The US Women's Nation Team (football) earned a disappointing bronze medal at the 2020(1) Tokyo Olympic Games. A couple of days ago, legendary team member Carli Lloyd announced that she's retiring from the international game. Equally Megan Rapinoe is thought to be pondering retirement as well. There have been murmurings of dissatisfaction with coach Vlatko Andonovski. The roster is visibly aging. Where will the US Women go from here?

My first thought is, it's HARD to maintain a team as dominant as the USWNT.  Whatever it was that led them to be that good, isn't easy to identify or nurture.  So, yeah, as the Old Guard leaves, some slippage is not surprising.

Pretty good chance they'll return to the pack.  Still contend for medals, but they won't be the massive favorites they've been.

FWIW, the Mexican men's national soccer team is sort of in the same state: the old guard are aging, and there does not appear to be a similarly talented cohort of young players to take their place.  FIFA still ranks Mexico over USA, but USA have some highly visible, very good young players.  That the US federation are grossly inept and it isn't clear that they have an adequate coach in place ... witness their failure to make it to the World Cup in Russia in 2018 ... may be what is holding USA back from claiming undisputed leaders in CONCACAF.

Long story short: Concerts bring in more revenue than hockey games.

City of Glendale, Gila River Arena will cut ties with Arizona Coyotes following 2021-22 NHL season

The favorite relocation destination appears to be Tempe. But why not move the team to someplace where they actually care about hockey, like Quebec City? But they didn't ask me.

This weekend here in Seattle is a novelty: a double-header of soccer games, both rivalry games (it is rivalry day in MLS).  The opener is the women's teams, the Reign vs the Portland Thorns; the later game is the MLS match,  Sounders vs the Portland Timbers.  Forecast is sunny with highs in the 70s.
