  1. Re: The She Wolf Files I agree. This is great and gives me hope that my relatively non-gaming SO might find something to become interested in. We've discussed the possibilities a few times, but she has trouble relating to most genres. Hopefully DC gives us the equalizer and we can finally consumate this relationship with some good gaming!
  2. Re: Fixing Martial Artists I'm with RDU Neil in this. In the RCU (the campaign I play/GM in), normal humans cannot (should) not buy more than 2 DCs for their MA. It just doesn't make sense. Batman cannot punch Darkseid and hurt him. Totally with RDU Neil. Good show!

  10. Re: Visitor's Guide to Astro City Let's hear it for AC! I haven't seen the handbook, but it might work fairly well for a basis for a Champions campaign? I realize of course, that Astro City really isn't about individual heroes, but their effect on society and vice versa... Still, If you love AC, you can't help but think of making it into a Champions campaign.

  12. Re: Fantasy Hero PBEM All of you should check out Herocentral.net. PBeM games don't give the same feel as F2F, but they have their own advantages.

  14. Re: TSR Alternity Peoria, IL! Not very often I see someone post on these boards that lives somewhere nearby! Cool. BoT: I bought the 'starter kit' for a friend when if first came out. We never actually played it, but I found it interesting at least. I may have to look into the *.pdf option.
  15. Re: Anyone have Tomb of Horrors? I have the map for Tomb of Horrors. I'm not too familiar with the Bloodstone module, but love Ghost Tower Inverness which is slightly more 'winnable' than ToH. Send me a PM if you're still intersted in getting a view of the map.
  16. Re: Pulp Hero Forum The differentation begins when you consider the protagonist(s) power levels. Indianna Jones could be seen as significanlty less powerful than Doc Savage or Dorian Grey. Story-wise, yes, I believe you would want so see both. What sort of criteria would you put on character creation? Another thought... The adversaries of a Pulp Adventure game are significantly less powered than Pulp Action. This is all coming from my personal issues trying to get my game, Annals of the Mask off of the ground. I kept butting my head against this misunderstanding between these 'tonal distinctions'.

Pulp Discussion As a GM that's been working on his Pulp Campaign for a couple of years now (with little success of actual playing time, I might add), I thought I'd pose a question to Hero Fandome in general. For your Pulp game, do you see more of a Pulp Adventure (Raiders of the Lost Arc, Rocketeer, style game) or Pulp Action (LXG, Doc Savage) sort of game. What are the merits and disadvantages of each. Which would attract more players?

  21. Keith, I'd be more interested in hearing about what happened to Master Sangiyok in the city of Adala while speaking to the Merchant Bandit in the Hole Market... That sounds like a great story! Back to the topic: How come I haven't seen more mention of Magic Systems? I agree with Lezentauw and Steve... Magic changes everything... Anyone got more advice on creating orignal, theme-oriented Magic Systems? I'm ignorant of Game Mechanics and want to talk meshing the Magic System with the backdrop of the setting... Any takers?
  22. Still have room? I'd certainly be interested in this. I don't know anything about Western Shores, though. I'll also second slaughterJ's reccomendation for useing HeroCentral. As far as I can tell, that is the best place to play this sort of game. (Or any sort if you're trying to do email or play by post!)

  24. Odd to me, too. I have rebooted and still nothing but boxes. Thanks for the attempted assist though, Old Man. I guess I'll just have to do without... Has anyone actually mentioned some magic systems or given a URL to theirs? I've only been involved in the Hero System for a few years and building a Magic System from scratch doesn't seem workable to me at this time. I know I'm looking for a Sword & Sorcery type system. I also know that I want wizards to still be playable, though. Does anyone have any suggestions as a method or process to use when hashing out a system (s) for a given campaign? I'm rather overwhelmed by all of the variables and then just sink myself worrying the details.
