  1. Re: Another view of Damage Negation (6e) I like having a new defense tool to play with. This looks like it'll be good for modeling vehicles, and I'd probably add them to the Size Templates in some form. We'll see when I actually start working my way around 6E
  2. Re: Harbinger of Justice Like you mentioned earlier, I'm assuming an ambush by HoJ as being the only likely situation where he might take Dr. D. A nasty super skill option that occurred to me was to use Resistant Piercing on a skill roll as a sort of instant Find Weakness/Superior Targeting ability. I'd have said AP, but with only 40 active to play with it's nae enough. I still agree that for the most part Dr. D wipes the map with him, but I think HoJ could pull a surprise win, although I wouldn't bet those odds.
  3. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Follow Me -Uncle Kracker
  4. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. At Folsom Street Fair yesterday... Moi: "Nahh, we're not staying for any afterparties. I have to work in the morning and only got a couple hours of sleep." Friends: "Had too much fun last night?" Me:"I was almost a spectator, actually." My small cute girlfriend, looking at the tall lovely one "Yeah,I spent too long f**king his girlfriend." (wow, am I happy they like each other...wheeeeeee)
  5. Re: Traveller Hero I agree completely
  6. Re: HA, Ranged This was the basic structure I was hoping to see in 6th, sigh. My personal version would've probably looked something like this... Consistent Attack (Formerly EB & HA) uses Normal Dice Mechanic Volatile Attack (formerly RKA & HKA) uses Killing Dice Mechanic either @ 5 points per DC. Normal Attack (works against normal Defenses) is the default, Killing Attack (works against resistant Defenses) is a +0 to +1/2 advantage (adjust to taste, see the million pages of text in the archives for ideas, I personally lean towards a +1/4) "Ranged" or "STR Adds to Damage" any attack gets one of these advantages by default (By defining them as Ranged or HTH). Removing the default Advantage is a -1/2 lim, adding the other is a +1/2 Advantage Both attacks use a optional Stun Mod die, or a fixed multiple. Additional Stun Mod grants a +0.5 Mod to Consistent Attacks, and a +1 Mod to Volatile Attacks. Consistent Attacks use the (normal, as we currently know it) Bod on one die 1= x1/2 Stun, 2-5= X1 Stun 6= x2 Stun or a Fixed x1 Volatile attacks use the (current Stun Lotto) Bod pips on One Die minus One, Min 1 So, a big hammer, f'rinstance, could be modeled as a Volatile Normal HtH attack. If you can throw it, you'd just tack on Ranged.
  7. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Nice list. I like the M-1 Garand for a 30-06 option, it's tough, reliable, accurate, fairly common and usually cheap.
  8. Re: Modern Military Zeppelins three words. Hyperion Power Module. We can SO do nuclear Airships now...
  9. Re: Cool Guns for your Games actually, I think it's damn keen. after a close encounter with an annoyed mama bear, I started seriously looking at big bore snubbies for a trail gun. That'un a daisy, and I'm personally very fond of Rugers. I wouldn't, however, expect much distance accuracy out of it, but just to reach out and touch something at 10 feet or so....

  12. Re: A Thread for Random Videos I've been getting some good chuckles from Red vs. Blue, and I've never even touched a HALO game http://redvsblue.com/archive/
  13. Re: Star HERO with... not magic, really, but... nicely pondered, me likey
  14. Re: [for fun] The Blue Moon Killer vs. Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli well, now that CO is up and running, and if I haven't misunderstood things Steve is play HoJ quite gleefully there, now I suppose all someone has to do is make The Fonz and see...
  15. Re: Social Limitation: Pet (5e) "Yeah.. well I’ve been busy, you know. I got this owner thing over here that I have to take care of. You know the humans are more hassle than they’re worth." -Foamy the Squirrel

  16. Re: Star HERO with... not magic, really, but... The Warhammer 40K setting could be mined for some ideas as well
  17. Re: 6E: Contagious Disease? As an alternative to the Killing attack, the Transform could add a Disad...*err* Complication Dependence (on proper rest, fluids, care, whatever) to give it the offensive "bite", which is also very tweekable to fine tune your disease.
  18. Re: Medieval Diet generically speaking I expect it'd go sumthing along these lines... the basic fare, or farmers meal, would be coarse bread, whatever soup or stew they had going that day, small (weak) beer and possibly a bit of butter. for an appropriate upcharge, you'd add luxury "sides" such as fruit, cheese (hard cheaper than soft), whatever meat they're serving at that point, fresh or preserved (fowl, fish, or mutton mostly if fresh unless in cattle country, ham, corned beef and bacon being the common preserves). A few specialty items would be available based on what the cook had to cook and what they were good at. Deserts are big in this category, as are daily specials for those with the inclination to pay. All this of course depends on region. I'm assuming generic pseudo-European fantasy setting. I know, f'rinstance, that the daily ration of a Scottish mercenary Galloglagh was paid a daily provision of a pound each of barley, beef, and butter. As well as a lot of beer. Around a gallon, IIRC Tho I have my suspicions they were being typically Irish about language and it'd be better considered "A pound of grain, a pound of meat, and a pound of processed milk products" I'm less familiar with some of your other questions, but from what I've studied of the period having a "byre", or inhouse barn was pretty standard practice in most of the cooler climates. Sharing body heat and not having to dig through snow to feed, water & tend your animals both don't suck, and all the bloody smoke drives out most of the bad smells... A group bedroom often shared space with a partially walled off byre, while the "better" accommodations were in the further parts of the building. Lots of sleeping closets built into the walls (walls were thick), with the "Master Bedroom" being a second floor or loft. I'd expect to see this basic arrangement (essentially a family farm) as an inn, with multiple buildings and the likely addition of a second floor (uncommon in farms as it's usually cheaper to spread out than up)
  19. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Airship Pirate -Abney Park
  20. Re: Steampunk Ghostbusters Oh, yeah. They already were discussing the rebuild even before they'd rolled it back on to it's carrier. AFAIK, it's already out in the desert, trundling about the Playa (a perfect environment for pith helmeted adventurers) And apropos of nothing besides cool steampunk links, thus far I haven't seen anybody mention Abney Park
  21. Re: Steampunk Ghostbusters For those who don't feel like navigating around that link I posted, a couple of pics, concept sketch & current form (more or less, the pic is a year or two old and they tinker mercilessly). The Haul's steam engine runabout was the one that suffered a catastrophic dis-corporation at the Mayday party I attended (The pilot light went out and filled the engine body with gas, then resparked. *Boom*)
