In 1967, she joined his staff as a top assistant and served double duty as the master villain’s mistress. Things were pretty good for Cordelia, sure she had to put up with that idiot Cooke's clumsy advances, but he was easily put in his place. When Artifex took his third apprentice a dozen or so years later, she had already begun her career as a monster maker. Artifex's enhancement serum was only the beginning for Miss St. Croix; she used her expanded intellect and advanced knowledge to further alter her body. She had considered leaving the Office for years but her own "practice" had yet to take off and she enjoyed the resources as well as felt a kinship towards Megan and her mentor. When the insufferable Cooke staged his coup, Cordelia released a few of her experiments on his agents and challenged the wanna be master villain to combat - he responded by sending his "Elite Assassins" to dispose of her. After making short work of the assassins, she went looking for him only to find he'd manage to kill Artifex, only to be defeated by Megan. A brief farewell to her fellow apprentice and Madame Echidna was on her own. She opened her own "Practice" in the Swiss Alps and has spent the last 3 decades making monsters for fun and profit. Personality/Motivation: Cordelia is more than a bit twisted. A sociopath who doesn't enjoy killing, she prefers to experiment on willing subjects or create life from scratch - but she has no real emotional attachment to anyone but herself. She does have a fondness for Megan Thomas who was a fellow apprentice to the original Dr. Artifex - but that's about it. She doens't appreciate any woman who compares to her appearance but she feels marring them is beneath her. She also has shown a soft spot for children who've been mutilated or born with physical deformities occasionally curing them for free. Cordelia is a sensate hedonist, vain about her appearance and prowess she collects pretty boys and turns them into "Prettier" monsters. Fickle but not necessarily cruel she sees herself outside of the whole morality thing. Powers/Tactics: Mme. Echidna avoids combat if at all possible. And never lets on about her enhanced physical attributes - but a cagey hero can judge she's more than a simple scientist. When she is drawn into battle, usually out of desperation or in a vanity induced grudge match against a heroine - she uses her metahuman strength and speed along with a brutal self-developed combat style. She carries a steel whip and a blaster pistol as well - using them more to bluff as they're not real threats to anyone but agents. Campaign Use: A supplier of superhuman muscle, Madame Echidna's MO is to create monsters; she can be convinced to create "Beautiful" people...but she doesn’t like it. Appearance: Cordelia is a peerless beauty with a flawless complexion, a lush yet athletic build, ebony hair and emerald eyes. She has a melodic voice and moves with a supernatural grace. She has a definite "Bad Girl" flair in her modes of dress, showing off her assets, making men drool and other women furious. When she's acting the part, she'll wear her hair in a rather severe bun and glasses, putting a white lab coat over her outfit. (She's somewhat based off of GI Joe's Baroness if that gives you any ideas)
fbdaury
Re: Madame Echidna, maker of Monsters (1239 pt Mastervillain) Nice- rarely do I decide to "borrow" the creations of others in whole but if you don't mind, I think this fine lady might be able to find a home in my gameworld I am in the process of constructing. I will rep this post once I am again able to rep you.
Major Tom 2009
Re: Madame Echidna, maker of Monsters (1239 pt Mastervillain) Talk about your femme fatales... It's a good thing that Madame Echidna is limited to the Champions Universe. Can you imagine what she'd be like if she was partnered with Mister Matthews (from the Silver Age Sentinels universe)? Definitely a match made in Hell. Major Tom 2009

Enforcer84
Re: Madame Echidna, maker of Monsters (1239 pt Mastervillain) I'm proud of her in that she's not really capable of giving an average supreteam a beating...like lots of my Villains are. One or two? Sure, but if the Avengers came after her it's release the hounds and run. oh and if you want to use her...

Mr. R
Re: Madame Echidna, maker of Monsters (1239 pt Mastervillain) Echidna in greek myth is the mother of monsters. She spawned the Learnean Hydra, the Neman Lion and the Chimera, just to name three. If a monster was needed, she spawned it. Her goal was to make life miserable for the greeks and any heros coming from said region.

assault
Re: Madame Echidna, maker of Monsters (1239 pt Mastervillain) Of course you realise that the Mother of Monotremes was almost certainly responsible for the creation of the weirdest monster of them all - the Platypus! More seriously, it really is a shame that this awesome character sparks jokes like this. Since it's unlikely that this response would be unique to the people here, I suspect it means that the character might not really be usable under this name. This is a shame, especially since I have a soft spot for Greek mythological references.

At one point a random person at the diner tells the protagonist that he needs a different name because he doesn't suck blood.
