  1. Re: Starting a Big DC Campaign Gotta second the recommendation for Hudson City Blues. It's the best 'module' I've ever seen. Simply splendid. VtR
  2. Re: Approved by the Comics Code Authority Oddly, this would have pretty much no effect on either Scion or Thump. And Thump is in a DC campaign... Vann
  3. Re: Trusting Systems vs trusting GM Judgement Wow. Quite the discussion. In short, discuss the rules with the GM if you feel they've been misapplied, but in the end if you trust the rules system more than your GM, you have the wrong GM. I now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion. VtR
  4. Re: Must use villains He was part of the backstory for one of my favorite characters (both had been trained by the same, now dead, hero). VtR
  5. Re: Who is the best Super in comics? I've always felt like you buy a comic the first time for the masked identity and keep buying it for the person behind the mask. Based on that, my favorites (as reflected by my collection) are Dick Grayson, Steve Rogers, Barbara Gordon, Luke Cage. VtR
  6. Re: Legacies- Champions Universe style Heh. As you know from HHC, I'm pretty fond of the legacy heroes myself. One of the things I read each supplement for. VtR
  7. Re: Must use villains Ooh, good catch with Panda and Raccoon, Plex. I usually squeeze in Thunder & Lightning as well. VtR
  8. Re: Must use villains I always end up tweaking and using the Geodesics. Love them for some reason. Rainbow Archer is fun, too. And how can you not use Viper? VtR
  9. Re: Champions Online Wallpapers I like both. I'm not a fan of the open helm look on Defender because Defender has always had a closed helm, but it looks fine. Love the Doc D, though. Vann
  10. Re: Is this Dark Champions or Regular Champions? Heh. Love your siggy, too. ;-) VtR
  11. Re: Is this Dark Champions or Regular Champions? I delineate between the two somewhat differently. To me, if the character is principally concerned with 'regular' crime, it's DC. That is to say, if the hero is motivated to improve the lives of the average Joe rather than dealing with super-villains. My other measuring stick would be the 'grittiness' of the setting. Power level or costuming of the villains has little to do with it. So, to review some of the characters mentioned, I'd say DC characters are Power Man, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Batman (JLA aside), Spidey, Cloak & Dagger. Spidey and Batman definitely cross the lines at times, though. Captain America was even DC at times when I first started reading it as he had an established neighborhood in New York and many of the stories revolved around helping his neighbors. Just my $0.02, VtR
  12. Re: Do you have any "deal brekers" when it comes 6th edition? I'm just generally skeptical. I don't know that there's a single dealbreaker, but I have trouble believing that 6e could substantially improve on 5er. Steve has a huge sales pitch to make on that score. That said, I have little doubt in his ability to make that sales pitch. VtR
  13. Re: Who's Who on the Champions Online forums? I'll be there as PowerGrrl -- my old CoX character. VtR
  14. Re: Double The Hero Excitement! And the biggest risk in character development for an MMOG is to allow players to doom themselves in character creation. So, customization has to be limited. VtR
  15. Re: The Ultimates Bundle QFT and repped. VtR
  16. Re: Quick question I have most of them here in the closet beside me, but I'm afraid you have out-acronymed me. VtR

    Mongoose

Re: Mongoose Ah, then my attempt at humor fell flat. I thought that character was Taeser, not Teaser. VtR
  18. Re: Champions Universe: The Unresolved Questions/Plots So long as CLOWN stays dead, I can live with whatever. VtR
  19. Re: Challenges for Champions in CU canon? I have not updated her to make sure she's FREd friendly, but I have used her in previous games. Makes a good NPC as she won't step on many heros' schtick and she's a hawtie. VtR

    Mongoose

Re: Mongoose My first questions are: 1) Where's the KS for his martial art? 2) Who is Teaser? ;-) VtR
  21. Re: Still Bat-ty Sounds pretty great. I'd play in it. VtR
  22. Re: Limiting power level of the characters Another important thing to bear in mind is that the characters should be balanced overall, not neatly in every category. If your defensive limit is 20/5 in each category and someone wants to be bulletproof enough to sacrifice offense, that should work. VtR
  23. Re: What game would you LOVE to play in? A nice, gritty, street-level supers game. Sorta Heroes-for-Hire meet the Outsiders kinda thingy. That'd be great. VtR
  24. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... It didn't just turn into one of those chainmail bikinis Red Sonja used to sport? VtR
  25. Re: Sell me on "Galactic Champions"? Illinois Nazis. I hate Illinois Nazis... Yep, the point scales aren't what I'm after. More of a street-level guy. Don't read Avengers or JLA any more for that reason. VtR
