Well, I've got it, and I can say I'm not enjoying it. It would be much worse if I didn't have the shots I know but I do feel like grumbling anyway

Hope you get through this quickly and without serious complications!  My symptoms are slowly starting to subside, but I have at least a few more days left to go, I know.

I know it won't make either of you feel better, but I just want to remind everyone that this was the actual objective of the vaccination program: to get to the point where COVID is for most people an aggravation, rather than a trauma and possible mortal threat. It's a huge step forward.

Yes, absolutely.  I'm very grateful to be vaccinated!  (I've unfortunately have had to hear from a family member that I got COVID because of the vaccine, and that just made me feel soooo angry!)

  2. Just sharing this here in case it helps somebody else:  I started feeling a scratchy throat on Sunday, and took an at-home COVID test which returned a negative result.  My symptoms erupted into what seemed to be a full-on head cold by the next day, and continued unabated Tuesday.  Someone suggested that I test again, which I did, and: strongly positive result this time.  Some follow-up Googling educated me that this is at least not uncommon with Omicron, where symptoms can start while the viral load is still low enough not to be picked up reliably by at-home tests.  Re-testing on the 3rd or 5th day after symptoms begin may be advisable.

(I'm not a health care professional, this is just from my own experience, etc., etc. - again, just putting it out there to help anyone else who may not have been aware of this.)

I'm fully vaccinated & double-boosted.  The symptoms have remained at bad-cold levels so far, thankfully - no shortness of breath or anything more serious.  I just get to play the isolation game, oh boy.

  3. Rush for the win!

Other notable stadium/arena shows include Pink Floyd during the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, several Jethro Tull shows, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (seeing them live really opened my eyes to how amazing a player Mike Campbell is!), Pearl Jam multiple times...

In smaller venues, seeing John Paul Jones on his Zooma tour was amazing.  It was a treat to see John Entwistle solo too.  Many others - those are just highlights.

I don't go to live shows any more, though - the percentage of audience members acting crappy and ruining the ability of those around them to enjoy the show eventually just grew to exceed my personal tolerance level.

Is It Cake? Contestants create cakes that look like certain objects, and it's up to the judges to determine which objects are decoys, and which one is cake. (Netflix)

I never would have decided to watch this myself, but my wife wanted to watch it so... It was actually pretty fun!

We then proceeded to watch Baking Impossible which was also enjoyable, but between the two I liked Is It Cake? better.  I think one reason why is that the judges on Is It Cake? are not professional chefs (if there were one or two I don't recall - most were not), and so it was nice to just hear three "everyman" opinions, whereas Baking Impossible has a professional as one of the judges who seemed like they just needed to try and find something negative every time, no matter how small (although there were at couple occasions where the feedback was entirely positive, I will admit).

The current martial arts system first appeared in Danger International.

The idea of paying 10 points for combat maneuvers not otherwise available, rather than paying equal to your STR (or multiples thereof), actually first appeared in Justice Inc. with its Boxing skill.  Aaron Allston, of course, was one of the authors of JI, but I have no idea if Boxing came from him or one of his co-authors.  Danger International certainly expanded upon that basic idea and led to the further developments as noted.

(The earlier Espionage followed the Champions model, but did add the ability to buy limited subsets of martial maneuvers for a fraction of the normal full STR cost, with these subsets defined as specific martial art styles.)

Yep.  I am,watching this happen to my father, and have been for years.

So yes:  while I accept that people do grow and change, I am painfully aware that they can grow to become,_worse_ as well.

Sorry to hear this, but also sympathetic as something similar has been happening in my family :(

  7. I know it's not exactly what you're after, but the Reputation Disadvantage first appeared (according to my notes) in the original Fantasy Hero and was then also presented in Danger International.  My attempt to track the first appearance of game mechanics petered out after DI, so I can only otherwise say that neither Absolute Range Sense nor Combat Luck were a thing up to that point.
