  1. Re: My revenge Also: *WARNING* Minors should avoid the banner ads at the bottom of the page. ...we don't want people getting pissed off.
  2. Re: Re: Evil things to do to your players: Or stats for the dreaded...Redneck Tree, although Randy already did a strip with D&D stats for them. HKA 2d6, Continuous, NND, Does Body. Defense is pliable body or un-removable metal underpants?
  3. Didn't he swim about as well as a brick? I remember a whole issue of "high density...trapped on an island...why would he willingly go out on a surfboard?" in the movie
  4. Re: Don't forget Disney villains! David Xanatos and his assistant Owen Burnett. And Owen would kick Mercy's mini-skirted butt around the block, considering his "secret identity". I always thought that would be an interesting campaign element. An evil mastermind and his henchman, but the henchman is much more powerful than the mastermind. He just works for him because he likes him and the job is fun and exciting.
  5. Re: Nietzchian I remember an episode that I was referencing in my post. The Maru crashed in an ocean and life support was lost. The ship filled with water before it could reach the surface, and while Harper drowned and had to be medically revived, Tyr was able to hold his breath until they reached safety.
  6. Which occasionally suffers from internal inconsistencies. Book 1: Mudge mentions that horses, cows, etc. are practically second-class citizens because they are extremely stupid-most likely due to their lack of hands. Book 3: Jon-Tom encounters a carriage company owned and operated by the horses who pull the coach and they constantly complain about the idiot employees that they are forced to rely on due the their lack of hands. Book 5: The main characters are joined by a hinny who shows absolutely no lack of intelligence. Book 3: Sorbl the owl mentions that if he so much as took a bite out of a mouse, its relatives would string him up. Book 4: Sorbl is mentioned to be eating a fried mouse sandwich. And why are mammals, birds, amphibians, and insects all sentient and anthropomorphic, but reptiles aren't? Unless they appeared in Son of Spellsinger or Chorus Skating. I never read those. And I never really liked Jon-Tom's constant attitude. "I'm from Earth, a civilized world, and you're all barbarians. So I know what's best for you, whether you want it or not." Sort of Earth Man's Burden.
  7. Also Life Support: Extended Breathing and Immunity to Disease. They have internal nanites that protect from pathogens and in one episode it's mentioned that Tyr can hold his breath for 10 minutes or so under optimum conditions.
  8. Re: disney heroes? In my campaign: Darkwing, a martial artist detective based in New Orleans. He seems to be romantically linked with an unidentified female superhuman with strange energy powers. Gizmo, a battle armor hero created and working for a billionaire in Jackson, Mississippi. Jonathan Gabriel, brilliant billionaire industrialist whose corporate headquarters and personal residence occupy the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago. The Pride, a group of feline themed martial artists who star in a popular children TV show. (I also have a genetically altered lab mouse in a mechanical human suit, but that's a different company).
  9. Posted by Xanatos in the Rules Questions forum: An Inherent Power can't be Drained, Dispelled, or Suppressed. Life Support-Suppress by clogging gills. Armor, Damage Resistance-Drain by softening scales or hide. Claws-Drain by blunting or softening. Winged Flight-Suppress with gravity control or Dispel with paralysis (only works for 1 Phase after all). Extra Limbs-Major surgery. After all, you can't Suppress a normal arm. What's its point cost?
  10. Re: Stupid question and a personal opinion. Page 204, bottom left. "You cannot buy Powers which inherently cost no END as a slot in an EC unless they take the Limitation Costs END or the GM permits it." I would only allow it if the Armor was basically the special effect for an always on force field or something similar. This would provide justfication for the fact that an Adjustment Power used against the EC would affect the EB and Armor at the same time.
  11. They made a joke about that in the last Heroes for Hire series. They were fighting the U-Foes and Ironclad was mocking Cage for his exclamations. "...you even swear like a wuss." "My Grandma didn't like me to curse..." Cage flattens Ironclad with one punch "...and she's a lot meaner than you."
  12. Is the Analyze on Detect Air Purity in the supplemental material to USPDB a GM leniency call? The FAQ says that Smell/Taste is sort of Discriminatory, but it has to be paid for for full effects.
  13. Similar to Lightray's comments, I had always been under the impression that these two were folded into the myths by Christian missionaries who then claimed that they were actually Adam and Eve. Then they could say "See? Ragnarok already happened and your gods are already dead. You might as well worship ours."
  14. He was in one of the "Wendy & Marvin Era" episodes. The one where the scientist was going to shrink every person on Earth to a few inches tall in order to increase the available natural resources. Wendy and Marvin called him for help after the Superfriends had all been shrunken. Unfortunately, they overlooked the fact that the villain was using radio as the carrier wave to transmit his shrinking effect. He answered the distress call and ZAP.
  15. Re: Matrix Hero Or in a different vein, a combination of The Matrix and an episode of Red Dwarf that I can't remember the title of (usable for Champions). The heroes are defeated by a vilain and apparently killed. They then wake up in advanced VR pods and discover that the entire campaign has actually been an advanced computer game and they have now lost. Unfortunately, due to a glitch in the neural interface, the PCs can't remember their real lives. They begin to investigate their world and discover that each is a person that their character would absolutely loath. And of course they eventually discover that the "real world" is actually a computer simulation that the villain placed them in when he defeated them and they have to find a way to escape.
  16. Re: Mind Control: Spreading There was an old issue of Adventurer's Club that had an option for mental powers to buy "Mental Area Effect" as a +1 Advantage. The power can then affect all targets within line of sight, but with OCV penalties based on the number of targets using the Mind Scan chart.
  17. The following cartoon was in "Murphy's Rules".
  18. Immediately before the previously quoted line. "A character can create a Darkness field upon himself; the Darkness will then move with the character. To create a Darkness field that moves with another character...[Previous UAA reference]."
  19. Re: Hand Grenades I shouldn't post at night when I haven't had any sleep. the obvious answer occurred to me this morning. A hand grenade is a Universal Focus, so anyone can use it. Even if they are using it telekinetically without actually taking it away from the owner. Nest time I'll try to think before i post.
  20. In everyone's opinion, would a standard hand grenade be Trigger (Pull Pin) or would that just be a Special Effect? I'm thinking in terms of the scene in X-Men 2 where... (Spoilers) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5 4 3 2 1 ...Magneto kills a group of soldiers by magnetically pulling the pins on all of the grenades that they're carrying.
  21. Well, he's been playing Burt Gummer for 13 years now. It's only natural that he would give a better performance than actors who are still developing their characters. He's even playing his character's ancestor in the 1800's prequel movie Tremors 4.
  22. I have the first two books. I haven't read them yet, but they seem to be direct adaptions of the comic book series. The third book is no doubt waiting for J. Michael Straczynski to finish the comic storyline.
  23. Except that acceleration is increase in velocity per second. If your acceleration is 5" (1 G) then the 1st second you have a velocity of 5" and move 5". The 2nd second you have a velocity of 10" and move 10" (total 15"). The 3rd second you have a velocity of 15" and move 15" (30" total). And so on. Assuming an initial velocity of 0, displacement due to acceleration is 1/2 acceleration x time squared. With an acceleration of 5 and a time of 12 you get: 0.5 x 5 x 12 x 12 = 360 So 1 G of constant acceleration actually results in 360" of movement in 1 Turn. And 1440" in two Turns. And 3240" in three Turns. And so on, with a formula of 360" x # of Turns squared.
  24. Re: Persistant Missile Deflection/Reflection? There were several 4th edition characters with this effect. Metalla from Classic Organization is the one who always springs to mind when this topic comes up. Missile Deflection is a Constant Power, so adding the Uncontrolled Advantage will allow it to function without conscious effort. But as per the description of the Advantage, there needs to be a relatively common way to deactivate it. Someone else on this (or the old) board mentioned requiring a single Deflection roll during a Phase and that roll was used for all attacks that Phase if there is more than one, rather than a seperate Deflection roll for each attack. e.g. A character is attacked and rolls a 15 for their Missile Deflection. They are attacked twice more during the Phase and their rolls are automatically 13 and 11.
  25. I haven't actually tried it yet, so I'm not sure how much cumulative bandwidth it would use, but I was considering combining OpenRPG with Roger Wilco. Then you don't have to worry about "Wait. Wait. I have a long message to type." You can directly talk to each other with RW and use OpenRPG for dice and maps.
