A couple of scenes I would like to see in the Black Widow movie--

We begin with an ending--specifically the ending of The Avengers at the shawarma scene--

An adorable little red-haired girl comes up to Natasha--

"You're one of the heroes, aren't you?"

Natasha smiles wearily. "I don't know as I'd say I was a hero--"

    "Can I have your autograph?"

    Natasha sighs. "Honey, I really don't think that's a--"

Then she trails off when she catches sight of Tony Stark across the table nodding his head and mouthing the words "Yes! Sign It! Come On!" She looks back at the little girl and sees the beginnings of disappointment in her eyes.

"Okay, sure," says Natasha, and takes the piece of paper the girl offers her. "What's your name?"

    "Tasha."

Natasha looks at her incredulously for a moment, then thinks for a moment and writes on the paper. She hands it back to Tasha, and she reads what's written out loud.

"To Tasha--Keep Fighting The Good Fight--Best Always--The BLACK WIDOW!" Tasha's eyes light up like Times Square. "That is so cool!  I'm gonna tell all my friends I got an autograph from the Black Widow!"

She launches herself at Natasha and gives her a big hug. "Thank You, Black Widow!" As she runs off, Natasha looks after her until Stark speaks again. "You see? It feels good to get recognized for a good job."

"Especially when you've earned it," says Steve Rogers, who offers Tony his hand. "I owe you an apology. I was wrong about you."

"You don't owe me anything," replies Tony. "But you could pick up the tab."

"Sorry," smiles Steve, "I left my wallet in my other suit."

"You have another suit?" jokes Tony, and they laugh at each other while Natasha looks off thoughtfully, trying to deal with what just happened.  Scant hours before she was Natasha Romanoff, agent of SHIELD and spy without a country.  Now--she's the Black Widow, defender of New York and one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

I'd also like a scene with Melinda May.  Something in a dive bar, I think--

"If it isn't the Black Widow."

    "If it isn't the Cavalry."

"You know I don't like that name."

"Don't know why.  As far as code names go, it's pretty solid.  Besides--isn't Chun Li taken?"

    "Oh, you're funny."

"Thanks.  I'm thinking of a career in stand-up comedy."

The bartender--who bears a remarkable resemblance to Stan Lee--steps up.

    "Ladies--whattya drinkin'?"

"Whiskey," they say in unison.  "Straight up."

    "What, no vodka?" says May.

"What am I, a cliche?  (Switches to Russian accent) You vant I should be chasing after Moose and Squirrel, dahlink?"

    May laughs.  "Now that's funny."

"I got a million of 'em."

    Or something like that.

I always thought of Luke as being the person who was supposed to bring "balance" of light and dark. He didn't have the weight of centuries of Jedi teachings, so he had love, anger, regret, hope etc still in him, but could get past them to function (sort of like a normal person is supposed to). The Jedi teachings apparently had grown to be to bury all emotions, which is why it had grown stagnant and wanted to start training children prior to age 5 or so. The Sith were supposed to be the exact opposite (strangely then, more Anakin and Kylo then Palpatine or Douku), and all about the more darker emotions. I always figured that's what they meant by balance to the force. Someone who could walk either path, but tended to walk neither, but just stay somewhere in the middle (hopefully more on the side of morality as opposed to light or dark).

I wish they would still do a Superman movie in the old serials vein of making it a Lois and Clark investigative movie, especially with movies like The Post out, and have Superman there to help "save the day" when they get in to far over their heads. One thing I really liked in the newer Superman movies was that Lois was actually an intrepid reporter and was good at it apparently.
Maybe do a Crime Syndicate movie (not the ones with the supervillain versions of the JL), with Lois investigating and writing on it and therefore being put in jeopardy because of it.
We have all mentioned that a big difference between the DCEU and the MCU is that Marvel has recognized that Superheroes can be a meta genre with other genre's under it (blockbuster adventure, war movie, heist movie, space opera) and DC just keeps trying to make (doomy and gloomy) superhero blockbusters. WW sort of changed that, being a war movie (as Captain America was) with WW thrown in and Greek overtones. If DC would realize this, they could do similar with political/crime reporting (Lois and Clark), Noir Detective (Batman or Flash), Space Opera (Green Lantern), semi-fantasy stuff (WW or Aquaman) and even Cyberpunkish (Cyborg).

I would disagree with no marvel show has had a good villain. I thought D'onofrio's Kingpin/Fisk was excellent, and Tennant's Purple Man was scary evil.

We watched Jumanji at one of the theaters with recliners, an enormous screen, and an awesome sound system. It was a very fun movie, and I look forward to seeing it again when it's available for streaming.

Actually, we did. When Obi Wan hands him the light saber and says it belonged to his father, someone who the force was very strong in. And he comments that the force is strong in Luke also.

Problem is, they started their franchise with MOS, which was a terrible characterization of one of the triumvirate of DC heroes they should build their Franchise on. Part of the whole Trinity thing is the differences in what the characters mean to the people of the DC universe.
Superman represents hope and that boy scout "Truth and Justice" thing. The Light if you will.
Batman has always represented the hero who will deal with criminals on their own level, without actually crossing certain lines. The Dark.
Wonder Woman has represented compassion and the balance point between the other 2. the gray as it were.

instead we got The Dark, The Darker in the first 2. Then hope, light, compassion in one person.

Not untrue, but I don't really see anything on TV or in the theater these days that I cannot point to a show in the last 70 odd years and say the same.   Or read a book for that matter without having read an older book that has already done it.

I have boarded the bus where being original is no longer a prerequisite, but rather how they tell the tale.

I really get a kick out of watching the younger crowds face when I dredge up the original of a "new cool show" and they realize the "genius" movie maker really just remade an old movie/show with better technology.

I thought the episode was very well done and enjoyed it. Only thing that got me was that little girl had the best memory for faces, bodies and clothing of anyone I have ever met. Then, she must have grown up to be an artist who could recreate said image perfectly, to the point that the lady coming out of the house with the baby recognized Kelly immediately.

I actually felt the whole opening where the world is mourning his death did more in 10 minutes of real Superman, then the other 2 movies combined. I really believe Joss probably put that part together. I know, from something I read, that he did the interview in the opening, because Cavil had grown a mustache for another movie, so they digitally removed it for the scene, which looked odd.
I can see Snyder in this, but I really think Joss tweaked stuff in editing, besides reshooting.

"Mad Idolatry" was officially the most Star Trek thing I've seen since TNG went off the air. Well done. I also got a genuine belly-laugh out of the opening with lonely-Ed trying to find someone to drink with. I'm glad I stuck with this show.

Honestly, they should beg Patty Jenkins to take over, because right now "From the Director who brought you Wonder Woman" is something that might have folks put money down for a DC movie

Okay, I enjoyed this a lot. I am a notoriously soft touch for superhero movies, but I rank it over Avengers: Age of Ultron below Avengers itself if you want a comparison. I had a great time, and didn't have to turn my brain off to do so. In fact, some of the little touches were telling.

Aquaman is a brunette, but they frosted his tips blonde, so that whole 'Blonde hair is considered unlucky/cursed' bit can still apply. While I expected him to be the action junkie/surfer bro kind of mentality, it went deeper that, and not just when he chatted with Mera about his Mother

Cyborg, for a guy caught in a CGI suit, did some solid acting. I was worried he'd be all "Interface guy" and that was all, but he got some action moments in as well. And I think the most telling lines for his character was at the start of the film
and the other near the end, where
This after more than one scene where he looks like hates his very existence.

Flash is the comedy routine, take that or leave it, but Batman gives him some great advice that, works . And for me, the comedy worked, others I understand found it a mixed bag. Barry as portrayed here is so green they should give him a power ring, but as the rookie he is rather adorkable. He also shows some brains despite his inexperience, coming up with a few good ideas.

The Amazons were awesome, despite being out matched by Steppenwolf.
Speaking of the bad guy, Steppenwolf was, IMO, a better villain than the ones in Iron Man 2 and 3 and Thor 2. Others might disagree. Well, they can't all be Loki.

Wonder Woman has some great moves in this, and we learn more about how the loss of Steve scarred her. If you are hoping this is HER Movie, nope, but it wouldn't be possible without her and that's made abundantly clear. She gets to try her hand at leadership a bit, not enough, but we can see the seeds of her reclaiming her place as an inspiration.

Batman did tell some funnies, but nothing that jolted me out of the story. More than that, he is much better portrayed than he was in Batman V Superman. He's still an ass at times
but he's not such a #### that you cease to like him.

And of course, to the surprise of almost no one who has read a comic

The movie is pretty fast paced, having over 50 minutes of footage cut, I guess it had to be.

And, rather upbeat despite the usual 'world in danger ' thing. The message of hope is not subtle, but then it shouldn't be.

the lighter palate besides 'gray and more gray' was a godsend there.

Stick around, there are two scenes during/after credits. I guess DC finally gave up and weent 'fine, you want it that way? let marvel say we're stealing it'. One was wonderful for Comics buffs, a nostalgic smile. The other? Well, it has a good hook, but has a downside for me as it is the one and only appearance of EISENBerG! god, i had hoped they cut him entirely. Still, at least you'll get to see another villain.

Maybe rewatch it again, especially the Directors Cut? For some reason DC Films are really plagued by too many scene being cut. As I german I usually get a less cut version and those extra scenes make all the difference.

I really liked that the trailers had a lot of "false flag" scenes in the Trailers, that did not make it into the movie. That keeps the story a lot less predictable for me, especially the later part. I jsut watched it today, so I will try to use my favourite lines (and the associated scenes).

They've come in a lot of variety (And props to Marvel for that as they have done 70s style Espionage thrillers, to Heists, to Space Opera etc) so not yet.

Now, Police and Crime Dramas on TV? If they stopped making those for a 3 year break I'd be quite happy.

What I'm saying is that Snyder's a one-trick pony--grim, gritty, bloody, dark spectacles do not a vibrant superhero universe make.  They could stand to brighten things up a bit.  It doesn't have to "copy" Marvel, but it should mirror the general tone of the comics these characters come from.  Superman is not grappling with seeing the difference between right and wrong and figuring out his role in the world.
