Given the way the comics portray things, it should be a limitation to not be able to instantly accelerate to full speed.  How many characters in the media have to work their way up to speed?

There's a lot of "well, scientifically and realistically, it should do damage" above.  There are no rules that say that the acceleration does damage. Not when you Grab-By at 150 MPH and move with the target for the rest of your move.  Not when you Grab something you can't move (but then it doesn't move with you), although I believe here are velocity-type damage adders either ruled or suggested to break the object free).

Quicksilver or the Flash don't fly but the concept is similar when, suddenly, the dozen or so normals who were hostages inside with the villains are standing outside with the heroes.  They're typically dazed and confused, but not injured.  Of course, damage from such a move could easily be the SFX of a Move By or Move Through.

I think there's an advantage for Flight that allows instant acceleration, although I have found few games where the acceleration and deceleration rules are rigorously enforced.  Turn Mode gets a bit more attention, and I believe there was also an advantage for  removing that.

@Duke Bushido, another way to look at it is that if a Flyer is going 200 mph and grabs something, he doesn’t get hurt. And I swear in one of the later editions there is a comment where you are protected for free effects of your power, such as I shoot lasers from my eyes, my eyes don’t burn. Or I run super fast and friction doesn’t burn me either. So I would see this as an extension of Flight UBO. Unless you take a limitation that is. 😉

As far as I know, the grabber is just grabbed. If you wanted the the thing to take damage then that’s a separate attack. Let’s look at Disarm. I can disarm you by smacking your hand so hand that you lose the weapon yet mechanically I don’t do either Stun or Body damage to you. I wonder if the GM will allow your velocity to be converted to Grab Strength.

@Hugh Neilsonand @Grailknight, you both seem to have overlooked Armadillo. Which is probably more abusive since All if his stats per-6th were Normal and everything else bought  through OIF.  Defender as in Armadillo and Blue Jay for that matter are Normals in Super Armor to compete with Supers. In fact, I would comfortably say most, 85%, of Champions Characters of this concept are built like this and none of their out of suit stats would violate NCM. Iow, I don’t see Defender being built to take advantage of NCM but rather taking because it suits the character’s concept and build.

In 2016, I was lead writer for Aaron Allston’s Strike Force. It is one of the highlights of my game writer career. I had hoped to be able to continue work in Aaron's world by developing something I wanted to call "Strike Force Organizations." And now, I can.

Note: This product will be dedicated to Aaron (of course), but also Darren Watts, as when I first discussed this, he wanted to develop the section on the Circle.

Oh I can certainly see build car form as sfx of Powers. What I really can’t see is why the rules just won’t allow you to change into a vehicle.

I swear this has come up before.  And the consensus (such as it were) was just over rule the rule and allow vehicles into the multi-form.

Putting them in stasis is the special effect of the LS.  You don’t need to purchases anything to do this.  Just like when you build a bow and arrow you don’t need anything more than the RKA.  The concentration limitation represents the fact they are unconscious the entire time.   It really does not matter if you use concentration or a custom limitation.  The custom limitation should be worth the same amount as it is essentially the same thing.

You don’t need the UOO advantage.  The focus would be considered a universal focus so anyone could use it.

I am in the life support camp.  However, I would not use concentration etc, I would simply have the limitation "Character in catatonic state while power in use".  You can cost that however you want but, as already pointed out, this is not something expensive for a base unless you begin adding in significant numbers of chambers for LOTS of people.

I'd just keep it simple.  Character does not eat, self contained breathing, character does not age.  I don't think you need anything else, functionally.  Then:  no conscious control..the *character* can't turn it OFF.

If it's defined as part of a ship?  No Conscious doesn't apply, but you're spending base points.

Either way, there's Immobile Focus aspects if you want them, too, but that LS isn't exactly expensive, particularly as part of a vehicle build.

There's no need for any Transform that I can see.  That's just SFX explanation stuff.

No argument from me. The real-world examples are legion, and I'm sorry that your life experience is part of one of them. Personally I never enjoyed the "murder hobo" style of gaming. I prefer the heroes of a story to be actual heroes, to stand for something. The kind of game I described above would hold no appeal for me. But I'm not all players, and it's not my place to dictate the sort of game they'd enjoy. As Christopher above me notes, this is fantasy, created for our entertainment, and the rules are what we want them to be.

I do have to say that I find the recent Dungeons and Dragons movie an interesting example of how even D&D has evolved beyond simplistic self-interested adventuring. The main protagonists are thieves, but they have standards and care about each other, and when innocents are threatened they put themselves in danger to help them. The main villains, the Thayans, are literal undead monsters, but were transformed and enslaved by a malevolent will. Yet the purest, most moral character in the movie is also a Thayan.

I suppose what I'm getting at is, every game group should try to find the tone and balance that will make their game most satisfying for them.

On the other hand, in a fantasy setting it is perfectly normal to have sub human monsters that are innately evil and always safe to attack and destroy.  Many (most?) players do not want to sit down with the dice and face moral dilemmas and question themselves constantly: was it okay to wipe out that goblin village?

I think war settings are an interesting if largely forgotten genre.  So many stories that can be told of a small squad of PCs.  You usually have one higher ranking guy -- usually a non-com, but that can just be an experienced, respected player's character.  All higher ranks should be NPCs.

That introductory adventure I ran was Battlegrounds. It got a very long delay (over 2 years) and we didn't get to the final part until 2021. We finished the Battlegrounds adventure around April of 2021.

I also never knew that DOJ was Darren's campaign name until I just researched it. Today.

I just never paid attention to much about the publishing and ownership history of Hero Games and Champions until the past year to the
    past few months.

I certainly had no idea the name I picked for our team back in '91 was the same as Mr. Watts campaign.

I was thinking that a good twist can be that the artifact in question is a Eed Herring of sorts. Yes the Nazis would like it but they really wanted to kidnap the good professor who discovered it. Naturally the Professor knows where Atlantis is! Or at least a colony.

I would look at just dropping the required magic skill roll and add charges.  I think perhaps a small limitation also stating either you need the required rest or prayers also (-1/4 max).
