  1. Re: New Avengers Replied to in that thread (a couple of times, cuz I'm like that)
  2. Re: How do I update 4E to 5ER Or yeah, what he said. *sigh* Nevermind. Just move along...
  3. Re: How do I update 4E to 5ER You mean, what changed from 4th to 5th edition? There's no one little sheet that gives that information, unfortunately. Many of the actual mechanics and costs are pretty much the same but the revision and upgrade essentially cleaned up the rules all across the board. You'd have to purchase 5th Edition Revised to get everything. The book is currently unavailable (i.e. sold out), but the PDF is available in the "E-Books" section of the online store. Sorry there's no easy answer.
  4. Re: DNPC: A building I dunno, I kinda like the idea. It implies that at any given level the museum might be in trouble. However, there should be a tie to the museum beyond that of being a tribute. For example, in game terms the character might have Reputation. If for whatever reason he didn't respond to the needs of the museum in time it could hurt his reputation. The 'D' portion of the disad could be anything from an employee in trouble, an attack by an irate nemesis, a demonstration by anti-meta protestors, a new exhibit, authenticating artifacts, etc. It could also be a great lead-in to future uses. Useful DNPCs could be developed from the staff ("Hey, could you research this for me while I track down so-and-so?"), or even a hideout/base. I'd have to say yeah, it's appropriate. I'd probably make it "Normal, 8-, Useful NonCombat position (-5pts), Unaware of Secret ID (+5 pts)" for a total of 20 pts. I thought about making it "group", but in essence it really is just 1 DNPC with multiple facets.
  5. Re: Supers With Pictures: Fun For All Rep for the revival and the characters, Michael....um....when I can, that is. I ran out today.

  7. Re: Sick of Wolverine Probably more since the movies and subsequent games.
  8. Re: Works Well in the Source Material, not so Well in the Game One of the things I've noticed is that Batman is as good as he has to be. In the JLA-level situations, this means coming up with a way to plan an attack, distract the foe at a crucial time, and/or thinking up a particularly sneaky way to hurt them. In rare cases he has to step up and dish it out, but as a 'normal' man he's probably the single best instinctive fighter in the DC continuum and is thus able to adapt to virtually any tactical situation. By the same token, his duels with Batman-continuum foes is generally more cerebral and skill-oriented; his foes are usually portrayed in a more intelligent and/or cunning manner than JLA foes. With the JLA it usually devolves into might-vs-might, give or take a character spotlight. With Batman stuff it's usually a hunted-vs-hunter thing. At least that's what I tell myself so that I don't belabor the obvious slips in character continuity. I'm usually pretty good at finding the key for suspension of disbelief.
  9. Re: Western Shores 5e Campaign No disparagement meant but I don't think I could work that way. I'd get annoyed too often, I think. Yer a braver man than I, Din.
  10. Re: Magic of the Realm: Regency Spells Even if I had my books and/or Hero Designer with me I'm too tired and lazy to come up with actual power write-ups. I'll throw out some ideas, though. Weather Control - Change Environment (however many inches megascale needed to cover the realm) to affect weather patterns. Give it enough limitations/side effects to make it a "only once in a great while" kinda spell, like during droughts or particularly nasty storms. Detect intruders - a telepathy-linked-mind scan spell that detects intruders with hostile intent toward the country. It's a reach, I know, but it'd be kinda cool. Some sort of spell that allows the Archmage to look through the eyes of any of his subjects so long as they're actually in his land. Heck, you might even make a spell that lets him temporarily inhabit any one person in his kingdom. Don't forget a megascale teleport anywhere in his kingdom.
  11. Re: Western Shores 5e Campaign Question for you, Curufea: since you're moving your game to RPG.net's wiki, does this mean you have to open it up to editing by anyone? Isn't there potential for abuse that way? I'm asking because you had/have so much info I can't see that you'd want anyone else to have the ability to change it.
  12. Re: JEFFVERSE - Jeff T's name quest 1. Shadowmancer 2. Department of Extranormal Activities Response (DEAR) (kinda silly, I know, but I liked it) I always wanted something random like "Department H" of Alpha Flight in my stories so I once wrote the "B Network" into a story as a shadowy government agency who worked both for and (on very rare occasions) against superheroes based on criteria that I never fully developed or explained. Nor did I reveal the reason behind the name...mainly cuz I didn't know it. In short, "B Network" was about the only thing I knew about them. I just liked the name. 3. The Hierarchy, Legion, The Circle (or Dark Circle), The Elite, Primal Force
  13. Re: Sick of Wolverine I was rather hoping Wolverine would go back to his noble almost-samurai attitude and grow into a leadership role. Probably ain't gonna happen, but I can dream.
  14. Re: New Avengers I like the book. I like the line-up (even Wolverine). I like the stories (mostly). Unfortunately, in the grand scheme of things I'm getting tired of Marvel and their "epic events". So, while I might enjoy the book as a specific title, I'm jaded on most things Marvel these days ('Ultimate' books not included, cuz I love those).
  15. Re: How to: Ego Roll Wall First of all, I think y'all are trying to come up with a mental-based physical wall, which isn't what Sociotard described. Give the wall an Ego score, make it an EGO-vs-EGO contest.
  16. Re: partial effect? More or less how you surmised. I allow for degrees of success. It never occured to me that this might not be how you were supposed to do it.

  20. Re: How to Overthrow the Alien Overlords: Reboot I only skimmed the original thread, and y'all are losin' me in this one, but I thought I'd throw some ideas out based on what I did read. What if the aliens aren't the vanguard of some interstellar empire? What if they're the losers of a bid for an interstellar empire? Powerful, yes, but they have all their resources with them. It's "make it or break it" time for them. They have no home to go to and decided Earth was the first place they found that they could actually conquer. What if they killed 4 billion humans, but then killed all the adults (or everyone over the age of puberty) that were left, raising the children on their ships and lunar colonies to be slaves and such. They also attempt to "cull" the metagene from humans by killing any child with any hint of powers. A generation or three go by, and the long-lived aliens have cleaned up Earth enough to recolonize it. Now there are humans on Earth again, and they're the slaves of their alien overlords, who are slowly recovering and recouping their losses and hope to make a bid for another interstellar empire ("soon" being relative, if the aliens actually live a long, long time). These aliens had to cannabalize many of their star-faring ships in order to provide shelter and sustenance on the planet, so other than atmospheric craft and a few actual starships, their fleet has been dismantled (or destroyed by the initial invasion). A few things that might be of note: 1) There might still be pockets of human resistance on Earth that have yet to be ferreted out. Those that hid during the bombardment and subsequent "cleansing" have had children and organized small communities in the wilds. They do little more than survive, but perhaps they have resources that the PCs can use. 2) The PCs are young adults who are just coming into their power. Yes, power. Seems the culling didn't work so well and there are still those with superpowers, though they've hid them well. 3) The PCs could be the forefront of a new human rebellion a la "Battlefield:Earth" or something. As more humans are put down on Earth to work the land and till the soil (or whatever), more caches of forgotten "lore" are recovered. The humans are learning about their past and the spark of freedom lights their hopes. 4) Along with the alien invaders are several other servitor and/or servile races, beings from other conquered planets and/or allies. Maybe they're happy with their alien overlords, maybe they aren't. Maybe these other races provide the bulk of the invaders and it's only when there's a big problem that the actual overlords appear. Okay, I petered out. Any of this of any use at all, or am I just spouting random crap in the wrong thread again?
  21. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Got a place in town called "The Squeeze Inn". It's a burger joint about the size of my bedroom (and not the master bedroom). Seriously, about 8 people fit at the bar, two can stand by the register, everyone else is already out the door. They set up picnic tables in back but I doubt they could seat more than 30 people at a time without everyone knowing each other real well. Best friggin' cheeseburger I've had in a long long time. So much cheese half of it is grilled so that the diameter of the burger is about twice that of the bun-and-burger itself. That is a tasty burger...mm mm mm.
