  1. Er, so you're saying that this dragon-folk person can hit me harder with their wing than they can with their arm? I don't know all that much about Dragon-Folk, I find a lot more meat on drumsticks than on wings...
  2. I was in a game once where this guy tried to do that (spread a Physical RKA defined as a gun) He had found weakness with it as well...

I think Shields only scream Captain America if you start throwing them. Unless they're spiked and on a chain in which case they scream Rygar. $0.02
  4. Besides the three multipowers possibly having different sets of limitations, the best reason not to have them all part of one big multipower is so they don't all get nuked at the same time if you run into somebody with a really badass suppress or dispel or something. Current record: 3 multipowers and 2 VPPs on the same character.
  5. No kidding. I went to a showroom with my folks. I think I found one piece of actual, solid wood in the whole place. Anyone who pays full price for that stuff needs to have their head examined. $0.02
  6. FightMan Ambush Bug The Legion of Substitute Heroes (and the legion of substitute heroes...reserves)
  7. 1: Because you can stack the stun mod with a smaller attack laced with power advantages. A 3d6+1 RKA with a +1 stun mod doesn't compare with 5d6, but 2d6 RKA with a +2 stun mod AP might... 2: Having a less lethal attack with a large amount of stopping power is a reasonable enough goal for actual weapons developers to put real money into it. 3: Why should I care? I see no reason why the system needs ANY bonus to the stun multiple at ANY cost. This is a killing attack. It should be used to kill people and damage stuff. 4: You've just described for me the best argument for increasing the cost of the +1 Stun Mod to +3/4. $0.02
  8. Would this thing work on targets with non-standard nervous systems or whatnot? Undead? Golems? Clockwork automatons?
  9. Because the damage shield isn't bought restrainable.
  10. Obviously, you'd be using Dive for Cover with Teleport, not just aborting to your full/half move. Otherwise, nobody would ever use dive for cover unless they thought they could make a dex roll by more than they could move in inches. (not very likely)
  11. I've never been fond of allowing a costume as a DF. I don't see how Shaquille O'Neil has a DF for his laker uniform. I mean, I'm sure he has a DF for being huge and famous, but that doesn't mean that he needs to be suited up to be distinctive... The claws are also iffy. I mean, if I buy a sword cane for a character, I probably wouldn't get a DF for them. They're a special effect. They're visible and distinctive when in use and almost invisible otherwise. $0.02
  12. I have a character that would LOVE to be allowed to abort to Tport. (meanie GM!) No such luck, however. The blink Tport is great when getting shot at. Not so usefull when somebody tosses grenades at you. Oops. greasy blue furry gibs everywhere.
  13. I don't see how setting makes any difference in this case. More damage is more damage. 25% more points for 37% more damage is a bargain no matter how you look at it. Especially if you're allowed to do it multiple times. Especially if you stack it with autofire, explosion, or armor piercing or whatever else floats your boat. $0.02
  14. I don't know that there's a one size that fits all limitation that fits the does no stun disad. I mean, it's a pretty big limitation if you're putting it on a 2d6 RKA no range in a heroic game. It isn't much of a limitation if you put it on a 12d6 RKA in the same context. (who cares if you're con stunned if you're dead?) $0.02
  15. The problem with broader skills and skill enhancers is that it makes everyone's feet larger, so to speak. In the sense that you will be stepping on people's toes more often. The degenerate case is that everyone can do and know everything and that in order to have something that is entirely unique, you'll have to go so far afield there's little to no chance it'll ever come into play, like KS: left handed albino leatherworkers in tuscany. $0.02
  16. Draining 1-9 pts of SPD does not cause the victim to lose a point of SPD. (p73)
  17. Context is everything. I've been in campaigns where dex 23 was the highest. I've been in campaigns where dex 23 was the lowest. Fast enough is defined only when you figure out what stats your teammates and opponents have. If you're using the book writeups, then your work is done. If you're using homebrewed villains, then you have some research to do.
  18. A lot of it depends on what you did in HS. Quite a few people probably 'graduated' with little more than: KS: football, baseball or basketball PS: football, baseball or basketball probably some extra inches of running and some pretty good stats A level or two in some sport or other.
  19. "The HR director" Any character with enough points in followers to have an army/staff of highly competent followers who have between them every skill or knowledge in the book and then some. Why spend 5 points on Detective work on Int/5 + 10 when you could double your staff and hire a couple dozen professional detectives who have it on 19- or higher? "The mouth that roared" Any PC whose primary offensive power is PRE attack.
  20. Obviously, a skill's value will never equal the combat effectiveness of the same points deposited in a core combat ability like CV or damage classes. Assuming that you only ever encounter difficulties that are best resolved by combat. In general, I dislike anything like power frameworks for skills. It's kind of nice being the only PC in a group that has a specific knowledge or skill. Won't happen very often if at all once you let people put skills in frameworks. $0.02
  21. I seem to recall Aaron Williams dropping by the Hero Games booth at GenCon SoCal and chatting a bit with the principals. (I suspect it wasn't about writing up Nodwick and co as FH characters)
  22. Depends on what you want them to do. Do you want these hunteds to fight your pcs or kill them? If the former, cut the dice about in half. If the latter, drop about a die.
  23. uh, so you think it's somehow unfair that your 350 pt character can only have a 350 pt vehicle and 280 points of stats skills and other stuff? Would it be more balanced to allow him to have 100 points of stats and a 1,250 pt vehicle? I suspect not.
  24. My take? De-stigmatize losing. If there is an upside to losing (like getting extra roleplay time whilst captured) then perhaps people would be less tempted to use their munchkin-fu to avoid getting captured. This of course requires villains that don't kill everyone they defeat, or villains that don't vivisect them for data or disassemble their foci or whatever. This isn't likely to happen in a dark champions sort of game. This also requires the PCs to treat defeated enemies with similar regard. If your players regard stashing defeated villains in stronhold, never to return as the only possible winning scenario and everything else is some sort of loss, then this isn't going to work well. $0.02
