BarretWallace reacted to Pattern Ghost in [Police brutality] American injustice, yet again.
If by anytime soon, you mean never, then we agree.

My son's school has canceled evening classes a couple of times in recent weeks, due to curfews and other offshoots of our recent social unrest. I usually don't fear much for his safety, but this does bring home how serious the situation is.
I would not want to be a juror, judge, or anyone else involved in the Chauvin case. Tensions are so high that no matter what the verdict is, someone on one side or another will be dissatisfied. I hope I'm wrong and that all this tension can somehow lead to honest debate, then peace and justice, rather than more anger, destruction, or worse, bloodshed.

Last night's Zoom call with the family turned into a full-blown political debate. Some of my cousins have really drunk the Kool-aid and spewed the crap the Trump supporters love to proclaim, from the election being rigged to Covid-19 being a hoax. Even my cousin from the Philippines called bs on their claims.

I had my second shot yesterday (Pfizer). I woke up this morning with chills, fatigue, and general aches and pains--not incapacitating, but I can barely focus enough to play with chemicals. At least that means my immune system is doing its job!

One of my brother-in-laws and one of his kids came down with COVID this weekend -- and he still has no issue with his kid participating in sports, potentially infecting others. He also has some bug up his butt against Fauci.

Thank you for doing what you do for those kids. If I think of better words I'll send them, and I know the previous sentence sounds trite, but it is at least sincere.
You've gotta take care of you, man. I'll go out on a short limb and guess that your employer sure won't.

My school held Prom last night, with a couple of differences from previous years:
1) It was held outdoors on the football field;
2) Everyone was required to wear masks for the entire event; and
3) Everyone had to have a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of the event.
We've been doing a biweekly testing event for athletes and those in performing arts at my school since January. We expanded the testing on Friday morning to include Prom participants (who had to sign up and buy tickets in advance). I spent 7:00-11:30 Friday morning checking kids in for testing. We processed and tested almost 1500 kids that day.

“It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of sumbitch or another. -- Malcolm Reynolds”
Personally, I'm sure that Lincoln (along with every single other human what came cryin' into the world) had his accomplishments, his mistakes, his merits, and his flaws. He was neither angel nor demon, just human.

(Not directly relevant to the thread, but it was a frequent point of discussion here a while back.)
