I'm always mixed on the youth vote.  Obviously, their opinions matters, because future wise they have the most to gain/lose.

But, often times, in my experience, they have absolutely no clue what is going on.   Sometimes worries me, my future is dependent on them.

Edit: Not that others aren't clueless, but the youth are always going to be at a much higher rate.  Especially the 18-25 (I think a couple of years in the working world does force some to learn what is going on)

Do understand, not necessarily talking about the Dem voters, more the party itself.

I do think winning the House in 2018 was the worst thing that could happen to the party.  It lead them to believe that being just anti-Trump works and is all they needed.  Rather than looking in the mirror, which a good trouncing would have forced upon them.  Unfortunately, this will be needed in 2020.  I hope the party can then honestly look at itself and do that.

To be sure, the Republican party needs that moment too,  but it'll likely have to wait till 2024.

Yeah, in baseball I always pull against the team, who gets 3 offensive corner outfielders, and then remember one has to play center.  Always feel proper respect must be made to defense

The basketball equivalent is with the Rockets.  (and with analytics always looking for that "market inefficiency",  it looks the big man who gets double figure rebounds has become the underappreciated, sadly.  Between the Rockets experiment, and Drummond being dumped for the return of a used sink)

Yeah, I am aware.  Hard to know with people other than yourself, where dislike begins in their opinion forming.  Which was probably why in hindsight, my train of thought didn't let me continue. (and it isn't like I am Trump's fan, either).  I just know enough it is impossible to keep things 100% rational. It is how things are, and will likely always will be (with humanity)

Yes, but 1 whole year out of every 4, vs 3 months every year is still an identical percentage.

And not to mention, the biannual Congress votes. And the fact, I live in a state (VA) that holds governor votes on odd years.  So, I don't even get the luxury of it being an every other year thing.

My mind is trying to create the devil's menagerie this week.  2 dreams so far with monsters.

    1) Evidently, I was leaving work one night.  Encountered a teenage girl and 2 young siblings running from something.  What was chasing them evidently some kind of living shadow got to me.  It apparently wasn't satisfied with invisibility to sight.  It has some kind of sonic attack it would use (got a sense it used partly from a sadistic nature) that would disorient its prey when near, so it couldn't know which direction was which or where the attack was coming from.  It then put me in some kind of trance just before right when it was going to attack ( I was seeing the Vger background from ST when the Klingons were attacking for whatever reason in the trance.) Anyway right before it attacked, I got grabbed by the teenager, and at least temporarily saved.  Luckily, while running for it, we encountered some gang.  And the monster decided to go after them first.  The first one was seemingly levitated, and then rapidly "shot" by "sonic bullets" until their bodies seemed somewhat pulverized by devoured in shadow.  (which would have been me, if I was saved a fraction of a second later).  By the time, it started on the 2nd one, we ran for it. Hid amongst some big rocks, where seemingly it couldn't find us with sonics until sunrise. In the dream, it was learned it was a demon summoned by a witch of some sort.

    2) Went hunting with a dog,  encountered something glowing behind the remains of some brick building in the woods.  An 8-ft red gorilla, and it was radiating heat/fire  (think Balrog*, in the LOTR movie a few years ago).  It attacked, I got some burns on my chest, the dog was burned worse, but we escaped.   Evidently, in the next couple of days, the National Guard was called out. Although hunting had been forbidden until it was found.  I was p!ssed over the dog's injuries.  So, feeling well enough (maybe determined enough) I set out to track it down.  This put me at odds when encountering a squad of 6-7 of the Guard.  But, the thing attacked,  had a perfect shot through the scope at the skull.  But, it seemed to bounce off like the "char" it had created was some kind of suit of armor.  So, we all ran for it.  And everytime looking back, due to it being mad, it was setting everything afire within a radius.  (woke up)

So, Sonic Shadow Demon and the Hell-Gorilla.

I'd probably could go clean-shaven, if not for my chin.  Never could shave that right.  As far as against the grain, I don't think any 2 hairs have the same "grain".  Pretty much, had to hack until all the facial hair was gone, and hope I had skin left.  To some extent, another reason I went 1-2 weeks was for the purpose of healing.

Since, I do prefer having skin on my chin, I think my decision is best.

Note: and if I did go shave everything but the chin, I'd look like homeless Abe Lincoln.

Yeah, I think the latter you mentioned is the biggest problem.  It pretty much gives the hospitals the ability to pick any crazy amount they are in the mood to demand, and dare the insurance company to balk at it.

One of the biggest drivers in medical costs in our country is an unfriendly regulatory environment that causes doctors and hospitals to spend way to much time, energy, and money jumping through bureaucratic hoops.  I have worked in the hospital environment before, and I am currently trying to get back in.  Most of the actual effects of our regulations is turning the medical profession into a fear based environment where a lot of resources go into self-protective choices.

Reforming the bureaucracy associated with the medical profession to the minimum necessary would go a long ways toward improving services and reducing costs.

Another driver in medical costs is the availability of insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.  All of these options increase costs to medical providers by increasing the amount of paper work that is needed to do medicine.  In addition, they also function as invisible moneys that have a real affect on the supply and demand curves even though they are effectively fake money.  This pushes the value of medical services to the point that they cannot be obtained without outside resources like insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.  You want to decrease the cost of medical services you have to decrease the effects of invisible money.
