    The Brat Pack

Re: The Brat Pack ....I wish I could. At the end they do reveal the identity of the Great Supervillian, Dr. Blasphemy. And it's exactly who you think. He's just standing there, waiting for the heroes to show up, and they don't.... because.... GHNNNNN. It's just unpleasant.
  2. Re: Ninja HERO: Street Fighter IV Announced... Attached are images of Ken and Akuma for the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix remake, as by Udon Studios. The SF4 stuff is going to be cool, though.

  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Considering that Bestiary, before her first transformation into a lion-woman, was the Stereotypical Science Geek Girl That The Cheerleaders Teased And The Jocks Ignored? There was a brief desire for her to use her automutation power to take on the abilities of a humanoid rhino and charge people. She was, uh, really, really, REALLY not happy. (During a period of time when she lost her lion-form, and returned to her original power of adaptation, one of the PCs took her, shell-shocked, to his apartment, where his roommate said, "dude, can I bang the fat chick yet?" She has more than a few body image issues, especially considering her powers now include that she can become a humanoid form of any mammal. (I still don't have skunk-spray workable in 70 points.)
  5. Re: Teen adventure ideas? Some of the popular girls decide, for whatever reason, that one of the PCs needs their 'help'. Whether or not this is them setting that PC up for a major fall, or someone honestly thinks they just need that help, this clique just will NOT leave the PC alone.
  6. Re: Urban Fantasy Recommendation Mercedes Lackey and a few others (don't have them at hand), the SERRAted Edge and Bedlam Bards series, and spinoffs thereof. Includes urban fantasy, enchanted cars, elves trying to hide among humans (and not doing it well), and a lot of 'the world is weirder than you thing' underlying it all. Also, I am pleased that 'War For The Oaks' is already on the list.
  7. Re: Defunct Comic Publishers and Licenced Sourcebooks May I ask where? It sounds rather interesting.
  8. Re: WWCYD: Lethal Force is Authorized Gadgetqueen: There's a spaceship. We can fix that. Steel Thunder: A martial artist with the samurai code, with 10 points of CVK vs. 10 points of Bloodthirsty, with the OK to turn off holding back? Lots of people going down. Outback: things go kaboom. Bestiary: use the powers of the armadillo, including heavy armor and HUGE CLAWS, go for it. The Night: Infiltrate the mothership, send a recall order, set the navigation randomly, and hope to get off in time....
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Bala forgets to mention that, as usual, he forgets to give us clues as to things we can do to not make what he refers to as 'colossal errors'. Regularly. Repeatedly. As I said to him in a conversation, "Sherlock Holmes would look at your mysteries, hear you relate your clues, and say, 'Sir, did you forget that your descriptions are the entirety of the world they know, so that if you intend they have a clue of the scent of wildflowers, you should simply mention it, not force them to spend each moment asking you a million questions about their senses."
  10. Re: WWYCD?: Champions Universe Zombies Punch Balabanto in the head until pink goo dripped out his ears. (Zombie stuff gives me multi-night nightmare sequences; he knows this. Deliberately setting off Player Psych Lims is, for me, reason to beat.)
  11. Re: Gestalt is Online I have a copy! It is interesting and cool! I am very pleased with it. ...even if my name was misspelled by the author when he signed it.
  12. Re: Interviewing Leather (Interview with a Supervillain) Huh? You go to the bottom, click link for #1; read. Back, to go #2, click link for #2, read. It's like here.
  13. Eric Burns (of websnark.com fame) is doing a sequence of posts of a Rolling Stone reporter in a superhero universe who gets the assignment to interview a supervillian. I thought some people here might appreciate it. http://banter-latte.annotations.com/category/superhero/ is how you find it; I do recommend starting at the bottom with Part 1, and reading up. Enjoy!
  14. Re: MancerBear's Art Den I have to ask. I really do: Where can people find your commission rates?
  15. Re: Secret Identities and Teammates
  16. Re: Secret Identities and Teammates I play The Night in the mentioned campign. My character has a couple of very significant reasons for not wanting to give her secret ID out: She's the granddaughter of a supervillian who, years after his public death, is still one of the most reviled individuals who ever walked the planet. She has one of his weapons, which contains technologies that are illegal for people to have. And she has a device that, as far as anyone can tell, is completely unique. With these three things, she doesn't want people knowing. It just means more people to possibly leak this information, put her loved ones in dangers, et cetera. Also, she doesn't completely trust Seizure, and doesn't want the telepath to know her secrets.
  17. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Ember, to the Gadget Queen, after seeing her tunnelling device (which lifted a 4-foot-diameter circle, 25-foot-tall column of dirt of the ground): "Some days you worry me. Those days end in 'Y'." Gadget Queen, to Captain Unity, in the base of the Super Six, hidden since the late 1950s: "I am one of the most foolhardy people on the planet, with no percievable sense of self-preservation, and I think pressing the 'Call the President' button is a really bad idea."
  18. Re: The "weirdness magnet" disadvantage I have a character with that disad, as Lord Liaden posted it. He's a mage, the scion of the greatest family of black magicians in the world, and he spent years denying his magical heritage. As a result, excess mystic power that he should have been using swirls around him, causing him to be more 'visible' to magical situations. As a result, the character has about 15 points of contacts based on various weird situations he's gotten into while he wandered the United States looking for himself. (A retired succubus, a vampire who serves as a sherriff's deputy, four homunculi who are a hivemind, a tanuki in Denver...) It's great for RP purposes.
  19. Re: My next characters vehicle sample character sheet: Dodge Tomahawk Concept Motorcycle Val Char Cost 15 STR 0 13 DEX 9 15 BODY 4 6 SPD 37 25" RUN 0 0" SWIM -2 0" LEAP 0 Characteristics Cost: 62 Cost Power 53 Ground Movement +19" (25" total), x16 Noncombat Powers Cost: 53 Total Character Cost: 115 From what I could work out - I am not a motorhead - it's got speed, but not a lot of maneuverability, which is why it's got a SPD of 6, but only a DEX of 13. It may also need a phys lim of 'very heavy and bulky', representing the fact that it requires special equipment to keep it upright when not moving, is hard to pick up (unless you have superstrength, I suppose), and may not fit into a conventional motorcycle parking space. It also appears to have absolutely no safety gear, so the driver is totally at the mercy of the elements and anyone shooting at him. You might want to give a 60% arc of cover, based on the fact that there's a hugeantic hunk o' metal there, but that's a designer call.
  20. Re: Signs your Champions GM is now (fill in the blank) As someone who plays in this campaign, I now vet it for truth. True. True. This past year set a new winner in the PDR Listings (16 blocks of downtown San Diego). True, seen and played in. For the big ones, yes; otherwise, we pay our share, except for Sundays where we rotate. I have never actually seen this happen. True, and been the cause of it at least five times (which I think makes me #1 on the list.) True, mostly because I have a character with long-reaching plans. Or I get paged with "what the hell was so and so thinking tonight?". Calls for speculation on the moronity thereof. "Get me my master plan, section 142, section b, subsection 3." -- actual supervillian quote.
  21. Re: Rejected Superhero Names When strange radiation from a particle accellerator hit Bob Bobley in the groin he became... THE ATOMIC WANG! *fanfare* Also mutated in the same accident was a chimpanzee, linking the two. Now, when someone applies their hand to the chimp's backside, the Atomic Wang's greatest power is revealed.... I'm stopping now.
  22. Re: Your occupation, please. Steel Thunder: public ID, but teaches cooking and women's self-defence classes. Gadgetqueen: public ID, mad scientist. Monseigneur Jean-Claude des Champs: public ID, Roman Catholic Priest (assigned to the special spiritual needs of the superheroes of Earth, thus his place in the hierarchy) Mindshadow: secret ID, works for the FBI tracking down the very subtle psionic criminals The Night: high school student, secret ID. (gets out of school at 3; does homework, eats dinner, goes to sleep at 6, gets up at 10, patrols until 2, goes back to sleep, gets up at 7, goes to school; schedule different on weekends.)
  23. Re: CHAMPIONS REVISED -- If We Do It, What Would You Like To See? Built by the owner of a small RPG company to deal with cleaning up after his cat, the small plastic robot, filled with advanced chips, became resentful...
  24. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From our Teens Game, Mellisa Eilberg (The Night, Classic Detective Vigilante): "During the memorial service, I hide in the ceiling of the auditorium. I expect trouble, mostly because this is the memorial service of a girl who we have learned had her soul screwed up during an attempted resurrection and turned into a swamp-muck-monster-thing, and she's probably going to be kind of annoyed about the fact that there's a memorial when no one even knows who murdered her." "I use my linegun to grab the laser-shooting microphone before it shoots someone who can't use magical healing powers on themselves. Like, say, me, or even a cheerleader." "We need more clues about what the Buzzard wants. I don't mean we need to know exactly who. I mean, a manifesto. A note. Some carrion. SOMETHING. He just shows up, shoots someone randomly, and teleports away. He doesn't even monologue. I'm going to have to try to get there before he teleports, and engage him in dialogue. He'll have no choice but to rant about his plan." OOC comment: "You have immense psychic power. She's a weird alien. She's a powerful sorceress. He's encased in some kind of technology that gives him massive strength. He 'wields the power of the stars', which means as far as I can tell, he flies and shoots lasers. I... have a stun blaster, martial arts with no damage classes, and I figure things out. You'll excuse me if I feel slightly inadequate in comparison in combat. Out of combat, I can track down the bad guys, but I designed my character to deal with mostly normal-scale people. You deal with the ubervillian, I'll deal with his mooks, we'll all be fine."
