L. Marcus
No love for Neil Gaiman? Although that part feels 100% Pratchett, afterwards both said that they themselves couldn't say who wrote what in the book.
Cancer
No, love the book and the two authors. I just think they skimped on the levels of misdirection in that particular place.

I buy Keaton and Durante, but the two on the left are unquestionably Laurel and Hardy, not Abbot and Costello. slikmar

Cancer
I have seen windows that have been frosted like that, but certainly not here in Seattle.
Pariah
I remember occasionally seeing frost patterns like that on the interior wall of my bedroom in the house I grew up in. Old house, poor insulation, no central heating (just a wood-burning stove in the living room). Good times.
Cancer
The mobile home my folks lived in for years, heated by pellet stove. Same sort of deal.
Pariah
Ours was an actual house, very old. How old depended on what part of the house you were in. You could pretty much tell what additions were made when by the varying heights of the ceilings. It's telling that the last two additions to the house were the side porch and the bathroom. That house doesn't exist anymore. My parents had a manufactured home placed on the same property (~5 acres) and moved into it about 15 years ago. After the old house was emptied, it was knocked down, bulldozed into a huge pit, burned, and covered over. The trees that surrounded the house are still mostly there, though, so you can see where the front and back yards used to be.
