Patriotic Heroes

Major Freedom

Recommended Posts

Okay

I'm running a campaign that has contact with a group of "Super" patriots

I have most of the team's members names ... each of the Branches of the US military have a trained Specialist in this unit.

Freedom - General US Army Rangers

Patriot - Major US Marines ForceRecon

Thunderbolt - Captain US Airforce SOC

Liberty - Commander US Navy Seals

Re: Patriotic Heroes

I recall someone (DC?) having Major Victory.

Part of the Force of July, IIRC.

Marvel, actually, I think ... they recycled the name for Vance Astro (Guardians of The Galaxy) once he got his containment suit off.

Side note, someone once played a character named Force of July in a game I was in ... it was a cross between Captain America and The Tick.

Re: Patriotic Heroes

You're both right. DC used the name for a character before Marvel, but Marvel did give it to Vance Astro, probably after the death of DC's character freed up the name. Link

To keep the theme of the characters that Major Freedom (heh!) has already devised, you'd just need to add nouns that reflect qualities popularly associated with the United States. "Liberty," "Justice" and "Unity" all come to mind, but there are undoubtedly other appropriate ones.

Rep for your comics-fu. I've actually made Heroclix conversions of both Major Victories.

Major Force is great for a kinetic or velocity controller. Yes, he's a DC baddie, but I wouldn't let that stop me.

Major Glory is a great name as well.

General Justice has a weird alliterative thing working for it, but it misses IMHO.

Maybe...

Major Force: Marine Force Recon (?)

As for the rest, it depends on how negative you're willing to let the descriptors go. Willingham had a Commander Chaos in the Elementals run.

Do you have power sets in mind?

Re: Patriotic Heroes

Let's see...

Private Parts

Corporal Punishment

Captain (fill in the blank, just about anything works with "Captain")

Commander (fill in the blank, just about anything works with "Commander")

Major Force

Major Glory

Major Victory

Major (and so on)

General Chaos

General Mayhem

General (and so on)

Okay, so few of these were serious....

:D

Re: Patriotic Heroes

What about Feldwebel Freiheit (Sgt. Freedom)?

Deutsche Einheit (German Unity)?

Der Bundesadler (Federal Eagle)? Or just Der Adler (The Eagle)?

Schwarz-Rot-Gold (Black-Red-Yellow - The Teutonic Triblings)?

Vaterland (Fatherland)?

Hauptmann Hoffnung (Captain Hope)?

Einigkeit (Unity), Recht (Justice) and Freiheit (Freedom) [three heroes]?

Hauptmann Schwarz-Rot-Gold (Capt. Black-Red-Gold]?

Just in case anybody out there needs German Patriotic herioes that are not neo-nazis or reactionary to boot.

Re: Patriotic Heroes

Major Rights (He'd probably throw some major lefts too)

Captain Independance

General Liberties sounds like he could do what he wants when he wants.

Does the US Navey have "Commadores"? It sounds much more navy like. Much like Admiral (Though I have no Admiral _______ suggestions)

I always thought that Barbarossa would make a good name for a German patriot hero.

Or of course you could always just go with 'Hauptmann Deutschland'. ;)
