And gaining experience by killing monsters and grabbing their loot.

For some reason, the monsters live in underground dwellings with strange architecture, apparently living off dust until they get their hands on the player characters.

Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous)

A friend worked for a consulting firm that was very rigid in its badge naming scheme. The badge was always:

First name

Middle Initial Last Name

Since my friend had no middle name, he was issued a middle initial of "N" for "No Middle Name" -- like I said, rigid. There was another employee there named [roughly] James Phillip Enis.

They relaxed the naming rule.

Least it wasn't Harry Charles Ock!

Pun Hero, where the Pun is mightier than the sword.

Soap Opera Hero companion 2: It was all a dream. Doctoer Destroyer wasn't shot after-all. But, Ironclad has something he must tell Defender:

IC: Defender, your daughter has made my son pregnant.

(pan out to a wide veiw of Millenium City)

D (VO): HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?!?!?!?!!!! (echo)

Bad Supplement ideas:

Millenium City Sewage Treatment Plant

Actually this would be cool for those radiation accidents heroes always seem to have. And a very interesting place to have a superfight. Sewer gas is flammable right? and can make you sick:eg: !

Used properly, Excel allows you (as the GM) to tear down the 4th Wall, wad it up, and toss it over your shoulder. She can comment on the game, the characters, game mechanics, and die rolls freely, and even talk to the players (no, not the PCs, the *players*!). Of course, a character this wacky isn't really suitable for most settings (Here's an idea -- don't have Excel come to the PCs, send the PCs to Excel's world!), although she is less annoying than CLOWN. Finally, for all of you who can't even begin to conceive of a use for Excel in your campaign, I offer this suggestion -- every where you see the name "Lord Ilpalazzo" on the character sheet, cross it out and write in "Foxbat." 'Nuff said... ^_^

Shouldn't she have Clairsentience, Extradimensional, into the dimension the game is taking place in?

Lucius Alexander

Still trying to upgrade the palindromedary's Extradimensional Movement.....

Human Occupied Landfill. It's scifi on acid - fun to read, weird to play.

Wikipedia is your friend - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hol_(role-playing_game)

I also like the HOL skill of -

"Making Sharp Things Go Through Soft Things That Scream and Bleed"

HOL does have the best skill list of any RPG.

My personal favorite: Telepathy through Pummellation.

Besides where else can you have Pope Man and Altar Boy, The Spud and Tater Tot, The Man with No Nam, etc...

HOL Hero... hmmm.... spicy.....

This is Excel we're talking about....

Where if you try to change one cell in an array, it crashes your whole system?

Lucius Alexander

"Dude, you brought a boss battle into a spreadsheat program?" The palindromedary has been reading Kid Radd lately.

Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous)

Loner HERO: Want to play an antisocial misfit who'd rather shlep down the bad streets whining about his lousy life, then be a hero? Want to force the GM to drag your character into doing stuff, to come up with his motivation for giving a s**t about the looming End Of Life As We Know It? Passive/agressive grab the spotlight your bag? Then Loner HERO is for you!

{Gun to shoot the player who does this sold seperately.}
