  1. (I've only read the first post, so if it has diverged from that. I wouldn't know) When Spelljammer came out, the classes weren't logical anymore for that setting. Sooo, I dug into the DMG and created my own classes that would feel right. The Jammnav class. d6 HD, spell power up to level 5 spells, an assortment of spells from both Cleric and Mage lists, the ability to shrug off the debilitating effects of a spelljamming helm. He filled a niche that was needed. I miss that ability from 2nd ed that should have been in D20. The ability to create your own character classes. I can't bring that character over to D20. Maybe BESM D20 will have that ability restored. At any rate, run an AD&D 2nd ed game and create a bunch of odd character classes to show them that things don't have to be the way the books say. After a few of those games, show them Hero and point out that what you had done with those odd classes, can be done in even greater degree with Hero
  2. Dark Crystal Legend Labryinth Flight of Dragons Dragonslayer Dragonheart Clash of the Titans Jason and the Argonauts The various Sinbad movies. The 2 Hercules movies starring Lou Ferigno
  3. Has anyone tried to do up some of the odder monsters found in other RPG's or general monster books? I think theese came from Arduin or All The World's Monsters. Vorpal Bunnies Blast Puppies Kill Kittens Air Shark from Tunnels and Trolls
  4. Witchblade perhaps. Did/does have a TV series and its origins are relatively new compared to say Son Goku of DBZ fame. Lina Inverse of Slayers Torg from Sluggy Freelance. Just living with Bub-Bun the mini-lop propells him into being super.
  5. Hmmm. 70's Teen Titans. Infinity Inc. Champions. Defenders. Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes. Seems to focus in on kid/sidekick teams and strange member teams.
  6. The immortal words of Sledge Hammer: Trust me. I know what I'm doing. An effectice pressence attack with an illusion of flaming gates opening: Surrender or I'll kick you through the gates of Hell From Green Lantern: Quit your complaing. Lotsa people who would pay good money to be beaten to a pulp by eight amazom women. Chee. Your head is just like a rubber ball. It bounces up an' down. From JLA: boxing glove arrow? Justice League cartoon: Not while I'm standing.
  7. Frontiersgirl for your sharpshooter character. When I think of sharpshooter patriots, I think of frontiersmen like Davey Crockett. Give her what looks like a coonskin hat. Most things like that are made out of synthetic fibers.
  8. Re: Help with helpful "Monsters" Unicorn helpful of man? Yeesh. That thing was more viscious than a dragon. It's the one that ate virigns not the dragon. At any rate, the myths have changed over the years. Moving on to the others. Talos comes to mind for your landbased character. It is the name of a GIANT bronze statue that defended a city. The dolphin is a sea creature regarded with good fortune. The oriental dragons are also associated with the sea. The Griffin was the symbol of Christ in medieval Christan Lore. The romans have them depicted as drawing the chariot of the sun The Naga (half human/half serpent) are considered to be divine beings. The king of the Nagas was said to have used his cobra hood to shield the meditating Buddha for a week after his enlightenment
  9. Actually. Superman had to wait while the yellow sunlight recharged his powers. It is not the first time he has lost his powers due to lack of sunlight. His vision powers are the first powers to go.
  10. Hawkgirl did beat up a group of GL's without the mace. She got some pretty good KB on a few of them with a single punch. Which brings us to the insane levels of energy abosrtion that Jon had to use against the uberManhunter after merging with the Central Power Battery
  11. Number 2 is a RKA with either an NND or an AVLD bonus with the special effect of teleporting. 3 & 4 would be all or nothing Power Drains or an all or nothing Tranform attack with a very easy way to undo the effect
  12. Re: Re: Re: Off-Genre Characters: The Do's and Don'ts Which is kind of odd, considering Sir Justin of the Seven Soldiers of Victory of DC comics. A knight in shining armor with a magic sword riding a winged horse time tossed into WWII from the days of yore
  13. Rima was in at least one of the SuperFriends episodes. I do wonder why Green Arrow was never in any of the shows. The trick arrows were a natural. Especially the boxing glove arrow.
  14. Gleek The Wondertwins Zan & Jayna Rima
  15. Speed Shadow in Mandarin Chinese - Su du Ying ji Speed Shadow in Cantonese Chinese-Chuk douh Ying zi Speed Shadow in Japanese-Sokudo Kage
  16. On the Russian front, this could cause some tensions. Baba Yaga. Normally, she's a NASTY witch, but I think she'd NOT want the Germans around her. Prester John could show up. His kingdom is somewhere in Europe or Asia. Just no one knows where. I'm curious about something. WHY did Hitler mess around with the Nordic mythos? Valkyries, Thor, etc. I would think that he would have perfered to use Iberian mythos.
  17. No. Superheroes is the name of the book. Peer Review is the name of the story in the book. I should have made that a little more clear. There is also the Maximum Boy series of books that can be picked up. It starts off with the title 'How I Became a Superhero.' Just go to http://www.amazon.com and type in 'Maximum Boy' in the search engine.
  18. Peer Review. Justice Commision is the name of the group. Michael Stackpole is the author and one of the characters(Revenant) was used as an example in Champions II or Champoins III and all of the charcters and people who played them were listed as credits in the front of the Champions books. So if you want a Champions based story to read, get that book. I do wonder if Steve Long and and any of the others working for DoJ sent a story to GoO for Paths of the Just.
  19. Superheroes edited by John Varley(& Rica Mainhardt) ISBN 0-441-00307-9 The heroes are a bit odd in a couple stories. 'Theme Music Man' for instance. Peer Review does have a Justice League/Avengers knockoff, but they have their own quirks. In July, Guardians of Order will be releasing the 'Paths of the Just' anthologhy of stories.
  20. You are welcome. If I had a Korean-English dictonary, I'd have the Korean word for Phoenix up for you. Ye Kuang(Light of the Night) aincent chinese term for Moon Getting ahold of some language dictonaries will help out a bit. Hisui Ho-oh translates to Jade Phoenix. But as you said, you want the Korean heritage left in. There was this M*A*S*H episode you might want to try and watch. A Korean man refused to have treatment in the 4077 until the place was exorcized by one of their preistesses. There was a term for that person. I can not remember it. To help identify the episode: Hawkeye did a bit right before the preistess was brought in. 'I exorcise all evil spirits' Frank Burns walked out and Hawkeye went back and said, 'My god, it works.' Use the term for that preistess and throw Jade right before it.
  21. Chinese- Feng Huang Japanese- Ho-oh Egyptian- Benu Well, you have Phoenix in three different languages.
  22. I was going to throw in the Mighty Crusaders, but they have such simplistic names. Fly, Fox, Comet, Jaguar, Shield, Web, Black Hood, Noman I'll do the obvious one. Captain America and Shield Captain Shield(talk about whitebread) Let's combine the team names. Avenging Crusaders of Justice
  23. Actually SAS has some other Villians that are a main part of the world, but no stat write ups as of yet. Atrficer, Green Ronin, Red Minstrel, Sea Wolf, Torque When I first proposed that Firewing go up against General Winter, I didn't expect that to catch on so readily. If Ankylosaur is still around, he can go up against Green Ronin. She'd be a good match for him with her power armor
  24. Egypt-The Sphinx and Great Pyramid France-Fleur De Lis(A fencer) China-Sheng Long
  25. Hmmm. Actually, Champions does have a villian team of noteriety. CLOWN. Moving on. Silver Age Sentinels feels like the old DC universe. The Guard being the Justice League and the White Rooks being the Legion of Doom being led by Darkseid. Champions feels like the Marvel Universe The Champions as the Avengers Viper as Hydra Mechanon as Ultron Doctor Destroyer as Dr. Doom There are small groups of villians who are banded together in Champios. Eurostar, The Ultimates, Project Sunburst, etc. But they feel like they aren't really a major threat to the world. Champions has more villians. But other than Foxbat, Dr. Destroyer, Mechanon, LeRoy the Amazing Exo-Skeleton Man and CLOWN, there are few who are as developed. I don't know if they are considering options on villians. Dr. Destroyer and Kreuzritter are very probably out. Firebird is one of the big names and I hope he goes up against General Winter.
