  1. Found these on YouTube and thought I'd pass them along--some brief but nifty videos about Golden Age heroes, and one about the British character Spring-Heeled Jack, which according to this page is the "first" superhero. If you're into origin stories, this is for you. FizzFop1 Videos Page
  2. I thought all of the Golden Age MLJ heroes were really cool, and deserved to be remembered in the modern age. Too bad all the attempts to revive them seem to fail.
  3. If The Shield and The Hangman knew how thoroughly they'd be overshadowed by the guy on thier shoulders--would they be smiling so broadly? I wonder. . .

  5. Women's Delegation Assesses United States Gender Equality In short--they found very little.
  6. Doggone it--you had me thinking this was some sort of legendary Australian burlesque queen. Now--I'm disappointed. How disappointed, you ask? This disappointed.
  7. I would change the name, myself. Call him Enforcer.
  8. Sounds like an evil plan to me.
  9. While I'm not a professional physicist or a member of the scientific community, I know there are a number of them here, and would want to attach their names to this-- Letter To SCOTUS From Professional Physicists
  10. Johnny Storm is also not that ordinary. In the comics he was a race car driver; in the first two movies he was an astronaut--professions which require a high level of speed, dexterity, and general physical fitness. He was not just some schmo that happened to be bitten by a radioactive kitchen match.
  11. For The Satanist Who Has Everything--
  12. Angela Merkel Is The TIME Person Of The Year I would like to know what our Deustchlander members think of this choice, as they are undoubtedly more familiar with her than most of us in America.
  13. I will say this--with the fact that Doomsday is going to be an adversary in this movie, Wonder Woman packing a sword and a shield does make much more sense to me.
  14. Not the comics I read--but the Trickster from the original Flash TV series was that psychotic. Not a huge surprise considering how heavily the series was influenced by the 1989 Batman movie, right down to a theme song by Danny Elfman. For myself, I'd like to see the Trickster get his compressed air running shoes. ("Catch me if you can, Flash!":) He should have his cape as well, but especially the compressed air running shoes.
  15. Super Turbo Atomic Ninja Rabbit I admit it--I would have watched a couple of episodes. Maybe even bought a couple of the action figures.
  16. Quite ironic, then, that a Miller-inspired Batman would carry a gun, given this scene-- Granted, we don't know what the weapon fires--it could be some sort of reduced lethality munition. Contrary to opinion, trailers don't tell everything. Sometimes they even lie. We'll just have to see.

  18. I'll take your word for it, as I don't know any Sontaran battle chants.

  20. Hey--when I was little I saw a TV commercial where two cartoon blackheads were wiped out by the Blue Crusader-- a jar of Noxzema face cream. I was inspired to create a hero with that name--all-blue costume with cape and mask flares not unlike Hawkeye, but larger. So you're not the only one to be inspired by household items--after all, what do you suppose this artist was thinking when he came up with this guy?
