  1. I think this is a Ask Steve TM question, but IMO, yes the fire based damage shield does damage to the ice based entangle. PS: i would rule on a case by case basis, for example, a guy whose DS is defined as spikes jutting out form his body, I can't think of a reason they would work against a Glue based entangle that come in wet and gooey then may or may not solidify.
  2. the way to counter invisibility: as soon as the enemies realise there is something attacking them that they can't see, they use AoE attacks and spread their attacks to cover an area, and create a darkness field around them so they are on equal ground since the hero can't see them either, fill the air with dust or a light smoke or a falling liquid to see the differances that an invisible body would make, or splater the whole area with paint or coat the ground with a fine sand. want more? ;-)
  3. alternatively, you could just make the "ghost" character invincible to physical, but have Energy still effect him as in "the energy rushing through him delivers a system shock and take away stun" then the player with GM aproval just tkae either Desolid, only vs PD or a 75% (or 100% for extra with GMA) damage reduction and then he is immune to Physical but affected by energy, with a good reason, and a cool concept.
  4. actually the correct way is I >= W and D >= F where I is tunneling inches and W is wall width and D is Tunneling Defense and F is Force wall PD+ED
  5. uh, I agree with everyone? 1: you gotta be careful about the abuse factor, but I'd allow it, the only thing I'm semi iffy about is the thing that the wall has a different ED, so it isn't the same as a regular wall that has the same ED and PD defense, but that is a quibble, I'd allow it.... 2: again depends on SFX, i mean if the wall is contantly costing hte character or the device that generates it END, then I'd say it punches a hole through and it disipates, but again I'd have to think about special effects. if it isn't costing anyone end, it is sepperate form teh character, so it only punches a small hole 3: again depends on SFX..... probably. but then how does the visible part come in with an energy shield? I'm suprised at Steve's answer.....
  6. 1: yeah i forgot something, but just put a -1/2 or somehitng, that says "only if Mind control doesn't achieve effect" OR you could put "only to let them move towards friends with the intention of attacking them" 2: make it a no defense entangle, but double the body (as a GM, i wouldn;t make that cost anything extra personally) then you get a same level, that anyone, given enough time, can break out, but with only 5 dice, it woudl take the average person a minute or less to to break free, but they would break free evwentually, the main thing is :will they break free before they get knocked out? 3:yeah, and the high level characters could casually break free of the no defense entangle.
  7. this whole thread has me ROFLing!!!
  8. how about a low mind control to attack friends, then a entangle, against Ego, not STR. it would be a lower powered one so a strong enough ego could casually break through it. and the Entangle and MC woudl be linked to each other, saving some points, enough that you can make one or the other lower end, also consider you only need a low powered attack on each, just a few dice since he said almost anyone can break through, the first, and very few people have high enough ego to break through even a low level ego based entangle... edit: this just seems the easiest way to do anythng.. and simple works for me...
  9. why not just have the defenses be a forcefield? I thought they cost End every phase...
  10. agreed, if 1/2 is for no figured, but it still gives you the D6 and the leping and throwing, then 1/2 sounds perfect to take away that but keep the otehr parts.
  11. mainly the Die roller, and the random name generator, though i use the other parts to get ideas some times. I can't think of anything to be added right now, but please don't delete anything. well, my opinion doesn't count that much because i use a cable modem so am almost always online and dont really care much one way or another.
  12. 1: the target's normal DCV 2: this enter's GM preferance zone, myself, i would have no penalty (and even a bonus if if is his team mate, without asking him, just for kicks) but i can see why there is a penalty, and that would be, the targets struggles, it isn't a solid piece of metal like a light post, it flops around, and if the arget is awaky during this he will try to hold onto your arme and not hit stuff...
  13. cool, I use your site all the time...
  14. I'd have them use END but then have the newbies use character types that lets them use End reserves, then you can remind them to mark their end and get them in that habit, but they don't have to worry about running out.
  15. actually... it has been hacked and tricked and such, but that may be GM info about who so I'll say no more...
  16. no problem, anytime, really... it will just cost ya next time
  17. 1: pretty important, it really just expands on the stuff a WHOLE lot, things that were once only a paragraph are now full pages, Vast improvements on Change enviroment, major differance with the Shapeshift, ect... 2: yes and no, Fred really just expands on everything and adds and some small changes. 3: should be, some characters may need a little more work but lots of them you can just shunt directly into Fred with minimal work. 4: we don't have the Fantasy hero yet, so can't say, and I haven't read Start hero yet... so I dunno... in all honesty you COULD get away with just buying the 5th edition resource kit and that would let you get away with most ofo the changes if you have the Fourth edition, but if you have the money, just get Fred.
  18. the closest thing i can find is page 124 STR Doesn't add -1/2 I'd say that makes STR add a +1/2 advantage.
  19. why not buy the naked power advantage: Variable advantage for up to X STR. you start out with a +1/2 advantage, this only lets you use 1/4 advantages, but as you get experiance you boost it to 1/2, 1, 2 and so on...
  20. this is exactly what i suggested, though i put a diffferant value (-1/4) simply because in my games they aren't as common...
  21. Alfred all the way, i mean if, by some miracle, Jarvis beat up Alfred, then he would have batman to deal with, then if the Avengers did come the JL would come, and in the long fight that would follow (with the Avengers winning) Alfred and Jarvis would recover, Alfred would beat Jarvis up again, retreat to the batcave and come back with the Bat-mech or something to help the JL, which at this time would be unconcious, but the Avengers would be too worn out to fight much more so Alfred would defeat the Avengers.
  22. how about this: only costs end when hit then define it as drawing the end from the end reserve ALWAYS take the easiest route... it wouldn't be a disadvantage because you normally pay end every time you are up, but nore would it be +1/2 because it isn't that it cost no end at all, so a +1/4 sounds best and you just say when it is hit it draws end. though, this could be a +0 if it is just every phase he is hit or -1/4 every time he is hit so it looks like this: +1/4 so enemy 1 attacks and the FF takes the END out of the reserve, then enemy 2 attacks with an 5 shot autofire and the FF works but it doesn't take end out because it already drew end. (in htis example the FF draws end only once) +0 enemy 1 attacks and takes the end, enemy 2 attacks with a 5 shot autofire and it costs end again, but only once for the whole attack. (in this example the FF draws end Twice) -1/4 enemy one attacks and the FF uses end, enemy 2 attacks with his 5 shot autofire, not only does the FF take end, it takes end from each shot that hits the FF untill it breaks. (so in this example the FF has to draw end up to 6 times depending on how many times the Autofire hits)
  23. uh, no exact numer, or howmany supers in the human population, but they are common enough that all but the most po-dunk towns have at least one, and almost all of teh TV shows have a supers or involve them, there are stores just for supers, magazines, schools, sports, all that sort of stuff. the thing is that many are low powered supers, or they don't care abotu being a hero or being a villian, so just use their powers to help their normal lives, or for TV, the best pyrotechnics for the movies are supers same with stuntmen (though even better are the super actors, who really are doing their own stunts, and really do take a tank shell in their chest)
  24. ok, I looked everywhere, asked everyone, but i just can't find the June issue of Games Trader Magazine, with the official write-ups of the hulk... could you guys post it here for me so i can see it or at least tell me a few more areas that i might try to get it?
