. If by some miracle he did, although he wouldn't give a damn about international law, he would be smart enough to know that not even he could take on an entire country. Therefore he would go looking for advice from people he respects. This inturn would lead him to his great-uncle - Preston Walker, Maj. Gen. USA ret. aka ... Patriot would first go straight to the top - the President of the United States - but the US has the problem of its hands being tied by international law. Unless they want to declare war on Duhu all they can really do is pass sanctions, which they would do of course. Covertly an operation could be set upto get the villagers out from in the middle, but this would take months if not years. Unwilling to wait so long Patriot would go to ... Centurion is where the buck stops. Not only is he the overall Strike Force Commander and one of the most powerful members of Strike Force: Boston; but in his secret identity of Gideon Stevens, he's Tai-Pan of the Hong Kong city-state. Centurion will travel to Duhu, grab the Dictator and the Rebel Leader, and tell them both that the atrocities stop now. If they don't, Hong Kong will declare war on Duhu and when it does he will be back and he won't be leaving any of the b******* on either side alive when it's over. As the agent of a soveriegn government in a legally declared war, he can do that. Quite frankly neither Duhu nor the Rebels have anything that can even slow him down, let alone stop him. And in any case he won't be alone, but rather leading a small, elite force of HK troops in Mk IV CAP (Combat Armor - Powered) suits. One way or the other the situation will be resolved.
  11. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Well, yesterday I watched Iron Man again. Last week I watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World From Russia With Love The Phantom and The Shadow.
  12. Re: closed beta applications Thanks.
  13. Re: closed beta applications How did you recieve the invites? By email or at the CO forums?
  14. Re: Trail of the Golden Spike It's a problem, but not really a huge one. It just requires that the villian be willing to sacrifice some mooks to draw the heroes away from his true objective. In this way the villian accomplishes what he needs to accomplish, while you keep the heroes busy by giving them someone to fight/save. It's also a good idea to have the mooks drop a clue of some sort before they bite it. Sometimes a genuine clue, sometimes just a red herring. But it should be something that will keep the players busy investigating. The worst thing to happen in a mystery is for everyone to just sit still. Clues to be followed up, damsels to be rescued, and mooks to fight keep things moving along. The real trick is to tailor the clues so that there's something for everyone to deal with. By the way when I ran this one, about 10 years ago, I had Truck Fight from the Raiders soundtrack playing in the background during the aerial battles. I keyed the nazi parts when I was describing what the Condor's planes were doing, and Indy's parts for the PCs. It really brought things to life.
  15. Re: A Crazy Mixed-Up World History I need some help getting this one started again. So many characters to build and so little time to get them built. If anyone's interested in giving it a try, just pick a character from the history and have at it. Please take experiance into account based on the character's debut years. The history has been slightly revised to reflect a 2009 campaign start, and is presented here. Doc Shadow formerly TheImperialKhan

  17. Re: closed beta applications It's probably all vaporware. Just like that Champions computer game from the 90s.

  19. Re: closed beta applications So has anybody heard anything yet?
  20. Re: What does a "20 Comeliness" look like to YOU? :coach: OK, all rules lawyers, outta the pool! This thread was supposed to be about what 20 COM meant to each individual, with a concentration on examples of who, in the poster's opinion, would qualify for said 20 COM. If you want to go off on a tangent and have a discussion of the game mechanics behind characteristics in general and COM in particular; I respectfully suggest that you take it elsewhere and let this thread get back to the original topic. Thank you.
  21. Re: Good marvel write-ups? There's a slight mistake in your list. Villians: Dr. Doom Juggernaut Mr. Sinister Apocalypse Magneto Thanos Galacticus Mystique Iron Man Heroes: Xavier Storm Rogue Colossus Hulk Jean Grey Doctor Strange There. It's fixed now.
  22. Re: closed beta applications Mine went in this morning. Never been a beta tester before.
  23. Re: You Are President! Most of mine are.
  24. Re: You Are President! Centurion would probably respectfully decline, he's already Tai-Pan of the Hong Kong City-State and will be for another 189 years. Conflict of interest. On the other hand he might just accept as the odds are against the US and HK being at cross purposes. Nighthawk would find out which of his enemies arranged his election, take him out, expose the plot, and step aside for the run off between the next highest vote-getters in two weeks. Patriot would accept the honor and serve to the best of his ability. He would probably end up serving two terms and be considered one of the country's top four presidents along with Washington, Lincoln, and FDR. Stuart MacLeod isn't qualified, he was born in Scotland. 800 years ago.
  25. Re: Call for Replacements I think I'm going to pull Iron Man II out of the running. My original concept of the character has been pretty much torpedoed and I've been having a tough time shoe-horning him into a new one. It would have helped if I'd had the whole story going in.
