As any god as my witness, I must sample this...

The 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon BLT Melt.

Hickory Smoked Bacon, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Black Pepper Crusted Slab Bacon, Italian Pancetta, Sweet Candied Bacon, House-made bacon infused mayonnaise, Herb Cream Cheese with crisp bacon bits mixed in, Sharp Cheddar, Fresh romaine lettuce and tomato

Today I sampled The Grenade over at a little local place called "The Lion on Lorain" -- Pressed sandwich on cibatta bread with bacon, crispy pork belly, tomato, lettuce, crisp onion strings and a honey beer mustard with pickle and sweet potato tater tots on the side.

I'm in love... :eg:

I feel weird being a lifelong Portlander who's never gone to Voodoo Doughnuts. But looking at the menu I didn't see anything that cried out and demanded that I eat it.

I'm somewhat more traditional with my donuts. I favor maple bars, for example. There was a seasonal doughnut at one of the shops I really enjoyed with coconut frosting and sprinkles and pineapple filling (real pineapples).

If it ain't filled and has raspberry jam as a filling then it ain't a doughnut !

I prefer maple bars but a doughnut will do in a pinch. If I was the professor on Gilligan's Island, I'd make the doughnut maker one of my top priorities.

Doughnut is to doughnut as maple bar is to what? ;)

I love a good satay. There was a Thai place I used to love going to back when I was a kid that had excellent beef satay (and the peanut sauce was perfect). Alas' date=' it's no more...[/quote']

That's a shame. There isn't a Thai or Indonesian restaurant where I am, so I haven't had satay in a while. My first taste of it was in Amsterdam when I was a kid. My Dad was being trained to fly the DC-10 there, so he took the whole family on vacation.

I always wanted to experience a Rijsttafel. Haven't had the good fortune yet...
