I would love to see a Silver and Iron age set for Champions - on the ground of Strike Force where it shows the genre and how to adapt Hero to it (and not the other way around).

Several things I'd enjoy seeing even if it broke some things into multiple books.

I saw CNM as "Image". I had no issue making characters though a little one dimensional since normally the Hero powers were really there. Th idea of a universal plug and play system is nice, heck we play Hero - the problem was like the WinModem. More fiddle to get it to work. I remember one big issue with CNM is it had v5 on the front so many thought it was 5th Edition.

Next year (83-23) will be my 40 years of playing Hero, IN July as well.

This is key.  I know that adventures don't sell quite as well; About 1 "Taming Tascora" module has sold for every 10 Western Hero books.  I get that.  But without the support stuff like characters and adventures and campaign settings you don't have a game.  GMs need something they can PLAY immediately, not just the setting and the rules.  There's been 2-3 Champions adventures put out on Drive Thru and they are great stuff, but only one official adventure from Hero Games.  We need more: like ten times that many more.  We need to flood the store with adventures so people have lots of options and stuff to DO with Hero games.

In putting out my Jolrhos Fantasy Hero setting I've been trying to space out one adventure in between each big book, to build up a body of things a GM can do.  We need more of that.  I mean... until I put out the Lost Castle there were absolute no adventures put out for Fantasy Hero since fourth edition, and even then only one book of adventures.   That's ridiculous for a game company.

I did Marshall Dillon and Lucas McCain, and Hoss Cartwright, but none of the rest of the Ponderosa boys.  Most expensive build: Jim West at 272 points, but he has a vehicle and martial arts, etc.

External hard drive for now;  main-use system is a NUC with a small-ish SSD.  Got a 4 TB external, so lots of bigger stuff goes there.

Considering a Win 11 box;  the NUC is feeling sluggish.  Part of that, tho, is Windows and external hard drives.  Drive goes to sleep after a relatively short period of time;  Windows seems to need to reload the entire file table...or something like that.  So there's major lag.  And, the NUC is not Win 11 ready according to MS.  Well, OK, it's an i3-based NUC that's several years old now.  If I do upgrade, I'm likely to go with something like 512 gig SSD and 1 or 2 gig hard drive built in, UNLESS I go for another NUC.  Probably not, but they're dead quiet, and I do love that.

I would say that this is accurate, as at the time Champions was  a large percentage of the games being run at Gencon through the 90's. It was ubiquitous at the time. BBBs were in tall stacks at the Hero booth that sold out over those weekends, and there was "The Hero Auxiliary", running the organized convention games at Gencon.  Those were the days.

Seeker really matured as a character in Watchers of the Dragon. A lot of his silliness was subsumed into a mix that somehow worked. Since Steve Long wrote that, it must have broken Don Morgan's heart that Steve didn't carry him over into the new Champions Universe.

Talents and skills are the big thing between editions earlier than fourth. I've done Golden Age 4th for 6th with little changes. As for Fantasy/DnD, I use the 4th Ed conversion notes for anything pre 3.5.

My comment was that format, not necessarily updating the adventures themselves. And with Hero's current state I doubt we'll see what a lot of 4th offered us in the format it did.  To me.anything needs to be self contained, not saying "well you brought this, now go on a treasure hunt for a book we haven't published in 20+ years".

I'd like to see a return of the 2-4th thin style modules. You can run in a night or two with hooks to add on later.

A Book of Champions would be interesting, detailing the teams over the years similar to Book of.. Destroyer and Mechanon. While Seeker could be left out (wgmhistles innocently) seeing the others updated for the 2k+ era would be nice. Also a revisit to Champions 3K.

IMHO 90% would be a rehash of 5th with the changes for 6th, maybe some updates to new tech. I'd rather see something like Long has done for Dark Champions packages/templates and Gun Fu, just the facts and no filler

I would support Kickstarter's for Hero books, provided budget concerns, even if they were just at a PDF level.

As long as it doesn't end up like Fuzion. Great effort by all concerned, just...fizzled and misunderstood.

Personally, I am thinking that the Chimera project is not a wise expenditure of funds, when what Champions, or any of the sub rules need is something "big", that has almost a campaign sized adventure, a spray of adventure seeds, and a stack of written up villains, and monsters, for the adventure. Duke Bushido had something like this with an adventure  in one of the threads here.  What needs to be done is to produce more adventures with villains, and equipment.  We can't assume that all the GMs are Home Brewers like they have in the past. Because it's in the past, it's not in the way GMs do things now.

HeroGM reacted to Killer Shrike in Magic Weapons and Str Minimums
In my magic systems, it's a design choice; mundane weapons have STR Min but an artificer making a permanent magic item that happens to be a weapon only has to comply with the required / forbidden restrictions of their particular magic system.

In the case of permanent runic weapons, the magic system does not require STR Min to be applied, but also doesn't forbid it. So, maker's choice.

The practical effect of not applying STR Min to a runic weapon is that it will effectively do more damage on average without requiring more dice of effect. From an SFX perspective, as you note "part of the enchantment is that they are almost effortless to use" is a perfectly viable justification.

If you are trying to get a specific permanent runic weapon to a lower point cost and are reaching for plausible Lims to do so, then STR Min is fair game.

On the other hand, if you as the GM want permanent magical weapons to be consistent with mundane weapons, you can just modify the magic system to require permanent magical weapons to take STR Min at a level appropriate to their base weapon type. It's up to you.

Abandoned building in Japan. Is that the roof or a stagnant pool? What was it used for? Was it a medical lab? A robotics company? What secrets are burried inside it?
