    Hero D&D

Re: Hero D&D One of the most fun ways of adapting D&D to HERO is to look at Prestige Classes and turn those into actual professions at 50 pt Package Deals. I actually did that with two of my Fighter package deal submissions--Foe Hunter and Lasher, two drastically different takes on Fighters in general. Feats, on the other hand, aren't that critical to convert--about half are simply specific skill levels and new/improved combat maneuvers. YMMV.
  2. Re: Anybody else having problems? Apparently there's an issue regarding "null characters" in the pipeline when it retrieves your characters--supposidly they come from aborted attempts at character creation, which tends to "pile up" and clog the authentication servers. And this being Free Champions Weekend, you can guess how many tried to come on-line in the same day.
  3. Re: Free Champions Online Weekend! pfff. Only Takofanes can prevent a dozen items/energies embedding themselves in the rear of his pelvis.
  4. Re: List Your CO Heroes! I've only recently got CO, but you can add my brick, Khronos up--I'll have to take another look at the creation screen since I found some more options that I could've used on him. Ah,well--I'll go on over and steal--um, borrow one of Uber-World's colorful individuals, Nordkapp Man as an exercise in character creation and playing with blaster archtypes.
  5. Re: Help naming a campaign NeoSapiens. (Mind you, that's an Exo-Squad reference, but you can have the mundanes run around and call them "Neos." ) Or you can be lazy and call them Ubers--I'm sure Tribe (actual poster) won't mind.
  6. Re: Doll Magic You want creepy? In Leirune there's a rare type of mage called a "Puppeteer" that can use another living person as their scrying object. The kicker is that the victim has several magical gems permanently stuck to their body, including replacing their eyes. This actually erases their will, turning them into virtual slaves of the Puppeteer mage...
  7. Re: Heroes from All Fifty States Mental Note: Must tag that Seminole with my Gator-hero... once I do the artwork and look at his powers again. (Long-standing football rilvary between University of Florida and Florida State. "Choak at Doak" is something you don't want to say around UF Gators.)
  8. Re: Post-Apocolyptic Disney World
  9. Re: My PCs are made of GLASS! Given the Psi's feel, I'd recommend a little deception in the form of Armor(PD)/Mental Illusion, with a Trigger on being attacked and a good Acting skill roll. Basically, a lesser form of Stimulate Death that allows the player the illusion of "almost down" without being unconscious, giving her a bit more protection while fooling the one who hit her (and in turn fooling the bad guys with HIS actions!)
  10. Re: Post-Apocolyptic Disney World I suspect the World Pavilion provides a different sort of arrangement involved when it comes to park maintenance, but it's something to research on, if nothing else. Given Buena Vista, I suspect the World lake was originally a natural lake, inferring to a decentralized ring behind or under the individual Pavilions (given the Matterhorn plans, of course.)
  11. Re: Post-Apocolyptic Disney World Let's not forget the miles and miles of maintenance tunnels under each section of the park grounds. (Like Castle Fantasia, which is the hub for the Magic Kingdom region.)
  12. Re: Wanted: Heroes Most of my heroes would see the answer pretty clearly... throw the homeverse villans into the alterverse, then politely request that the alterverse villans-turned-heroes change their name and looks, if possible. Then go on my merry way, safe in knowing that A) our supervillans are not bothering our universe any more, and we get far better alternates in return. Oh, and destroy the gate-device. No point in messing up the universes any more than needed.
  13. Re: Post-Apocolyptic Disney World I did wonder what Disney World would be like in a post-apocalyptic world, but decided that if the Monorails weren't working, why bother?
  14. Re: Bloodmäter Hrmm, intriguing thought... Too much on my plate to think it over, but I'd recommend waiting a bit for the Brutal Legend game first.
  15. Re: I Need Some Shadow Powers!!! Pluck From The Shadows: Stretching 2", x4 Noncombat, Does Not Cross Intervening Space (+1/4) (19 Active Points); Concentration, Must Concentrate throughout use of Constant Power (1/2 DCV; -1/2) A real quick power, but it acts as a kind of ranged TP using two shadows--you'll want to fine tune this one, but basically, you stick your hand into a nearby shadow and grab something from near another shadow some distance away.
  16. Re: Pirates of not Freeport or the Caribbean Too bad, you'd have liked them. There's not too much that shows either in all their glory in one go, but plenty of clips from both Brave Fencer and Samurai Legend on YouTube.
  17. Re: Pirates of not Freeport or the Caribbean Puzzle Pirates--lots of stuff you can use in your own game just from glossing over the material. (Who wouldn't want to search a haunted island fulled with zombies? ) As for Brave Fencer/Samurai Legend Musashi, those two are Playstation games, but they use a Wushu-like feel with fancy bladework and elemental magics. *hunts up his blurb of a PotC Davey Jones-style character for Cerulean that's worth adding*
  18. Re: Pirates of not Freeport or the Caribbean I suggest looking a little at Puzzle Pirates as a source of inspiration--lots of things to think about there. I've got a little project sitting around called "Pirates of the Cerulean Ocean," which is sorta a mix of the setting of Puzzle Pirates and the style/magic of Brave Fencer/Samurai Legend Musashi.
  19. Re: Microtransaction (Cryptic Bucks) Info Up If you need to see a game with microtransactions in place, try Puzzle Pirates' Dubaloon Oceans. You don't need to pay to play, but accessing some of the content requires Dubaloons, which is a secondary form of currency on those oceans. (They're the ones with green color names.) It doesn't restrict you to playing, really, but eventually you'll want that brig, which requires buying a Badge with the dubaloons. It's a different way of using transactions, but it's a viable method of generating currency at your own rate of progression. (The Suscriber Oceans--blue names--are still worth playing, as the orignal Midnight is still quite lively.)
  20. Re: Metaphysical Question Regarding Therakiel Shadow Hawk is correct in the fact that Therakiel is no longer a true angel OR a fallen angel in any sense of the word--he's the only divine being stuck in between the two worlds and therefore forced to make a home for himself on Earth. (Which is near Vibora Bay, if anyone asks.)
  21. Re: Bloodmäter ...for a moment there, I thought you were running a Brutal Legend game in the Age of Metal. What? The name has an umlaut.
  22. Re: Urban Fantasy 'white event' idea Y'know, the idea of a white event isn't a bad idea... especially when you combine it with an Xanatos Gambit and it hasn't occurred yet. This is what I'm now considering for Eight Sages--there's a metaplot where the centuries pass through cycles--Age of Shadow/Dawn, where the Celestials's mandate reigns, and then it's the Yomi Court's turn, and back... and one Yomi King is hatching a plot to stop the Wheel of Ages, set forth by the two Primordials, Zhu and Ahu (Light and Darkness), once and for all. The trick is to figure out how the board is set up--the current timeframe is the ending of the third Age of Shadow.
  23. Re: Build this Spell... Hrmm... there's a rite used by a secret camp of Silent Striders, called "Eaters of the Dead" that pretty much does this. I'll have to look at it and its mechanics to be sure of what it does, but I think I can make it simpler--all I remember specifically is that the "kuru" condition is actually a strong Wyrm-taint/turning if you eat more brains than the # of points in your Wyrm Lore knowledge. (Conversion project.) Gimme a few days, the body won't be THAT bad after...
  24. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Damnit, woman! How come females get away with less armor than me? (I mostly play on my main, an armored AR/Dev blaster named "Seven of Spades.") BTW, global is @7ofSpades
  25. Re: Make Love, not Warcraft You might want to knock it down a notch--the average Joe & Thok are no more than average specced NPCs. You have to think of adventurers as a finite resource--unlike the game, your Azeroth may have, say, five-six small "companies" that could call a major city like Stormwind their home base. Equate a company to a group of players, and your players automatically are a cut above the average.
