Yes. If the goal of forcing a screen to be on displaying the message is to get the message read, then there's a design failure if it kills a battery in the process. 
 
Also keep in mind that phone batteries drain faster with age. You're supposed to swap them out after they take less than 80% of their original charge. People without the means to do so, who may even be getting by on hand me downs with weak batteries, would be negatively impacted. So, it's a system design that also impacts the poor.
 
Of course, it's probably their fault for being poor, right?
 
There are a lot of other situations -- including a large scale emergency -- that may result in a phone not being charged at all times.

We don't get this sort of thing. We just expect trouble and then deal with it.

The US government will be testing its Emergency Alert System (successor to the old Emergency Broadcast System) Wednesday, October 4, reportedly between 2:20 PM and 2:50 PM Eastern time, although that time frame may not be guaranteed or absolute. The full sound of the telephone may come through even if the 'phone is put on "mute," so the secondary 'phone should be completely shut off.

The 5e "Paladin" is a joke: it stands for nothing and it was only brought about because A) Players found that playing a proper (i.e., Lawful Good) Paladin was too difficult (when the class is about walking a higher path while focusing on Good over Law if and when a moral/ethical conflict arises instead of assuming the role of a Lawful Neutral or even Lawful Evil(!) jackass that is only nominally Lawful Good while they bully others around) and/or B ) Too many Dungeon Masters provided Morton's Fork-style challenges for Paladins that lead to them falling from grace.

In the states (if not other nations, as well), people have an aversion towards red text - in part - because of past trauma associated with overly-critical teachers .

People are done a disservice when told there are no pebbles, no thorns and no chill winds. I frequent an online dictionary that - once upon a time - would generate all definitions of any entered word; now, certain terms are hidden under the labels "DEROGATORY", "OFFENSIVE" and "VULGAR" (necessitating an additional click). Even "dog", in the context of an insult (i.e., a contemptible man), is tucked away because it might cause offense. Silly.

In everyday life, I agree - everyone is too easily offended and unnecessarily coddled nowadays it seems.
 
On a moderated message board however, we're essentially playing in someone else's sandbox...so probably better safe than sorry.

Lately I’ve been poking around about first level characters and their fragility . And there seems to be a white washing of it. 1 level isn’t so deadly , it’s really the players fault. The player shouldn’t have engaged in combat for example. However if you suggest ways to mitigate it then you’re not playing the game right. (Not everyone feels this way of course.)
