  1. Re: Chronicles of Gor Well, it's available as a pdf here. You could also check online stores to see who might have a printed copy available. With UMA and Ninja Hero, you'd have pretty much everything you need to do HK style fighting scenes.
  2. Re: When's the next new 1/2 priced book? Maybe they do it based on whatever title has the most unsold boxes in the office? It's been a while since the last change though.
  3. Re: [Campaign Log] Sophia's Barbarians Ah, 1/6th of the way to losing her soul.
  4. Re: Fixin' what's broken - switching from d20 to HERO I suppose we could just simplify things even further with two Powers: one that is called Normal Attack and one that is called Killing Attack. Then whether it is a HTH attack or a ranged attack would be part of the SFX description.
  5. Re: Fixin' what's broken - switching from d20 to HERO Ranged Normal Attack kind of lacks pizzazz though. I prefer Energy Blast.
  6. Re: [Campaign Log] Sophia's Barbarians Yes, but players can get unlucky sometimes. I recommend doing every favor you can as often as you can, no matter how chintzy. The good news is that a kindly GM can work doing these favors into new story hooks.
  7. Re: Paladin help It's funny, but I keep getting this image in my head that the Sugan sound a bit like Jews in Dark Ages Europe, although better respected. It would certainly give an interesting role-playing hook for them.
  8. Re: All heroes are NOT created equal In DH #3, there is an article on "Pointless Champions" which discusses how to run a campaign with characters of varying point totals. It sounds like it is exactly what you are looking for.
  9. Re: Focus inquery You just use both Limitations on the power, and it should replicate what it sounds like you are looking for. If he has more than one charge, then he just has multiple stuffed animals available.
  10. Re: Fixin' what's broken - switching from d20 to HERO I could make some additional source recommendations if you like this sort of action: Digital Hero #8 has an article written on how to do anime style stuff in the Hero System. It is written by Michael Surbrook, who posts on these boards as Susano. Ninja Hero - the new edition is also written by Michael, and it is a wonderful resource for how to do martial arts action campaigning, from the real world all the way up to video game style action like in Street Fighter or even anime style power levels like Dragonball. He also runs a website with a ton of Hero source material and character write-ups.
  11. Re: [Character] White Phoenix - Adult Version Sometimes a character concept just demands to be written up. Now that I've gotten this character out of my system, I can turn my attentions back to writing up Red Sonja, unless something else draws my attention.

Background: For the origins of this character, please refer to the teenaged version. It's now four years later, and Bobby/Qi Yin has matured into a young adult, now attending college in Vibora Bay and growing into a more capable martial artist every year. Where once White Phoenix was villified by the press in Millenium City as a teenaged vigilante, she has proven herself to the public to be a hero. During the past four years, she has attracted the attentions of a recurring cast of foes: Green Dragon, who refuses to admit he can be beaten by a woman; Mirage, who has tangled with the young hero several times and developed a strong desire to humiliate the White Phoenix; Talisman, due to White Phoenix teaming up with Witchcraft on several occasions; and VIPER, who has seen several schemes frustrated by the young hero, one defeat even leading to the loss of a Nest. Where once Bobby was afraid and unsure of his identity, he has come to accept and enjoy his dual nature. Now the White Phoenix has come to Vibora Bay to begin the next stage of life. She has already worked on a few cases with Black Mask, earning the trust of Vibora Bay's most famous hero. Powers: With practice, Bobby has learned how to modify Qi Yin's form slightly, in order to separate a civilian identity of Qi "Carol" Yin, who is studying dance even while Bobby pursues degrees in science. As Qi Yin, her COM is lowered slightly by means of the Makeup Adder, and boosted slightly when she is the White Phoenix. A pair of glasses and a change of hairstyle completes the disguise. The White Phoenix has become a force to be reckoned with in the Martial World, perhaps the strongest female martial artist, and her techniques have broadened and strengthened. Nightwind has come to respect her abilities, and more recently so has Black Mask.
  13. Re: Focus inquery Maybe do it as a Recoverable Charge?
  14. Re: Fixin' what's broken - switching from d20 to HERO Aren't MAC cultists more likely to play White Wolf stuff than D&D?
  15. Re: Focus inquery Well, for something like this, you might want to take into consideration how big and bulky the focus is, is it easily breakable, and how difficult is it to be replaced. It sounds like you are on the right track so far. What kind of Focus is it going to be? What would be cool if it was something like a man-sized statue that transformed into the creature. What could make it more difficult to replace is if it has to be made from rare materials or sculpted by an order of blind monks or the like.
  16. Re: Mythos of the Werewolf Now there's a dramatic scene description.
  17. Re: Going Crazy! Just a thought, but you might want to make available the ability to heal back from the psychological trauma with psychological therapy. I think that was available in CoC, but it required months of time to work (1-6 months, I believe). Of course, you could be gradually driving your psychiatrist insane as you talk about your problems, which raises an entire new area of possible plotlines.
  18. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Exactly. And can you imagine the rivalries going on among his children, especially with some of his ex-wives possibly playing politics?
  19. Re: Chronicles of Gor All I can recall of the stories is that they took place on an Earthlike world called Gor that orbits in Earth's orbit, only on the far side of the sun. The technology of the humans there is maintained at an iron age level due to the influence of these alien overseers called priest-kings. The main character, Tarl Cabot, is an earthman who gets transported/kidnapped to Gor. Women are basically slaves there. That's all I recall.
  20. Re: The Munchkin Build Contest It's an oddly pleasing sound, isn't it?
  21. Re: Paladin help Well, I could see Summon as a possible power.
  22. Re: Chainmail Bikini Effects
  23. Re: Chainmail Bikini Effects
  24. Re: Aid Succor and 0 END What would you think of Succor that draws off an END Reserve, maybe the only power a character has that does? Too powerful since END is really cheap in a Reserve? I could see that as being useful for a sort of 'supercharger' effect.
