Hermit
This one has a lot of presupositions: Your character, for whatever reason, is currently solo (Maybe your old team broke up, or maybe it's a vacation in an alternate dimension and you're the only one home) He (or she) is in the official 5e Champion's Universe. Now, assuming the above applies (or you at least think there might be an alternate version of your character in that world)... Defender of the Champions gathers a press conference. Witchcraft, Nighthawk, Sapphire, Ironclad and yes, Kinetik gather behind him. "We would like to announce that Kinetik is officially joining our ranks. We're grateful to him, and think, and have always thought he'd make a find addition to the team." Some applause ensues, and Kinetik cracks a joke then grows more serious about how he hopes to continue to be a role model for the African-American community. Defender then makes a surprise announcement, "But we need more. Right now, we need a lot of heroes, and fast. I can't go into details, but we're willing to expand our membership into forming other regional teams if need be. Something big is coming, and while the public doesn't need to worry, the super hero community does. Even if you don't wish to join, we could use your short term help. Homestead's number is in the book. Please, have at least a year under your belt as a super hero... this could be dangerous." Information on how to contact them is provided, and this conference is over What would your character do?
SomeAsianKid
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Paradox- call them up. Paradox is specifically a spy for the CIA on superhuman affairs. Sounds like the perfect gig to him. Jade- Wouldn't join out of loathing for Witchcraft, but would offer his teleportation services for the good of the cause.
McCoy
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Millennium: Join at once. Iron Will: Any team that would send a 13 year old quadroplegic out to fight is one so irresponsable that he would not want to join. But would offer to paqrticipate in a support role. Dolphin: Would need more info about upcoming threat before commiting. Cheetah and Snow Leopard: Will join.
Hawksmoor
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch My old PC The Z-Man would call up his old buddy Defender and ask why he wasn't clued in the moment old Def knew something was up. Then he would mobilize his version of Vanguard and set up a regional C&C for the uncoming Godwave or Invasion or Attack of White Wolvies that lost their favorite game Hawksmoor
drrushing
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Nightwatch, is based in Millenium City. Seeing the "advertisement", he would use his computer skills, crack the code into Homestead, downloading the info. Depending on the seriousness, possibly approach them with his services or at least some useful information.
Blue
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Knowing their reputation, Anthem would apply see if there is a means by which they are seeking applications. After all, she was turned down by the New Sentinels (the team with which she currently runs around but is not a member). Uncle Slam has a job. But as he helped to organize the New Sentinels he would make recommendations to them. He would even offer to contact some who would be difficult for the team to reach. Guest WhammeWhamme
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch (Note: All would be transplants/CU version ofs) Sludge: Nope. Then again, he's a teen villain. Robot: He's there. He's also somewhat underpowered (although the CU him could be the full 350, I suppose). Still, if something big is going down... Flippant: Well, it's not likely that he'd be dimension stranded. He'd think about it for a while. Eventually he'll settle on 'This is big. I suppose I should get on board." Wraith: Non-US character, but (assuming the word got to him), he'd ask what was going on. Bedouin: He's there, and probably giving advice on how things could be done better. ghost-angel
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch ghost - would assume they're saving the world .. and since that's how she got out of the paid-assassin gig to begin with she figures that's her new lot in life and would look to join up.. but, they'd have to be dead certain they want someone of her lethality involved. ghost plays for keeps. Jessica - would join to prove on a public scale that vampires are werewolves aren't all bad .. really they aren't. Stone - would join, hands down. most of the rest of my characters would follow Stone and join outright.
Pulsar
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Pulsar would contact them and if they could convince him that a threat was real would join them, but he does play for keeps when the stakes are high and is not the best team player being something of a loner. Supreme Serpent
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Oddly enough, I am currently in a "branch Champions" game, though there was no single big menace that prompted it. assault
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Assault isn't based in the US, but would enquire about what is going on and whether or not he should be concerned/involved. Vorsch
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Sylph would infiltrate the Homestead forcing the Champion to track her down and have a fight, showing her worth and join after she was beaten, her version of a interview. Probabilly steal Defenders armour Or she would become his girlfriend, and then reveal herself latter. ( kidnap herself and have defender rescue her ) Silver Eagle would just turn up stating that he wants to reform the Freedom Squad as team leader and would like to interview all the applicants for his approval, He would just assume that they would jump at his offer as he is a Primus Silver avenger with American eagle type battlesuit. ( will take it badly when they laugh at him )
farik
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch If he saw it first Husky would rush to sign up as soon as he saw the newsclip. Kenneth would then scramble to protect Husky's true nature and generate more evidence that Husky is an Alien from a dead world. The Super genius side of Kenneth will fear the complications of being part of a team. The socially inept teenager side will be overjoyed about belonging to something. Lord Mhoram
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Both Blackcat and Ballistic are old warhorses in the super biz (each have been played for over 10 years and are on scads of points). Ballisitc would jet on over to Homestead and talk to them about organizing both the techs and the mystics and set up comminications between teams, and call in old friends to help out. Blackcat (her old teams tactician, combat leader and trainer) would show up to be the overtrainer for the teams, and head tactician (her skill rolls there are in the 18/19 or less level, in her home campaign she ended up the worlds greatest supers tactician and strategist). She would go into her "totally focused" mode and would spend most every waking minute working on the problem Defender alluded to, and how best to manage the teams. caris
Re: What would your character do (65?) -Recruiting pitch Adonis, would call Homestead and request to speak to Defender. If Defender were to take or return the call, Defender would receive a dressing down about “irresponsible and reckless behaviorâ€, “inciting unnecessary panicsâ€, and “increasing fears of PWPs (People with Powers)â€. Finally, after all that was over inquire as to the nature of the crisis, and how he might be of assistance.
