  1. I just wish they'd've done it as a serious show, with Justice League quality artwork. I'm not a big fan of the Japanese animation, and WB already had its own 'goofy superhero' style (see: Freakazoid) that they should have used for a show aimed at a younger audience, instead of trying to market to the anime fans by using all the cliches (big-head-screaming-takes and the like). I don't think I've ever seen anime like that, it's an American style, particularly the bodies which are just plain messed up. Here's some current anime to compare: Titans, Tians, Happy Lesson Advance, Narutaru, Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex, Get Backers, Scrapped Princess, Naruto.
  2. Transforms, mental powers and flashs all tend to be nasty because they're often against low defences and transforms can be permanent, mental powers are often totally debilitating or worse and flashs can be spread and seriously impair large chunks of a team in one hit.
  3. I don't think that Mechanon would bother with such complex safeguards to his demolition charges until someone else triggers one and interferes with the achievement of one of his objectives. Uh, having a secure connection is anything but complex. Even if you fail to consider that off the shelf standard encryption today which is stone age tech for Mechanon would make that scheme laughable, the fact is that without that sort of protection, if Mechanon was broadcasting a destruct signal, he wouldn't use the exact same destruct code for each of his bodies... think about it for a second, it's an accident waiting to happen on any spare or partly built bodies. That plan is litereally impossible, it's right up there with using skirt guns on Mechanon to make him rust to death. In order for it to work it would require a super powered hacking, super powered luck or some similar super attack to succeed.
  4. D) I want Kid-Flash, Wonder Girl, and Superboy!! That would just be a super-deformed version of Justice League. This is a good site about the series. The series is okay, but really so far most of the episodes have just been villians suddenly appearing and a big fights with not much else. Oh, and Robin has big clown feet, it's really quite disturbing.
  5. Speed's value is fairly variable to begin with so the point reduction should vary a lot between different characters. The higher the points of your campaign the cheaper speed is relativly (e.g. +1 SPD on a 500pt character probably gives a lot more effect for the points than a +1 SPD on a 100pt character.) Take a +1 SPD only to recover for instance. If the character has 10 or more rec then that bonus speed, even with that big limitation, starts to look like a bargain at full price, but a character with a 5 rec it's fairly expensive and should probably have a big modifier. If your character would almost always be doing mental actions with actions ANYWAY it's not really a limitation so shouldn't be worth anything. You should instead be getting points back somewhere else because of the character's inability to do non-mental things.

    Help on a gadget:

How many points for it to be a hot sauce dispenser? (am I the ONLY one to have seen Undercover Brother?)
  7. Hovering robotic cameras (say 3) that follow the character and record him for later playback? I originally though Images, but the Clairisentience power retrocognition-only looked doable, but then I saw Eiditic Memory which is Clairisentience with a TON of shortcuts on it to make it cheaper (it looks like it's 20 pts with -3 in modifieries, with all those senses it should be at least 60 pts with -3 modifiers if bought normally.)
  8. . Second, that the one segment = one second notion is not especially realistic. I'm sure there are many well-trained combatants who can perform more than 12 actions in 12 seconds. Still, I really don't see what the problem is. I would go in the opposite direction. I think generally people get way too many actions. Thinking that each punch is an action is just too fine grained, an entire set of blows being a more realistic thought of what an attack is. You can't model a fire fight in Hero realistically because of it. A Hero firefight will never last more than 30 seconds, and I can't think of any of our super powered fights that have lasted even a minute despite our team having favouring bricks. A typical movie fight usually lasts several minutes, and real fire fights even longer. but in Hero it's like hitting the fast forward button. Because of the very short fights it has pretty much mandated that the team either a) stick together or buy megascale movement or c) bring a book to sessions because if you're not at a fight you got some time to waste as the next 36 seconds of intense bloodshed could take hours to play out.

    The Dirty Pair

No uncontrolled "terraforming" power whenever they leave a planet?
  10. For the same reason you can't just tell the satilites in orbit to use their thrusters to change position, or give you their data or unleash their nuclear payload there is no way you could do that to Mechanon. You would need a superpower hacking skill to even have a chance, otherwise it's like thinking Wolverine can do brain surgery because he has sharp claws.
  11. OMG this is some good stuff, ROTFLOL! After seeing Beast Boy running around as a green T-Rex I can't help but think how much fun some brain transference could be with PC dinos... and maybe some dino PCs?!
  12. For example, how much better are the reflexes of a super with a 23 DEX than a normal human's with an 8 DEX? 23 dex is a 14 roll, 8 dex is 11. For doing things of "normal" difficulty 8 dex is 62.5%, 23 dex is 90.7%. So for "normal" tasks 23 dex is about 150% as good as 8 dex... Obviously with the way 3d6 work, the harder the task the better the 23 dex will be compared to the 8 dex. Beating the result by 5 for instance is about 3 times more likely with 23 dex as it is for 8 dex.
  13. Hmmm, do the "Battering Ram" dice add to the amount of damage he'll take from move throughs? If so he'd be looking at taking about 10 stun on an average movethrough... if the target moves. Otherwise 15 dice vs his 15PD... not going to be pretty, nuh-uh, straight to unconcious, do not pass go, and probably take some body while you're down there. Wonder if there are rules for that sort of thing? You'd think getting hit by a high-speed grape which gets obliterated on impact would do less damage than a high-speed pebble.
  14. Doesn't WW have missle reflection?
  15. I like the puppy, but I prefer the breasts. Starlord's breasts are fine but I'll take... <-----
  16. Mmm, this happened to a couple of friends, amazingly, they stayed friends... The two spent weeks putting together a huge point battle Star Fleet Battles game, with multiple races, customized ships, the works. It was going to take hours to do each turn. They finally got things together, setup, energy allocations done, drones launch, plasmas charging and during the first turn the one guy uses his legendary captain ability to bluff... ending the battle... They stayed friends, but I don't think they ever played SFB again.
  17. "Only" 24 COM? This IS Wonder Woman we're talking about, after all. Va-Voom! Well, she's a pretty flat character, one might even say she is two-dimensional. Badum bum. Ohhh, I kill myself. Seriously though, she has never "done it" for me. Maybe it's the star-spangled diaper, or the coiled domination gear hanging from her belt, or how the tiara just doesn't go, like at all, oh my gawd, with her other accessories. And those boots! Hawkgirl is definetly the looker in the JLA, and after beating up the green lanterns in a bar fight!!! The wings say soft and angelic, the mace says grrrrrr baby! Rrrrrrar!
  18. I briefly played DnD with some people like that. They made it a point to know all the monsters and min-max their characters. The GM couldn't use the monster manuals because the other players would use the knowledge even though they knew not to. They expected the GM to change things. *sigh* Another thing they'd do is use information they didn't have about the situation they were in. If half the party was fighting for instance the other half who were off somewhere else would suddenly for no reason rush to their aid despite the characters having no way of knowing WTF is going on. They'd also stop in the middle of action and talk about strategy for half an hour all the time, so they could perfectly co-ordinate. It could take 3+ hours to kill a couple of zombies it was so silly, and the GM did nothing.
  19. As to the episode itself -- I had it set to tape, but the power went off. Even when the power came back the cable didn't. Argh! Kazaa is good. Downloaded and watched all the Legacy and Apokolipse Now episodes today and getting Twilight now. Since Superman Batman Adventures isn't shown here at all and the station that shows JLA is a good two or three months off from showing Twilight if ever, I'm really glad I can just download them. And no commercials of course. While I agree with you that, were the stakes high enough, Supes would kill Darkseid, I gotta disagree with you regarding the lack of remorse. He'd tear himself up inside. Eah? I got the distinct impression Darkseid regularly invades, slaughters and enslaves planets all the time, he is an ever present uncontrolled killing machine. Letting him live to destroy other planets is like letting Godzilla eat Tokyo because Japan isn't the U.S.A... Since he can't be jailed like Superman's typcial enemies, he needs to be destroyed... like they destroyed Stagg or the white martians... or the soldiers in Savage Time. He didn't tear himself up inside then. The writers just can't be bothered to come up with a decent enough story that keeps Darkseid free but they want to keep him around so for no apparent reason Superman leaves him alive and free to continue to pursue his goal of enslaving and killing everyone.
  20. Not really, As imagined it will be used for various stages of Megascale (1=10m, 1=100m, 1=1km), usable underwater, and 1/2 end, this will give the boy a top speed of (math check 10km * speed 5 *5 turns a minute * 60 minutes an hour =15000Km an hour) or roughly mach 12.5...seems fast enough for me... Oops, misread that yeah, he can get 1km megascale.
  21. To me, it seemed weird to have the world all ga-ga after Superman following Legacy, but hey, there's only so much continuity allowed in episodic animated tv, I guess. There were some grateingly bad problems with the episode. The hairpin turn in Superman's popularity was one of them. The doctor refusing to save Supergirl's life was another, even if she had been guilty of anything which in fact was the reverse, she had fought against the invasion, it was dumb he'd let her die. Superman leaving Darkseid alive puts him firmly in the short bus, WTF was he even doing invading Apokolipse in the first place if all he does is listen to Darkseid threaten to slaughter more humans then leave? *boggle* I feel like Earth is a Quicky Mart and Superman is Apu saying "glad we could satisfy your invading and slaughtering needs. Thank you, come again!"
  22. It's also this episode that has Superman burned out and demoralized in season one, accounting for his somewhat lackluster performance. Thanks to Darkseid, many of the people of Earth, including former friend Emil Hamilton, no longer trust the Man of Steel, and it's been shown to Superman in no uncertain terms that the military is ready to consider him public enemy number one at a moment's notice (at least some elements). That doesn't jibe at all with "Origins" where the world gratefully puts itself into a rather energetic Superman's sole hands. Superman did NOT come into the series "burned out" and the world governments trusted him completely. The only thing that has changed is Superman no longer believes he is capable of protecting the world by himself (which was demonstrated in Origins) which is why he invited the others to stay and join the JLA. “I believe that if we stay together as a team, we would be a force that could truly work for the ideals of peace and justice.†“What like a bunch of super friends?†“More like a Justice League.†“Do you have any idea how corny that sounds?â€
  23. MM has also done the shape change into the bad guy routine a few times, I would (assuming Supes at Str 75) put MM at 30, with a Desolid/Density Increase/Shape Change MP sitting at 50 points (40 point powers w/ Red end 1/2) He also shapeshifts into a fire breathing dragon in the intro and in at least one episode (metamorphosis 2?) MM seems to be able to do just about anything... but he doesn't. He definetly seems to be "restrained" for some reason because pound for pound he seems to be able to one-up superman on just about everything. He also seems to have research skills like Batman as he was working on a cure in "Fury." Aside from being the obvious brain on the team, he's also more or less the defacto leader. Though Bats is rarely calling the shots openly, his Intel and Analysis drives the direction the team takes constantly. Notice how they all look to Bats as soon as anything complicated happens. I don't think Batman ever even joined them. He told Superman to call him if they need help but he wasn't going to actually be on the team. He IS often MIA too, either back at the base researching a cure (metamorphosis), sick (fury), doing his own thing (injustice for all) or just not present in the episode. There was a line where I think Superman said he couldn't even contact Batman and it sounded like that wasn't unusual. I do get a kick out of some of the things Batman does, like bribing Humanite, that no one else on the team could or would do. The Lasso: What's up with the Lasso? Seems to have lost its umph. Has anyone seen the truth power yet? Or the "you can't remove it" power? Pretty sure she has stated it's unbreakable. There has also been at least one case of the lasso being irretrievably lost but she uses it again in the next scene, so she can't lose it. Seems like it's just being used for it's range, entangle and as a non-killing way of dealing with normals. 24 1) Flight 10", Variable Advantage (+1/4 Advantages +1/2) (30 Active Points) That seems... slow. I get the impression all the flyers can at least keep up with jets.
  24. This is so wrong! Where's the link!!! Show me show me show me show me!
  25. GM: "Dr. Destroyer's armor was somewhat unyeilding but you manage to scuff the paint work. He'll have to buff that out but it may be a while before he notices since it's on the back and his minions aren't eager to point it out to him."
