  1. Re: Make Love, not Warcraft Only because there's no skin for it. (I know, I attempted to do it once, but failed because the MPQ wasn't set right.) Anyways... I think of it as a friendly competition--Slithus is already a deadly zone, so why fight each other? I never did any PvP in there, anyways. If you really want to run a game in the Warcraft Universe, I suggest looking into the RPG material instead. There's still plenty of skirmishes, and attempts to disrupt the status quo--you can use it as the backdrop against the larger threats, such as the Black Dragonflight vs Ragnaros which threatens to spill out of Blackrock and into the surrounding lands.
  2. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Ow. Bad priest joke.
  3. Re: I have a setting, but not an adventure! Take a poke at WW's Subsidaries: A Guide to Pentex as a possibility--it's pretty creepy and well worth mining for an espionage-style game.
  4. Re: Villain Campaign: need help If you need help with character psycholgy, consider this: I have a villan of my own--a CoV Mastermind, to be exact--and I've thought about his movitations. First off, he does want to get into the "rule the word" schtick, but he misjudged things and got most of his powers stripped from him and tossed into the Zig. So when Arachnos came, he saw it as an opportunity--use the avaliable resources while scouting out the competition and make plans to take them out. (Including Lord Recluse, but that's a long way ahead, and well worth watching his steps.) A true planner layers his reasons appropriately--and gives a better grip on the character in the game. If you have a choice in doing A or B, and one furthers your plans, you'd find a way to accomplish it even if the other players do the other. Even if it means underminding your comrades. That's behaving like a true-blue villan.
  5. Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week Awww... wish I could give her a hug--emphasis on the "hug", since I have delicate skin. I hope someone uses her in their campaign--and soon. Lots of potential.
  6. Re: Pirate Hero You could've warned me--one of my future projects after BreedWiki was a MediaWiki setup for Pirates of The Cerulean Ocean... but I suppose we'll cross that bridge if it's still there. Toss me a message if you're still interested.
  7. Re: Inflicting Mental Commands on Yourself Granted, SuperGuy's got the home run, but I'll repeat: I need the Computer model to do some mimic VPPs that is required for at least two Gifts anyways, so that's how I did it.
  8. Re: Inflicting Mental Commands on Yourself Yeah, that was the problem with it. But it's in the orignal material; given that the players already have required built-in continual Regeneration, I'd just sit someplace quiet and rest for a bit. SInce I'm just re-building the stuff in the spirit of the orignal, I figured that if there's no clear answer, I can ignore it. But, hey, the Computer answer helped me also solve a pair of mimic powers. These things go into a Framework just so that I can make it feed off an outside END reserve with recovery limitations.
  9. Re: Inflicting Mental Commands on Yourself Hrmm... I'm gonna go with the Computer route, and figure out how to put that into HD2. The TP, while simpler, doesn't work out that well, IMO. The Extra Time thing doesn't wrap too well for me to make it work.
  10. Re: When you hear Urban Fantasy... That is The SIERRAted Edge books.
  11. Re: Summoning Question But if you buy a Follower, and you want to summon it, you'd have to buy a Teleport on top of the Follower costs. I think that's the bottom line here--whether or not it'll work saving costs through a Summoning mechanism.
  12. Re: Inflicting Mental Commands on Yourself To clarify it a bit, it's a power that the raven can trigger when he feels like it--usually when he's dead tired or too badly injured. And the do have natural regeneration like all were-breeds, so it's a matter of being able to trigger it likw a regular power. For the record it's from the Corax breed book for Werewolf: The Apocolypse. (And before you point me to Surbrook's junk, I don't like his method of interpeting the material. That's why I'm doing my own conversion.)
  13. Re: When you hear Urban Fantasy... I usually use "urban fantasy" to mean that the mundanity doesn't know about how magic is still alive in the time and age. The natural default is the modern age, of course. The SIERRAed Edge and Bedlam's Bard books are a good example of that.
  14. I've recently been putting some efforts into my Changing Breeds conversion project via HeroDesigner2, and one power is tripping me up. Specifically, "Swallow's Return", which allows a were-raven to mentally return to "home", aka on autopilot. (And given the definition of "home"... ) Now, technically, you can't make a Mind Control with the "Self Only" limit, and Teleport is nuts due to the disparity of travel times between two different birds... so how would you do it, then? (Credit will be given where apropos.)
  15. Re: Need a new game Ah, classic D&D... may I reccomend the classic Pools of Radiance and whatnot? I still have a fondness for the orignal Neverwinter Nights Gold Box, orignally on AOL. (You can find the Neverwinter Nights Ressurection for the newer NWN, although they may be working on a NWN2 version...)
  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... ...damnit, now I have ideas. Oh well, I'll just shelve it for the next game proposal.
  17. Re: VPP, Shapeshift and You Sometimes you'll want to look outside of a VPP... I only have a sketchy idea on how to write up Element, but you can link Shapeshift to a set of Multipower frameworks, and limit each through a Limited Disad to the shape taken.
  18. Re: Flavor Power for Brick Give him a corona of authority, where it's visible around the head like a lion's mane.
  19. Re: Your "2007" Pet Gaming Projects Put a Luchadore Mask on Prof. Murte, and he's perfect. Anyways... I haven't been able to actually get anywhere on Eight Sages, but since then I've been setting the stage up for a (hopefully) better conversion for White Wolf's Werewolf: The Apocolypse system (especially for the many Breeds out there,) and prepping for a free-form user-imput South Seas-style setting losely based on Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates called Pirates of the Ceruclean Ocean. (Still need to work out some more details, though.) Now if the DNS server will actually transfer over from FuitadNet to Dreamhost for a change, then I can pass out some links.
  20. Re: Eberron Hero Try playing a House member. I've got this human Inquistive-like fellow from House Thrashk (Rune of Finding,) named Task D'Thrashk--you can borrow him. Or... try a shapechanged dragon from the Argonassen--they have their interests in the Prophesy, and you can use that to shape your character's viewpoint.
  21. Re: Vampire the masquerade Personally, I'd choose 2nd Ed., because it's less screwy and has a better defined world-structure. That being said, Hunter was a late edition, so I'd approach it with caution.
  22. Re: Changeling: The Dreaming Hero The whole Yava thing can be seen as adding extra Disads so that the cat can stand better on his/her own two feet out in the world--the Garou have it better with a pack structure, but among the Bete only the Rokea (sharks) and the Mokole (gators) travel in groups by choice. And even then, there's not a lot of non-wolf werekin out there...
  23. Re: Awwwwwww... What a cute little *AAAArrrrrgggg!* Now I like that one! (Mind you, I have a different definition of Vorpal Bunnies. But tiger-buns are still the neatest thing I've seen today. )
  24. Re: Looking for a new cape. Can I get one here? I'd also consider looking at Teen Champions--you can pull it back even further to high school, if you want. There's a whole host of other issues if you want to play it this way; there's already several Teen heroes written up already in the book. (And it's a fine book, too.)
