  1. I know. the blah blah blah was meant to indicate that I was just blabbering... The human experiences this problem because his heart can't pump the 10 times as heavy blood to his head. Hero Games merely extrapolates your heart's STR as the inverse square of STR/5. blah blah blah.
  2. STR needs to be double for each added G because of the inverse square law. Your weight compared to your footprint increases at a rate that is not linear, and thus blah blah blah... I don't know. a Human that experiences 10 G passes out in less than a minute, so I don't have a problem saying that Superheroes undergo added strain in high G Worlds...
  3. In order to explain away the differences between 4th and 5th, retcon out ten years of odd, dangling, and confusing plotlines, and rewrite everyone's character after many years away from the game, I introduced the Millenium Bug. An incarnation of the Demon they fought in episode 3 or 4, MB was summoned at the dawn of the Millenium, and lived backwards through time for 1000 years. Every hero in the previous millenium fought it, and the battles changed the last 1000 years in ways both subtle and extreme. The most signifigant change (to the players) is that the members of our team, Good Guys, Inc., don't meet until the current millenium. The name of the new game: GGI REBOOT
  4. Captain Arachnid: When Peter Batson got lost on a field trip to the Museum of Natural History, an old African shaman working as a janitor showed him an ancient spider totem hidden in storage. On it was engraved the word ANANSI The old wizard implored Peter to speak the world aloud. Peter complied and felt a strange spirit overtake him. Before his own eyes he transformed into an adult with the powers of Anansi, the Spider-trickster of African legend. Donning a Red and Blue costume, he swings through the urban jungle as Captain Arachnid...
  5. Add me to the list of people who would buy a Campaign Cartographer Map of the Terran Empire...downloaded, not hard-copy...
  6. How much would it cost to put out a four color pin-up book? I might be willing to buy a 64 page book with color versions of Champions, CU, and CKC artwork, divorced from the text...
  7. There is NO death penalty in MA This is from http://www.macathconf.org/death_penalty_hearing_at_state_h.htm Death Penalty Hearing at State House 2003 An odd thing happened on March 27 at the State House during a committee hearing on bills to reinstate the death penalty in Massachusetts. No one, not even the bills' sponsors, showed up to argue for the death penalty. What a drastic change from just a few years ago when such a hearing would be standing room only and charged with tension and drama, anticipating votes on the floor of the House and Senate too close to call. What happened? Maybe, as one speaker put it, "the death penalty is an idea whose time has gone". Perhaps, as evident when relatives of murder victims described to the committee their own journey from proponent to opponent, we as a society are discovering that killing the killer doesn't kill the pain. Bud Welch, whose daughter died in the Oklahoma City bombing, said his epiphany came when he realized that his daughter's death resulted from the very same emotions of revenge and hate on the part of the bombers that he harbored against them. Could it be the emerging awareness of the death penalty's steep financial costs? Compelling testimony from criminologists and economists from across the country revealed that states with the death penalty ultimately end up using more tax dollars than those states without it. It's not as simple as measuring the relative costs of keeping murderers for years in prison as opposed to shortening their lives by the death penalty. Rather, death penalty cases up the ante as prosecutors and defense lawyers spend more of the state's money to pursue every legal avenue. Far more often than not, the state's request for the death penalty is denied and the convicted ends up spending life in prison anyway. In the end, maybe the clamor for the death penalty has died because the legislative votes are not there anymore. Everyone knew before the hearing that the last two election cycles have brought in many more opponents than proponents, and some veteran legislators have recently changed their minds. The Joint Committee on Criminal Justice has not yet voted on H. 319, H. 3295, S. 193, or S. 194, although the committee is expected to recommend their defeat. Governor Mitt Romney plans to submit his own death penalty proposal later this term as part of a comprehensive package of crime-fighting proposals.
  8. EC's and Multipowers are more limiting in FRED. The drain issue has already been mentioned here. But with the "clarification" on Multiple Attacks, Multipower limits your raw firepower. In 4e, there was no reason not to put all your attacks in one Multipower with ultra slots. You could never use two at the same time. Now placing your attacks outside a multipower allows you to use them simultaneously.

In his newfound body, Buster fights for truth and justice with his new pals, GOOD GUYS, INC.
  10. Death Penalty Laws vary from state to state for non-federal crimes. In New England, Massachussetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Maine do not have the death penalty, while Connecticut and New Hampshire do. Things you might want to include in a Boston based game. The Big Dig: This is the largest building project in history, designed to eliminate the interstates that divide Boston up into little fractious neigborhoods. It is also the most overbudget, over deadline project in history. What is under the city of Boston that man was not meant to dig up? The Curse of the Bambino: The Boston Red Sox have not won a world Series since they traded Babe Ruth, the Bambino, to the New York Yankees. Is the longest losing streak in baseball a coincidence, or something far more sinister... Universities: I don't have statistics in front of me, but there must be more college students per square mile in Boston than any other city in the country. Off the top of my head, I am thinking UMASS, Boston University, Boston College, Harvard, MIT, plus a half dozen others, all connected by the T (Boston's rail line.) I will think of others...
  11. go to http://www.eplebnista.com you can thank me later...
  12. Don't kill him, humiliate him... Agree to meet with him "to finish this once and for all" in an abandoned warehouse of his choice. Arrive with Geraldo Rivera, a camera crew and an audience. Introduce him to America, tell him that you are considered a living being by the courts, and that SOB (Slightly Occult Batman) would be committing a capital crime by killing him. However, If you can't convince him that you don't deserve to die, you won't stand in his way. Provided, of course, that he do it on live television. If he leaves, conduct your smear campaign on live TV. tell America that it is now clear to you that SOB meant to kill you secretly, and that "Evil dies in the light of exposure". If he tries to kill you then and there, try to fight to a stalemate until the cops show up, and then fall down "dead" Let him be the hunted hero for a change. If he tries to debate you, let him have it. Make your moral case in front of America. I don't know the specifics of your case, but argue it on SOB's terms, not your own moral justification. At the end of the speech, as the cops are showing up, let him make his decision. If he decides to kill you, fall down "dead" at the first blow. Simulate death until you get to the morgue, and slip off into the night. What? You can't simulate death? then just shoot him in the head...
  13. Is this really a summon? I would consider buying them as followers with Shape Shift, Normal Sight and Invisibility, Normal Sight. What is the special effect of the disappearing? What happens to the spheres?
  14. In our old GGI (Good Guys, Incorporated), our heroes learned that as they moved towards a certain date, alternate earths were being "culled", until only 20 remained. They also learned that these alternate worlds only extended to the edge of the solar sytem, and that they all saw the same stars. The demons from the Great SuperVillain Contest lived in a blank dimension, and whoever entered it during the zero hour would choose which universe survived. GGI beat up Dr. Destroyer and was put in the position of choosing which Earth would "emerge" into the universe. They refused to choose, and thus our solar system is one of a 20 star cluster, each with nine planets, and each with a blue green third planet... This story line marked the end of our regular group. I am proposing a new game in this universe, in which a Lovecraftian Horror, the Millenium Bug is spawned in 2000 AD, and lives backwards in time, changing history all the while. Heroes and a few villains throughout the previous 1000 years battle it. They win, but the timeline is altered such that GGI does not exist before 2000 AD. In the current timeline, the Sorceror Supreme of our earth makes the choice. All other Alternate Earths have inverted, appearing unchanged within their own solar system, but moving backwards in time relative to the rest of the universe. I am calling them "Counterverses"...
  15. In my campaign there is a history of superhero nomenclature 1890's Wonders, coined by PT Barnum World War I, Miracle Men, coined by Ernest Hemingway, also refered to in the "Miracle Men Prohibition" in the Geneva Convention. 1920's-1930's Mystery Men WWII, Ubermen and Freedom Fighters. Neither the Axis or the Allies violated the Geneva Convention, which prevented them from using superheroes on the front lines. 1950's Science Heroes 1960's Mutants, Supers 1970's Freaks or Capes, Alpha-Americans, Big Brothers/Sisters 1980's Cuppies (Caped Urban Professionals), coined by People Magazine 1990's the number of Supers causes fragmented identifiers, these terms include Legacies (Third Generation Miracle Men), Bricks, Blasters, Speedsters, Icons, Doppels, etc. Any term is understood to meen superheroes (except Cuppies, that never really took hold.), but might date you...
  16. Justification #1: High Velocity Bullets are not affected by artificial gravity, and will bounce around a hull until stopped by a body or cushion. Anyone with space combat training knows not to fire a shot unless his aim is true. Most current rifles, which rely on sprayfire and such, are as likely to kill the shooter as his target. Duelling pistols have become fashionable again in boarding actions. Justification #2. Laser pistols require so much energy that they only can fire a few shots before recharging. Recharging is a time consuming process, so in ranged combat, people count shots, and charge into melee when the other side runs out... (edited for clarity)

  20. Re: How is it a disadvantage... If you live in a world of Superheroes, "Aura of Evil" is a "kick me" sign slapped on the villain's overmuscled back. This guy couldn't go to the supermarket without being attacked by "Produce Man and Bag Boy". He can't slink away in the crowd, because the crowd parts from him in fear. Tell me that this Disadvantage isn't making things hard for Saddam Hussein... Casual Killer as a psych Lim is best exploited by heroes through henchmen. Convince the henchmen that you can protect them from the villian's wrath, and he will spill the beans... This does more than keep you from getting the best tables at restaurants. This forces the Villians to use henchmen to carry out any clandestine portion of his plan. And as we all know, henchmen are saps I was going to start in about how the unjust person is never as happy as the just man, according to Eudaimonists, but realised I have been reading too much "Buffy TVS and Philosophy: Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale". Again, this weakness is exploitable by heroes through underlings. If you have ever read the evil overlord list, these limitations prevent the villian from implementing at least 45, 48, 72, 77, and 88 I am of the opinion that the Villians who are overpowered should contain the seeds of their own demise. All of the evil overlord weaknesses should be exploitable behind the scenes, if not always face to face. Some villians are designed to be impossible to beat in a fist fight, so a conscientious GM should center games around defeating their plans, rather than arm wrestling them.
  21. Suppress Advantages: any one power of a special effect (Spells) Limitations: Can only suppress 50% of Power Effect: Changes incoming Spell Effect from one that affects Vulnerabilities to one that does not. One must wonder if any Vulnerabilities this character has are worth full points...
  22. I would be willing to take this a step further, and say that Tech Level X weapons have Reduced Penetration against Tech Level X+1 Armor. And that none of the rules above apply to Superheroes. That way, if you are playing in a game with the Iowa, the Enterprise, and the Silver Surfer, The Iowa and the Enterprise are severely mismatched, but the Silver Surfer stacks up against either at the same level.
  23. Hartford, CT Evildoers NIMBY, a tiny invisible troll who stirs up people's fear and hatred of that which is different. Currently he lives in the Governor's Mansion. Hobomoko, the spirit of Lake Pocotopaug, He who Demands Blood Tribute. The Mascot Gang, a villain team wanted for performing daring robberies and infringing copyrights in souped-up mascot outfits. Members include the New Britain Rock Cat, the New London Navi-Gator, the Hartford Wolf Pack, and the New Haven Raven.

I have always used these examples as a classic example of how to properly use Mind Control. Had Obi-Wan said "Ignore these Droids", the stormtroopers would have indeed been resistant. but he didn't. He said "These aren't the droids you're looking for..." he told the stormtrooper exactly what he wanted to hear: he was doing his job, doing it well, and that he had decided that these weren't the droids. Luke did the same thing. He convinced the aide that not only did Jabba want to let him in, but that he would reward the aide for doing so. Both are examples of roleplaying to move a result from "generally opposed" to "not opposed" or even "likely to do"...
