  1. Re: "Neat" Pictures Rule 37: There is no "overkill". There is "Open fire" and "I need to reload". from "70 Rules of Maximally Effective Mercenaries"
  2. Re: DC/Marvel Characters in Your Campaign For my campaigns, I have the DC/Marvel characters be what they are: characters in comic books, television and movies. Call yourself Superman, get hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit. Of course, I allow Captain Ersatz version of DC/Marvel characters, if that's what the players want to play.
  3. Re: Analysis of the Red-Shirt Phenomenon in Star Trek I just finished it (like, yesterday)... I strongly reccommend it to anyone who loves classic Star Trek, or TV Science Fiction in general. I intend to buy a copy to loan out to my sister, dad, and friends.
  4. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Slow my internet connection so much that two guys posted while my post was loading.
  5. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Teh Bunneh: Give out? He'll be seizing the trick or treaters loots for his own nefarious purposes! Bwahahahaha! Like taking candy from a... well, you know.

  7. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... 4th edition DnD-ness Theren the Archer, Elven Ranger Goguin the Faithful, Dwarven Cleric Lucius the Pyro/Cyromaniac, Tiefling Elementalist Terios the Moo, Minotaur Fighter Darius the Deadly, Mul Battlemind Orr the Conjuction, Half-Orc Rogue Final session: the GM has decided he's had enough of us. Or got a job offer in Los Angeles, it's hard to say. So, we'll be starting a new campaign with one of the players taking the screen, and the former GM saying he'll drive down for the game so long as he doesn't have to run it... So, final session had a super boss battle, and here's our best clips... Lucius hides behind the Terios... Lucius: I cast Minotaur Shield! Goguin is dominated, and attacks Theren Theren: Ow, my face! Terios: He's a dwarf, he can't reach your face. Theren: Ow, my spleen! Theren hit by a gaze attack Theren: Dad, the demon keeps staring at me! With Goguin and Orr dead, Terios and Darius down and out, Theren and Lucius consider a plan... Theren: I'm going to run for it. Lucius: We know there's no way out of here, and they're between us and the exit. Do you want people to say you died with your boots on, or that you died a coward? Goguin: OOC "Died with his track shoes on!" So, anyway, we completed the quest for a set of magic items and returned them and Goguin's body to his temple. Final results... Theren the Archer, Elven Ranger: Living in wilderness area near city, doing ranger stuff. Goguin the Faithful, Dwarven Cleric: Martyr of the Faith, body in tomb under temple, it is said that he'll walk again if Moradin needs him (if the GM decides to restart the campaign; GM has stated that if he takes up the screen again he'll restart the campaign at level 21) Lucius the Pyro/Cyromaniac, Tiefling Elementalist: Sets up shop in town to study magic/sell cheap magic trinkets Terios the Moo, Minotaur Fighter: Working as city guardsman for the brute squad (He is the brute squad!) Darius the Deadly, Mul Battlemind: Deceased, player says he'll create a new character if the campaign restarts. Orr the Conjuction, Half-Orc Rogue: Working for the town thieves guild.

  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... So, you're playing a lesbian cougar?
  11. Re: World with superheroes - Only one power set? This sounds like a 'limited origin' campaign... a handful of groups of metahumans with similar origins. Ripping off from various authors... The Jedi are a extra-national orginzation using a mix of martial arts and psi to manipulate world events. (George Lucas) Thier rivals/competitors include... The Black Collar, founded in communist Russia, used martial arts plus biochemical enhancement to prevent the Jedi from interfering in "internal affairs of the peace loving Soviet Union". (Timothy Zahn) C.O.B.R.A., the United States response to the Russian Black Collars, cyborgs. (Also Timothy Zahn) The Night Tigers, the PRC's response to both the Soviets and the U.S. It took one heck of a bribe to convince Chuin to train dozens of martial artists some of the secrets of Sinanju... The Hashaseen, not all 'secret societies' are benevolant. The Old Man of the Mountain trains his operatives in disguise, stealth, and assassination, delivering the message in the blood of thier enemies: obey or be next. (history and legend). I'm sure others could add more. So, the PCs are members of one of these groups and the only metahumans are part of one of these groups...

  13. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Seven Brides for Seven Samarai Fantastic Four Seasons Jason vs. Predator vs. Alien vs. Freddy Whoever kills the most teenagers wins! To make it 'fair' the teenagers will include the Teen Titans.

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... 4th edition DnD-ness Theren the Archer, Elven Ranger Goguin the Faithful, Dwarven Cleric Lucius the Pyro/Cyromaniac, Tiefling Elementalist Terios the Moo, Minotaur Fighter Darius the Deadly, Mul Battlemind Orr the Conjuction, Half-Orc Rogue So, I've missed some sessions, and this may be out of context... we're still in Hell, looking for some missing Angels and to give the Book of Vile Darkness to the Lord of Hell in order to get out of his debt. Lucius has a way with the ladies... You're pretty. You'd be prettier on fire. Describing the scene... GM: You hear heavy breathing. Goguin: Great, a pervert. Terios: PerVECT! Confronted by a giant brain... Darius: I wonder if it's afraid of zombies. We try to hide... Monster: We know you are in the closet, come out! Terios: Fabulous! Lucius complains... Lucius: Why is everything here evil? Therin: We're in Hell, stupid. Therin is dominated... Goguin: The devil is making him do it. Therin tries to fight Therin: I target the nearest creature! Terios: That would be Goguin. Therin: I target the nearest enemy. Terios: That would be Lucius. Dealing with a Devil Therin: Now I guess you'll try and kill us. Devil: No, I can hire someone else to do it. Lucius: I'll do it! We get thrown out. Orr: It sucks to be banned from Hell.

  23. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities Dawkins is a jerk who makes nonbelievers look bad. Dawkins sees no difference between the fanatic who shot up the Sikh temple and the Sikhs who were worshiping there. By his 'logic' there is no difference between myself (a quiet nonbeliever) and himself (a jerk).
