  2. Re: "Dark Flow" Discovered at Edge of the Universe I think the thought was that a black hole would pull at an "uneven" rate across the "expanse" that is the effected area, probably seen in current models of black holes we can see. I am far from a person who would actually know, being really bad at math and all, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn. What?
  3. Re: How to build a Cheap City 1.5" these are printed paper cities, they have a grid on them. The ones in these pics, and the ones I'm using have 1.5" grids, so they are scaled to the HeroClix... The other ones offered by the two major sites that I'll be using are all 1" grids. It's only the "modern" or Possible to be use to the Clickies as I hear their called. I think most of the Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror scale are all in 1" grids. Mainly these are just 3d gaming maps. And the only scale I've seen them in (I know there can be others, but this is all I've "seen") are the 1" and the 1.5".

    Cheap Buildings

On the online resources sub-forum (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71524), I'm working on building a city for 1.5" minis, I'm cross-posting this on the Champions, Dark Champions, and Space Hero forums, in case anyone has been looking for this type of resource and hasn't known it existed. These pictures are of someone elses city, not mine, By the way, they are to show an example of what they say can be done, I'm in no way an artist, so if I can do this, anyone can.

    I killed a PC.

Re: I killed a PC. Meh, no one stays dead in supers comics.
  8. Re: Making up a current Day Germany for Champions..... Frankenstein is a very Germanic sounding name, so I figured it would be cool to go for it there, you could even have "The Monster" it self as a Hero (Brick tiype), or even just a body that's a brick, one of your master villain's come-backs in his "body." As far as the Dr... I Think him as a good guy is cool too, I was just having a brain-gasm. Werewolves... I was just following the information in that link, I don't know How Literal it is. I was also thinking a Classic Barbarian, Or even a Gaul Maybe a Classic Knight... Heck, continuing with the Ring and the Nibelung Sigurd or even Fafnir, both as the actual Hero and Dragon, or as names for supers with powers that evoke the image of those in the story. The Prussian- a militant like super. Here's more from The Ring and the Nibelung http://www.timelessmyths.com/norse/german.html#German and some from Beowulf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Germanic_deities_and_heroes Outside of the Wagner epic, a list of Pseudo-Norse gods.
  9. Re: Making up a current Day Germany for Champions..... There is some interesting mystical information about Germany. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, of which Alistair Crowly was a well known member, was a real world "magical society of wizards." Certain information was given to the creator of the order, from a German woman, who supposedly was in contact with other greater Mages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermetic_Order_of_the_Golden_Dawn And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Sprengel It's not exactly as I read it, but close enough. This suggests Anna Sprengel didn't exist, but she might be for your game. Also I believe that one of the oldest known origin of Tarot lies somewhere in Germany. At least according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberon Oberon: King of the elves, is based in German Lore. And going off of the Ring and the Nibelung, you could even introduce the Cast of the Nordic Gods, with their Germanic names: Wotan (Odin), Donner (Thor), Lodge (Loki), etc. Large somewhat brutish villains, or Honorable super team type... but they could get you some extra mileage. Even a group of Techno-super suits made up of Chicks, called the Valkyrie. What about a mad scientist who is using an army of Technology based super-zombies, he is mad and trying to validate the ridiculing of his ancestor- Friedrich Von Frankenstein. Other ideas Werewolves: http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/werewolf.html Humm This has given me ton's of ideas (my super-group may be moving to Germany soon): http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/gerchange.html More ideas here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_folklore "Character folklore includes the stories of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, the trickster hero Till Eulenspiegel, the Town Musicians of Bremen and Faust." Faust, how could I forget... man this could be a good guy, or bad guy either way, or just a magic user who uses his name, a fire based Energy Projector... Pied Piper- a Psi w/ mind control? I mean Wow. More here: "Some of the works of Washington Irving - notably Rip van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - are based on German folktales." Rip Van Winkle- Sleep based bad guy, or actual "man from the past"? The Legend of Sleepy Hollow- The Headless bloody Horseman... Oh, this is too cool. I now want my supers to fight the Headless Horseman! That's all I got for now... Hope this is some of what you were looking for.
  10. Re: Surely You're Joking, Mr Long. I personally probably will rule that the "M" in OMCV/DMCV stands more for Mystical then Mental. That way I can have it as a separate Combat Value for whatever setting I'm running. (Magical for fantasy, Mental for Sci-fi or modern psychic, Mechanical for mechanopaths- witch are very mentally anyway in Hero, ETC.) Just my 2 copper on the deal.
  11. Re: What is your plans for your first 6th Edition game?
  12. Re: Italian Champions game Now, I've set up both Viper and Demon as antagonistic goups, and some of the games will revolve around those groups wanting a chunk of the hero's pie. Viper wanting the hammer of Christ, and Demon desiring the Lance. But what I need is a nice solo villain, in that I have decided that Satan has figured with two relics out, fighting for good, he needs to balance the scale a little bit. So (running off the idea that Satan was once an archangel, we know both Gabriel and Michael have a sword, so what ever happened to Satan's?) This will be a fairly narcissistic "pretty boy, oily toung" bad guy, who has the blade of Satan. Now I've gotten Ideas of a Sauron (pre- fall of Numenor) like character, Very Beautiful man deceitful, may even get into the party as a "non-super" support type, to work his evil from within. Then occasionally coming out as his "super self." Then as he is "defeated" he looses his beauty as his nature comes to the surface as perverted by the blade. up to a final boss type battle near the end (of that storyline at least) where he looks more Balrog demon, than human. but what to give him "now" in the current incarnation? Thoughts and Ideas are appreciated.
  13. So, I've finally set up a Champions game, and I was working on a new villain, so I figured I'd set up the campaign so that you know what your getting into. First, Our PC's... The Paladin- (this was played out BTW). Recently the hammer that Christ used as a carpenter was uncovered and brought to the Holy see to be studied. It was brought to a room within the Etruscan Museum, where there was a class of American students and a "local street child" who decided to sneak in to see what he could see. Viper wanted this artifact for themselves, as it would increase their power. Viper busted into the room where the class was and the Street kid stood up to them... so one of the Viper agents decided this was taking too long, so he took his VB-A4 Jackhammer (minigun, I figured) and rolled this kid through a set of doors in the back (where they were working on the hammer), and he landed (full of holes) atop the table, and the hammer amidst some very confused archeologists. In the other room The Shaman powered up, and started fighting with the assembled Viper agents. After a conversation with the Archangel Michael, this young man (I keep forgetting his non super name...) was recruited as "The Paladin," and the hammer changed form to a large battle hammer (a self described Tank-adin Defense heavy brick). Victory was soon at hand, and the police were talked with. After some confusion The Paladin won over the authorities, however he was asked to say in Rome. The Shaman and he crashed at her Hotel room (no romance, just... he had nowhere else to stay.) The Shaman- Crystal Riverwater was born to a Immigrated Chinese Father, and a Souix mother, When she started Highschool (this is backstory, not played out) she found she would "see" the spirits of the earth, and could talk to them. Her grandmother began to teach her the way of the shaman, to talk to and bind powers of the spirits to items around her person, so that she might gain super human abilities. Basically she's a magical Energy Projector, with a MPP of elemental effects, one for movement elemental effects, and some perception modifiers. Her trademark ability is her flame gout, but this tends to do some bit of collateral damage, so she's learning to either make it rain enough afterwords to counter the fire damage, and create more water damage. She's working on a Shadowrun-like mana ball, so she lessons the damage all around her. The two Decided to take the next day to talk about what had happened, not to mention The Paladin wanted to find out why these guys in green were in the museum. Along the way they ran into an ambush upon another super. These guys in red robes (Demon) were attempting to take the Lance of Longinus (for some reason when I said magical/ religious builds, everyone decided to go for a Christian relic outlook) from our next hero: The Valkyrie- Pretty much a Mover (though not necessarily a speedster) styled after a very anime style jumping character, that I don't know, but we styled her fairly well I think. We have two secondary Characters who have come along. Uriel- Basically a brick ripped off of the Pitt from image comics. Zorro- um... yah, he's the newest wearer of the Zorro costume. pretty basic there. Only one American (Uriel), one Chinese Souix, two Italians (The Paladin, The Valkyrie), and one Spaniard (Zorro). This is a bit of a different cultural mix for me, but fun I think. Next post the meat of the question, How to build Blade Bane, holder of Satan's archangel sword.....
  14. Re: What is your plans for your first 6th Edition game? I'm probably going to convert my Cowboy Bebop/ Firefly/ Martial arts game over to 6e. My Sunday game is a supers that's having attendance problems, We've been kicking around a "return of magic" Modern world game.... I dunno, I may just go back to updating the characters and making no changes.
  15. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #8: APG Goodies Well, on a more serious tone about Chucking: there is no power other than Str. with a limitation (only for throwing) for increasing your throw. I mean now you can buy increased Damage, skill rolls, and (in 5th) jumping, all separately; but hopefully the Chucking is serious, because you'll be able to add throwing to the list of "purchasable outside Str." Seriously, that's something Str gives, but hasn't been decoupled, or talked about even... I can't think of many builds, or even Supers or whatnot that would need it, but with the idea of complete toolkitting.... meh, My 2 copper.
  16. Re: Confessions of Infidelity Not to hijack this thread any further, but I have never really been able to "get" GURPS. I've tried several times (I've even said so in previous posts), but for some reason there is a core concept or two that I think I'm just bringing in from Hero. And it makes it so I just can't get GURPS. I even got the computer character generator, that didn't help at all. I mean I've played it a few times at Origins, even got a signed copy of the Special Forces book. I use a ton of GURPS books and convert them to Hero after I've plundered their systems to heck and back... but I just can't seem to make the system right in my head.
  17. Re: New to Hero - Alterantive tech and Dark Champion Question yup, I prefer to play Hero, but I steal from everywhere else. Check out what you want from where ever. You like Steampunk? Do a web search, or read a book/ watch a movie, take the ideas. Build them in a steampunk world (for example). It's one of the best aspects of the system.
  18. Re: New to Hero - Alterantive tech and Dark Champion Question Your English looks good to me, but I only speak bad English (LOL). No Rules per say, for the obscure stuff, I just picked up a Copy of Cyberpunk for GURPS and converted it to Hero. There are plenty of things around the boards, just look and you should find a lot. Dark Champions: The Animated Series, is more like less Violent Dark Champions stuff. Like the Animated Batman stuff. Hope this helps a bit, but there will be others after me that will better point you in the right direction.
  19. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #8: APG Goodies A big question for me a this point, and I don't know if this is the place for it, but (yah I know, "should Wolf really be saying "but" after that?") will the Hero Designer for 6e be updating for the APG? Due to the amount of work needed for the HD, I can see this being rather tedious for Simon (but not beyond him, oh the great work he does on all the HD goodness, wait I got a little something on my nose... ). And yet I'm torn because of the usefulness of some of those things, to what I'd want built... ya know?
  20. Re: Tokyo Scientists Find That Humans Glow The article also said that most things emit light ("In fact, virtually all living creatures emit very weak light, which is thought to be a byproduct of biochemical reactions involving free radicals.") so there may be an evolutionary link to Bio-luminescence (my conjecture, non-founded). So maybe we lost the bright light, while species like fireflies or those underground/ deep underwater kept theirs. *shrug* I think it's unlikely, but possible.
  21. Re: Noddite Orb Superpower Source Very elegant.
  22. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Though I love all things German, and most German weapons, I always have had a problem with the selector switch on most H&K longarms/SMG's. My stupid thumbs are just too short to switch it while keeping my fingermesh with the trigger. As for the colt/Knights Armory/Bushmaster M series weapons, maybe it's the amount of training I've had with the weapon, but it's so much more comfortable to me.
  23. Re: Cool Guns for your Games No kidding it's a heavy beast. I forgot that about it. We took it out to my back yard (a small 40 acre plot), so not too much walking. And it was before I ever even thought about heading into the military. But yah, it's weighted like the Garand, witch is also a great weapon, just too heavy by today's standards.
