  1. Re: Kill Bill Hey I didn't say I disliked Go-Go, I was just giving suggestions as to why she might've appeared the way she did to phydaux. I thought she served her role in the movie quite admirably. Threatening as she needed to be, without overshadowing O-Ren, who was also cute and pretty.
  2. Re: Queer Eye for the Superhero Guy No, Black Lightning definetly wore pants. Granted when the character started being published in the 70's they may not have been the most fashionable pants but he definetly had them. It was Black Vulcan who went without.
  3. Re: Kill Bill Show her as the sexy little Japanese school girl - white shirt, plad skirt too short in the back that shows here white, ruffled panties, white thigh-high stockings. No garters, no pig tails, no knoting the shirt in the front to show cleavage. She's a school girl, not a stripper. Then, when the time comes, she pulls out an ice pick or a straight razor and gacks somebody. No cutsiy faces or lamb one-liners - right down to business. Then she goes after Uma. Movies are a visual medium. You've set up in the voice over that she's young, sexy and a killer. The audience has already seen the first two, now just show them the third. Anything else detracts. O-Ren's the main villain of Part 1, not Go Go. You make Go Go look to good and it detracts from the main battle with O-Ren later. YOu don't want to have the henchmen overshadow thier employers after all. O-Ren was the main target, all Go Go was was an obstacle along that path.
  4. Re: Kill Bill No I don't think it was bad acting at all. As you say she was a teenage girl trying to come off as threatening and scary but not managing it, I think that's very much intentional. Possibly they were going for the dichtomy between her innocent appearence and her violent actions. The character of Go Go, in my opinion, is trying to hard to be scary which is why she can't achieve that effect. Were she to just let her actions speak for themselves, there'd be no problem.
  5. Re: Queer Eye for the Superhero Guy No no, you're thinking Black Vulcan from the old Superfriends show. The Black Lightning from the comic book wore pants.
  6. Re: Kill Bill Also reputation both as a perk and as a disadvantage. The disad version would be on a 8- roll and would be something like dangerous assasin and would most definetly be extreme. The Perk version would be on the same roll and would be: Black Mamba, Most Dangerous Woman Walking, Bar None.
  7. Re: Cobra!! In the comics Stormshadow had an ability called "The Ear That Sees" basically, targeting for his hearing. He was really good with a bow, so badass archery skills are definetly a must in addition to the ninja skills. Also, in the comics he only joined Cobra because he knew one of them was responsible for the death of his sensei [it was Zartan I belive, who killed Stormshadow's sensei whilst attempting to kill Snake Eyes. The Sensei had been mimicing Snake Eye's movements so well that Zartan shot him thinking he was Snake Eyes.] Zartan is pretty much as Badger says, though according to his filecard he's supposed to have the same disadvantage Disinformer did in the old Red Doom supplement, namely getting too into the identity he assumes and loosing his own identity. Not sure if that was played up in the comics, I know it wasn't in the show. Zartan and Zarana both would have impressive disguise skills, probably a super skill based on shapeshift. Zaran, Zartan's brother though I could have the name wrong, is noted for his stealth abilities. In fact, that's said to be the reason he didn't show up in later issues of the comic [and possibly later episodes of the show] he was so good at stealth people forgot he was around! Firefly also has ninja skills, as he's a master in the clan that trained Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. Also, I belive he'd have some reputation as well as I belive he was supposed to be legendary in sabateour circles. Regular line Cobra troops were called Vipers, which I find kinda ironic as in Champions regular line VIPER troops are part of Cobra division.
  8. Re: WWWYCD: Caught in the Web "Oh crap! Mids is gonna KILL me!" That would be Twilight's first reaction to finding the site, rapidly followed by his second: "PENNY! I'M GONNA GET YOU FOR THIS!" Twilight would naturally assume that Bad Penny, a villainess whom he's had a relationship with is behind this as she's the only one he can think of who would know all this about him. She's rather eccentric and qualifies as a fan so it doesn't exactly seem odd for her. Twilight would naturally track her down and once he found out she wasn't involved [assuming of course she isn't] she would likely accompany him on his quest to find out who is. Even if he doesn't want her to. His mentor, Lady Midnight, strongly disapproves of course.
  9. Re: WWYCD: Sleeping With The Enemy Twilight: "Whoa, deja vu." This has happened to Twilight before you see, as he does tend to have a thing for bad girls on occasion. He'd look into the situation to make sure his friend wasn't being used, all the while hoping his friend isn't dating the same villainess Twilight himself dated. That would be just embarrasing after all. Avalon: She'd find the situation rather akward and would make absolutely sure that her friend was doing this of his/her own free will, as she's had some troubles with manipulative villains in the past. Once she finds out the relationship is willing, if she does, she'll be happy for her friend but will ask him/her to be careful.
  10. Re: Sample Oddity From Gestalt-Earth So when is this setting going to be available to the general public? *Gollum mode on* We wants it, it's our Precious, oh yes it is. WE WANTS IT NOW!! *End Gollum mode*
  11. Re: A little help with a power construct? Shaman of Alpha Flight The Independent disadvantage doesn't represent something incredibly rare and difficult to use. By it's very nature something with the Independent disadvantage is usable by anybody. When something has the Independent disadvantage not only does the GM not have to make sure to get it back to you [as is the case of foci without that limitation] but any other PC can pick it up and use it if he/she wishes too as can any villains. That's clearly not the case with Shaman's medicine pouch, thus it doesn't have that limitation.
  12. Re: Favorite Pulp Character As long as we're mentioning the pulps, let's not overlook one of the great villains of those stories. Namely Dr. Fu Manchu! I know he started in novels but he's appeared in the pulps and comics many times as well and really, he could possibly qualify as the first supervillain. Maybe.
  13. Re: DNPC: My Cat Heck, most cats make Batman look like rank amateurs when it comes to that sort of thing. My cat does that certainly. I should also point out he's an accomplished escape artist.
  14. Re: Character Background Help - CU Mystic World Questions Sorry about that Kristopher, I put my answers to your questions after your questions. However I forgot that the boards sometimes add replies in that fashion to the original post, rather then the as something seperate. *Grover mode on* I'm so embarrased. *End Grover mode*
  15. Re: Character Background Help - CU Mystic World Questions I hope the answers I provided were helpful.
  16. Re: Goofy hero names that you still love I recall the name of a supervillain I created for a Golden Age campaign that never quite managed to get off the ground. A german spy who's father was killed by an American in the great war, who desperately wanted revenge and sought to destroy the United States in the name of Nazi Germany. Pretending to be an American criminal mastermind, he intended to manipulate America's criminal element as a weapon against America. His name....Professor Peril!
  17. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics At least with Jessica Fletcher [Angela Landsbury's character in Murder, She Wrote] you know that it's usually somebody who deserves it getting offed when she shows up. How often can you say that with Batman?
  18. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics Another criminally underrated character, in my opinion, would have to be Spoiler. Unfortunately she's going to be eternally underused it seems as she's been killed in the horrid horrid Wargames story. She was a fun character, in my opinion and I was really enjoying her budding friendship with Batgirl and her relationship with Robin. Of course all that got shoved to the wayside as a second rate Bat-villain, Black Mask, needed to be made to look badass. It's really sad.
  19. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics
  20. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics You're right, that would be interesting, though from what I understand R'as al Ghul is dead now so that's unlikely to happen at least with Johns writing as he's usually not fond of ressurecting characters others have killed [Fury and Dove being the exceptions as far as I know.] As for the change in Blood, who knows why Johns did it? Perhaps he felt he couldn't write the original version as well as Wolfman and Perez did or perhaps he felt the original's story was so good that he wanted to let it rest and thus created a new version? Or perhaps he wanted to use Brother Blood and said "oh crud Winnick killed the original in The Outsiders, better try and do something interesting with the new guy." We'll never know really.
  21. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics
  22. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics The only one making this into a personal vendetta apparently. I state my opinion and you claim I'm having a homosexual lust for the man, very mature indeed. And if you call writing good stories being out of good ideas, then I feel sorry for you. That's all I have to say about that.
  23. Re: Iyo: The Most Underrated Or Underused Character In Comics He didn't whine at all and if you don't find a kid who latches onto a mother figure for the sole purpose of killing her creepy then you must be really creepy. Then there was the whole blood drinking thing. Granted he's not the original Brother Blood but he's an interesting take on the character, in my opinion. Geoff Johns indeed strikes again, with a good story.
