  1. Re: Giant Hero...What do you all think? I'm currently messing around with Bonyenne Maii to make him useable as a PC--nothing too drastic, but that 105 AP cow summons needs to go. Plus, retrofit a new personality to him and add more Disads. I still need to think about Babe, the big blue oxen, in a way that won't break a 60 AP limit.
  2. Re: New HD File Export I like... Think I'll use this for my characters on my site, too.
  3. Re: Stupid Speedster Trick Nah, I'd stimulate it as a Drain DEX--Earthquake (Heroes of Filmland, UberWorld) has a similar power in his framework that basically does the same thing, and he's not even a speedster.
  4. Re: Is this Steam Punk? FYI, Phil did artwork for GURPS--most notably IOU GURPS, where all the artwork are in his indomitable loopy style. So it would have been quite difficult to get him to shift to a different gaming company...

    The Five

Re: The Five I was thinking (a dangerous pastime, I know ) about using your Bonyenn Maii as a kind of flavor for a giant hero--depending on the main ethnicy of the person who claims it, they turn into a variation of Bonyenn that has inspired legends of that individual. Basically, taking the "Paul Bunyan" aspect and streching it out further--I was thinking quite possibly using the blue ox summons as an ideal "alternate" power swap to use. Given the major ethnic groups (European, Native American, African, Arabic, and Asiatic,) I would identify a possible "cultural hero" that best fits Bonyenn Maii, and make a power that befits that variation to replace the summons, doing this for each group. So far I've chosen Bunyan (default,) The Wild Spirit, and Enki (as the Sumerians became the Arabic subgroup today.) I'll have to rummage through the Asian Besitary for links to a possible Asiatic individual, and some deep foraging will need to be done to find an African hero to fit. What's your opinion?
  6. Re: Has anyone built a HERO version of a Wand Of Wonder? Shrike and Frenchy has my interpetation pretty much right on the nose--I haven't bothered to do the work (too much frappe goin' on,) but it would've been a great exercise in wierdness. I'm looking forward to seeing the table.
  7. Re: Gimme 5 Names! Repped.
  8. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game ...you know better than to use an established character's name... Especially popular ones. Go whoop his butt, and show him how a real ninja does it.
  9. Re: Has anyone built a HERO version of a Wand Of Wonder? If you have the 2nd AD&D book of expanded magic (must find it again)... I'd reccomend using the Wild Magic warp table for simulating the effect of a Wand of Wonder--it's very appropriate regarding what it's intended to do. If I can, I'll do a scan of it.
  10. Re: Code vs Killing, in your group? Another good question regarding CvK is how they are applied to animal supers. Specifically, do their instincts movitate them, or do they strive for higher inteligence? Dinosaur has yet to ge into a serious "Reculant To Kill" situation, but I see him as a "survival-minded" individual. (Granted, if your powers came from mimicing aspects of millenia-dead animals, then you'd be serious about survival. ) I'm actually looking forward to the clash between him and the humans with their CvKs on the team.
  11. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Year 3 I know you said no animal themes, but... well, it isn't a theme per se, just an abnormal desire to see this done... An actual bovine superhero. I was thinking about one of the older Chick-Fil-A calendars, and one of them had cows as unique superheroes in their own rights. (My personal favorite was Cold Cuts, a homage to Iceman.) Would that be a suitble challenge? I would rather see one that isn't in the calendar (of which I can recall each one rather well, and their power, too.)
  12. Re: Chinese Zodiac Team Or a Faun--they're basicaly saytrs with horse bits instead.
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Tribbles like to be petted, and this one has learned the art of convincing people to give him even more pettin's.
  14. Re: Chinese Zodiac Team You can steal my thoughts behind Byakko by making Tiger an actual were-tiger. (I'm considering using his middle form as the groundwork for statting him out, you should too.) Horse makes for a nice speedster--many MAs are devastating in the hands of one. I'd play with the idea and give him cybernetics to give him the horse-feel. Boar is often labled as Pig, if you want to use that distinction. They're often overweight, so Stun defense is a valid choice; you can give him healing abilities as well to further give variety. Or you can move that thought from Ox and replace it with a force-effect EB. In UberWorld, there is also a Chinese Zodiac team that you might want to look up. (Naga is a good Snake subsitute, as well.)
  15. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Really? I7 is out? May be worth taking a look now after these months...
  16. Re: Someone's gotta know the answer to this: Well, I personally have no idea, but... you could do some simple trig to figure it out. Hrmm... Get the speed of both the boat (in calm conditions) and the river in question. This will help us visulize the problem as a right triangle in a larger one. Basically, use the Pythagorian Theorem to get the hypothenuse's length; this is the speed that they're actually going at. Once we do that... we then use the smaller triangle to measure the larger one--just determine the multiple of one side to the distance of the equivilent larger side. I think there's another bit of calculation after this, but I think you don't need it--I have this urge to try and get the distance of all the sides represented.

    The Five

Re: The Five Interesting... I actually like this guy. And servitor of the World Tree? A Child of Rowan, the Ash Knights? Wow, Oborous must be eating away at its roots a bit too much...
  18. Re: Things I've Learned playing a monstrous hero And this was from the GM...
  19. Re: Ben 10 (again!) Actually... check the episode notes for the second season. He gets a 12th form as well. Apparently Ben may become the Hero of a Thousand Faces (if figurative.)
  20. Re: The things I've learned playing a Martial Artist *retrieves thrown DVD and re-throws it correctly at Korvar!*
  21. Re: Things I've Learned playing a monstrous hero Well, the gist of that session was that we were passing through a forest in Cormyr (Forgotten Realms, home of the Purple Dragon Knights,) that was somehow inhabited by a black dragon and his progeny, accompanied by kobolds. (It's actually a great honor to be a half-dragon in kobold society; there's a template for draconics, which is often used as the leaders by stinct of blood. ) We took down a squad of kobold trappers and their monk protector (who was wielding what I called "the GM's option" at that time--a magical +1/+1 cold iron/admantium quarterstaff... ) followed by a trio of young blacks later down the road. It was a blast, to honest.
  22. Re: Western Champions, Redone "Dead Man Walking" Jameston Gravedigger Spirit-That-Walks (Indian undead, seeks to settle a debt of honor/atonement, can't go to the happy hunting grounds until the slate is clean) Other than that... I like. Keep it up!
  23. Re: The things I've learned playing a Martial Artist
  24. Re: WWYCD: Hi! We're your Sidekicks! Dinosaur may very well have progeny somewhere in the Uberverse before he mutated... who knows wether or not they share the same type of mutation? He'll be sizing them up as potential threats before he directs them to Angelus or someplace apropriate. Gators don't look after their kids after they're past 3-6 months, y'know.
  25. Re: Things I've Learned playing a monstrous hero Not true. They make excellent sorcerers--and we even got attacked by a half-black dragon kobold monk.
