  1. Re: Something to help New Players I would suggest an Egoist next perhaps followed by the Power Armor character or a Mystic. (Not to knock the thread, but isn't this what the Champions of that Genre book are for?)
  2. Re: Super-Skills Megathread Not really a Skills per se, but definitely staples of movies / TV. Take My Hand!: The character grabs his partner / DNPC from the edge of a volcano/cliff/car about to go off a blown up bridge and holds on for dear life. Clinging (+10 STR) (13 Active Points); Limited Power Only to Hold Willing Subject and supporting structure or vehicle (-1/2), Cannot Resist Knockback (-1/4); Limited Power Must be anchored to a Vehicle or Stable Surface (-1) Total Cost: 5 pts. Do You Trust Me?: Take this character's hand and you will both land safely from seemingly impossible distances. Gliding 1", Usable Simultaneously (up to 2 people at once; +1/2); Limited Power Only to Survive an Impossible Leap / Fall (-1) Total Cost: 1 pt. Escape the Dragnet: Some Drivers can escape from multiple vehicles in pursuit even when they are seemingly completely blocked in usually by using the other vehicles against each other or by taking alleys that no sane person would attempt. Teleportation 10", Position Shift, x64 Increased Mass (Vehicle, Driver and Passengers) (55 Active Points); Limited Power Only While Driving (-2), Limited Power Only to Escape Multiple Pursuit Vehicles (-1/2); Requires a Combat Driving Skill Roll (-1/2) Total Cost: 14 pts.
  3. Re: What Do You Look For In A City Setting? Again, like Kirby, I have to reference San Angelo. There were Top Ten Lists (Corporations, Wealthiest, Socialites, Athletes, Most Popular Heroes, etc...) with NPCs and open spots for PCs to fill. I had a vigilante character in that city that had a running feud with a dirtbag developer named Morgan. This guy could have any building in the city condemned in an hour to buy out the property and rennovate it. He was a 50 pt NPC, but one of the nastiest villains I can remember. The guy was so connected and so good at keeping his nose clean, my character had to resort to psychological pressure such as breaking into his home and leaving momentos from the families who he had run out of their homes (dolls, broken picture frames, and such). I don't think the focus should be on volume, but on quality of NPCs and the clear mental picture of the atmosphere of the city. The book should give you that just by reading through it. That's what you got with San Angelo and what a City Book should be IMO.
  4. Re: Anyone have a writeup for a super archer? So far, my favorotes are (in no particular order)... Ghost Archer and The Marksman with an honorable mention for Azure Archer (I like the Kyujutsu package)

  7. Re: The New Avengers - Good Or Bad, Threat Or Menace? Like it or Hate it.....we ALL bought it.* Reminds me of a certain Saga (about Cloning) Disassembled will get swept under the rug sooner or later just like that story arc did and Avengers will keep on churning. Such is the way of comicdom. *(And those of you who didn't buy it shouldn't post about it because you don't know what you're talking about until you actually read it)

    Goblin Glider

Re: Goblin Glider Also if you have Hero Designer, The Ultimate Vehicle book is available as a downloadable .zip file containing all of the vehicle .hdc files for a paltry $7! I got it for my birthday and I use it often.

  13. Re: Firefly HERO Website Up Great work Jackalope! I love this show and can't wiat until the movie comes out next year (hey it almost is next year isn't it???) I think you have done a great job with all of the write-ups so far and can't wait for Simon, Nook, Serenity, etc....
  14. Re: Creating the power H to H Reflection Another (MUCH more expensive) way to do this would be. Melee Redirection Portals: (Total: 200 Active Cost, 200 Real Cost) EB 12d6, Damage Shield (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (150 Active Points) (Real Cost: 150) plus FF (50 PD) (Real Cost: 50); Cost: 200 I like the Missile Deflection option better. Compared to 50 pts for the same Power vs. Range I think this is terribly overcosted. But let no one say other options have not been explored.
  15. Re: Amazing Amoeba Powers Phagocytosis The ingestion of other cells / organisms. HKA (No STR) or Tunneling since he's a hero and wouldn't devour his enemies.
  16. Re: Galactic Martial Arts Compendium. Nothing too specific here, but just some feedback (and a thread bump to keep it on the front page). Maybe it should go in the Star Hero room too. I would think that the Mondabi would have a very defensive martial art that employed their tails. The Ackalians would obviously have an agressive MA, maybe theirs and the Mondabi have a similar background (again with the tails) but extremely different philosophies. The Malvans I would imagine to have a very fluid, artistic, showy style akin to Kung Fu, Capoera (sp?) or Wa Hrang Do (sp?) Then again these species may all have dozens of styles (just like we do).
  17. Re: Creating the power H to H Reflection So would you be okay with it as a -0 effect, since it is effectively exchanging one class of attacks (ranged) with another (HTH)? Like this... Melee Redirection Portals: Missile Deflection (Any Melee Attack), Missile Reflection, Reflect At Any Adjacent Target (50 Active Points); Limited Power Only vs. Hand to Hand Attacks (-0) Cost: 50 pts. After thinking about it, this power should probably cost END also, but that's up to the original player/GM to decide. BTW, Vorsch I appreciate an open exchange of ideas; stupid or otherwise. Thanks for the input.
  18. Re: Creating the power H to H Reflection This one was new to me when my group's Teleporter came up with it... He uses his Aportation (Teleport Useable as an Attack) in concert with his Martial Arts for a Multiple Power Attack. Ports a target over to him (facing away for surprise) as he connects with a roundhouse kick to the back of the head. Great for cutting that enemy speedsters DCV in half.
  19. Re: Creating the power H to H Reflection Greatwyrm is a genius! Melee Redirection Portals: Missile Deflection (Any Melee Attack), Missile Reflection, Reflect At Any Adjacent Target (50 Active Points); Limited Power Only vs. Hand to Hand Attacks (-1/2) Cost: 33 pts.

    UNTIL vs. PRIMUS?

Re: UNTIL vs. PRIMUS? I think of PRIMUS and UNTIL like the CIA and the FBI. Organizations that are both funded from a similar source, but have very different agendas and organizational structures. PRIMUS' Silver avengers and Golden Avenger are "the official US superteam" with the best para-military support ever seen. Where as UNTIL has to focus not only on policing the world's supers, but aid missions, negotiations, diplomacy, etc... If push came to shove, the US has a history (in the Champions verse) of pushing UNTIL out the door to make room for PRIMUS, so it seems reasonable they would choose to again.
  23. Re: Animated Series Style Character Images Very clean, crisp lines Chimpira, a style I am quite fond of. Reminds me of Jonathan Davenport's work from the HERO books.
  24. Re: Eberron Hero With the Dragonmarks and the world recovering from a Great war and all the political intrigue going on this setting reminds me of the old Birthright setting, but I am only going on what I have read in your posts and the WotC website.

    Help with GM

I am in a group of regular Champions players and we try to play every other Friday night. For the most part, I am the GM for these games, but there is one other member of the group willing to step up occasionally and run games. I am grateful that he gives me a break from running all the games and a chance to play some of the heroes I really love. However, (you knew that was coming) the games he runs are sub-par and frustrating in that he has grand ideas, but doesn't want to follow them through to their conclusion because it would involve too much NPC role-playing or massive combats and when he does run a combat (usually a robbery or break-in scenario) he is frustrated that we handle the 350 pt villains from CKC with our 400 pt characters. Other player in our group have come to me and asked that I just run all of the games beacause they don't enjoy when he does. How can I help him run better games without him washing his hands of the whole thing and losing the only other potential GM in our group? My ideas so far... - Buying Champions Battlegrounds for him to run (he would never buy it himself) - Writing up a set of Plot Seeds for our Characters (although it doesn't seem like coming up with game ideas is the issue). Any help / input would be much appreciated.
