  1. Thank you for all your help. This ought to do the trick, if there is a character in there...
  2. My wife has a good idea for a character concept, but she's having a hard time getting into the ehad of this character. I wonder if there is a resource I can lok at with lists of questions or something like that which will help me help her understand this character she's created better?
  3. You'd almost have to start from scratch on the rest of the team. Maybe look back to Giffen's run on JLA (yeugh!) for a hint on how lame the characters would have to be.
  4. I just have the sense that it'd be some sort of telekinesis and lightning-based power structure. Maybe not even that strong, just enough to get her into Starburst's league. I mean, if she's a 350-pointer, what is she still doing as their maid?
  5. I think the main difference is, they breathe water.
  6. Cool! I wish I had a player in my group who I could do this to and not have him hate me for it. This is similar to the "Radiation Accident" effect, you can totally reboot your hero this way. Does it have to be his hand? Well, never mind, it's okay. It probably wouldn't affect Bengal much. He mainly uses his off hand to attack anyway. He could continue to do this. Hummingbird would probably use the points to pull an "omni-arm" effect, like Aquaman. Nothing better for a science hero than to show how good science can be. I don't know, this doesn't seem like a particularly bad thing to me overall.
  7. Valiant was gonna be so cool. I don't know what happened. Oh yeah, they never hired any writers. The Visitor vs the Valiant Universe was a pretty cool mini.
  8. The first twenty or so issues of New Warriors was pretty cool. Dealt with some new organizations, new villains, new heroes in a couple cases. And the team grew both individually as people, and power-wise. I can't help but feeling after about 50 issues that it was ret-conned to be a book for characters who were trying out for the Avengers.
  9. Well, Marvel has Doom, Richards, Pym, Banner, and Stark. DC Has Luthor, Kord, uhm... Point to Marvel. Marvel has the Squadron Supreme and the Avengers, and the mutants. DC has the JLA, JSA, Doom Patrol, and, uhm... Infinity Inc. Point to Marvel. DC has Batman, Marvel has Captain America. Forget point to Marvel, point straight-up to Cap. I would say, the battle would have to be very close. But in the end, Captain America would climb up on top of a huge pile of dead bodies. Marvel wins.
  10. How about Aquaman? The biggest loser in the JLA until he got rebooted. He's pretty cool now. I'd also like them to try a multi-generational origin for a Hawkman, but, you know, make it work.
  11. I'll vote for Power Pack right after I vote for Black Lightnin and Brother Power the Geek. You know what they probably will put in, but shouldn't? The New Warriors (aren't they all new warriors?).
  12. Linear Men, the old Manhunter from the Silver Age, Triune Understanding, Top 10, Shadowcat (but, you know, make her a lot less lame), lots of heroes revealing their secret IDs like it seems they are doing at Marvel now.
  13. Thanks Steve. The character as constructed now shares most disadvantages, all characteristics, all skills, and a vehicle. What changes with Multiform are identity-specific Disads, powers (based on equipment), some perks, and to a small extrent peronality, since each hero ID has his own persona. This last is more of a way to keep people from piecing together that they're all the same guy.
  14. You got it, Dave, those articles, while somewhat dated, are really a special resource. Can you tell me, what happened to articles 1-8, or whatever the number of initial ones that are now missing? I'm interested in locating the name generator at the very least.
  15. There's something to be said for pushing buttons. In this case, the thing that can be said is, "Don't push that button."
  16. My concerns are the Restrainable (maybe more appropriate is Gensures (-1/4) ?) and the high damage. Since we're talking TK here, I think it would be more appropriate to make them RKA No Range. Remember, 6d6 killing is like 18d6 normal, something a brick can do on a haymaker and no one else can touch, in a "standard" campaign. In the interest of keeping villains alive past the first post segment-12 recovery, you may wish to both scale back that main attack a bit and also make the attacks normal damage attacks (despite the SFX). 12-14 DC for your strongest attack is probably OK since you're going to have elements of an energy blaster. The variable advantage more than makes up for what you lose in raw power.
  17. Man, I feel so lame. All my games are paper age.
  18. There's no way anyone asks for a date with Bengal. Unless it's a trap... but I don't think he'd get that, either. Kind of a moot question. As for Science Hero Hummingbird, sure, he'd go along. He likes dating, and he's just the sort of "public-eye" superhero that wqould get asked about this sort of thing. Being a lifelong batchelor, most likely nothing would come of it but some good pub, and everyone likes good pub.

  20. I miss the Street Fighter II RPG.
  21. I don't think this is actually a Perk. It's just a sort of interesting bit of backstory. In fact, I can't see this being with a Distinctive Feature either.
  22. Absorbing Man is clunky, but not that bad. Buy him with NCM to start, near human max in physical stats. Then add about as much STR and Armor as you can (and end and stun and body and whatever if you think is appropriate) make armor Nonpersistent (-1/4) and Only Up to the amount of surface or character touched (-1/2) or more if your GM is generous. Add STR Linked proportionately to Armor (-1/2) or (-1/4) if you decide on more active points in STR than in Armor, and then tie in a Cosmetic Transform. Actually, the Absorbing Man could be much mroe powerful than he is. In the far future, he somehow gets smarter, and uses his knowledge and powers to kill four of the Avengers. He is only limited to what he can touch because he can't remember the chemical formulae for anything interesting
  23. I'm thinking about a Dr. Pym type character, who uses a number of different identities with different power sets. He himself stays the same, but his powers change based on the equipment and costume he uses. Is Multiform the proper way to construct this? Can you think of another way?
  24. My character Blackhawk nee' Nighthawk started out as the sidekick to the old Nighthawk. His name was Nifty, the Boy Furie. So it was Nighthawk and Nifty. What do you want? It was the Silver Age! And Blackhawk nee' Nighthawk's own sidekick was (before her untimely banishment back to her home dimension) named Maggie. So sort of like Magpie.
