When IS the future, exactly?

Re: When IS the future, exactly?

Could these figures (especially the near future up and down) have something to do with recessions and general life standart?

When you have it good, you can loose yourself in the far future. But if you got problems now, the near future (the one you might actually experience) is more intersting.

Or perhaps the oposite?

Some of them have to do with technology trends. The popularity of cyberpunk in the 80s had a lot to do with changes in computer technology, and most cyberpunk stories are near future, so that put near-future SF over the top in the 80s.

Hmm, I was surprised that the 1950s didnt have many near future, relatively. Given how "the bomb" was supposed to be dropped any day.

I'm sorry, you seem to have missed it. Your future has passed.

Would you like to schedule a new future at a later date?
