I wasn't aware of a rule that says that switching the aided power causes the aid to go away. I could rule this either way: Aid stays as a floating power until switched back or Aid leaves because it is an adder without anything to anchor it. not much potential abuse there unless ... We go to the situation I was referencing. The AID is in a VPP/Multipower and effects are allowed to linger after the power is switched to something other than Aid which is something that is legal in 6th.
  2. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? In response to Stevezilla: Because the combination of Aid and VPP was one of the more abusive things that you could do in the game. Build an aid any Char (1 at a time, 5pts per hr fade) . A character with this could increase all of their stats by 24 active pts in a 60 pt active campaign in less than 2 minutes and keep them that way PERMANENTLY by investing 2 min or so each morning during breakfast. You could then switch your VPP and use as normal. When we switch to 6th that house rule will be one of the first explained to my players.

  4. Re: Thoughts on Breakout rolls. Don't have my books handy but I believe that you are running correctly . Breakout roll is given when power 1st reaches the the target threshold or when it reaches a level the player sets. This can be really powerful but remember the power has no effect until a roll is allowed.
  5. Re: Does this work in 6e? It's legal but I don't think it gets the benefit of the removed KB resistance. Just like draining a defense the attack has to go against the full defense and then subsequent attacks go against the lowered defense. Would still do the knockback of a 12d attack and for the rest of the segment the target has no kb resistance to any other attackers.

  7. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Well , Double XP weekend is almostover. Made lots of lvls got little sleep. Wonder how soon Rikti War Zone/ Vanguard -Ouroboros gets nerfed? Was able to pick up a level an hour on farm teams. @Vincentric mostly on Victory and Protector.( I lucked out and got low traffic servers.)

In my campaigns, we do use an expansion of Normal Char Max and the Real weapon rules to create the feel of supers being invulnerable/superior to normals. 20 pts- Normal char max, no defender exploits allowed, full effect from "real" weapons 10 pts- Real person, offensive effect, extra dc for Martial arts and damage from skill levels affect PCs and NPCs normally but do not work against objects or automatons. defensive effect- 1/4 damage reduction against all normals and real items/equipment. 0 pts - Default Hero setting, offensive effect 1.5 damage/effect vs normals and real world items/equipment.Haymakers vs equipment were at 4th ed 1.5 rulesbut expanded to include all attack. defensive effect 1/2 damage reduction against real world equipment. Assigning these disads are just a matter of campaign flavor. Very few PC's ever took the 20 pt level but it was appropiate for a psychic pc. The Bat clones were at 10 pt level and were effective against mooks and agents but could not karate through cars or bank vaults. The supers had the JLA level of respect from Govt at 12-15 dc instead of 18-20. Never had the great tank debate because the world beaters any real word stuff without major effort.
  13. Re: System cap on creativity That's more your intrepretation of the source material than a flaw in the rules. If your Reed Richards can stretch 20" to either side you can just as easily say he has 40" of stretching and then the rules cover the situation perfectly. You might also want to consider "pushing" . The case with the blast, I would define as variable sfx + rapid fire or autofire.

Re: how to attack end In response to prestidigitator, Drains have always faded in every edition , Power Destruction:eek: (3rd edition) and Aid(when the powers were below starting stat) were the adjustment powers that didn't. On topic you can buy decreased return rate but also look into the +1/4 adv of draining END and REC together.

  18. In response to your answer to Markdoc, I asked this question pre-5er and you gave the opposite answer. I found your reply in the old FAQ under Mental Powers. Is this a change based on new thinking? The old response says quite clearly that a character defends with his current EGO score. No disrespect meant just wanted a clarification.
  19. Re: Meta SFX I think this issue is being attacked from the wrong side and that's mostly caused by the focus on power defense. IMO, more use of limitations on powers and defenses is necessary than making broad sfx rulings. Most of the defenses have problems with sfx being too broad. For example: PD-works the same vs falling, being struck by fist, crushing or tension with no arguments over special effect. ED-fire, electricity, cold, radiation or magic, no difference. MD- Is the most consistent but only because the sfx of the powers is so tight but an EGO attck defined as a siren's song should be different from a neural disruptor from a mindworm. PowD-The reason for this discussion. Broad sfx Adjustment powers are usually the province of high-end one trick pony types (Rouge, Parasite) are plot device godlike beings that must be outwitted, not out fought. The more common purchase such as all powers of x sfx or should be balanced by DEF only vs that sfx rather than adjusting the power mechanic. FD-Just as bad an offender as PowD. Bright light is not the same as pepper spray or a poke in the eyes. Limit the defenses, so it doesn't work against them all, not the attacks which all do the same thing.
  20. At what point in the phase do you go unconcious? Example: The Champions are fighting Mechanon in a dockside warehouse. Mechanon blasts Defender for 67 stun and 19 body doing 17" of knockback as Defender is flying. Defender is unconcious from the blast but at regular recovery. What damage does he take from the 5 body 6 def wall, 11d6 or 11d6 doubled because he is unconscious?
  21. Re: O.m.a.c. The problem is writers sacrificing believability in order to have this "BIG EVENT". Bats is paranoid and I can easily see him building and funding the project, but he would have taken steps to secure it long ago. I can't imagine any of these capabilities being accessible to anyone but him and ANY attempts to compromise his control or security protocols should have raised all kinds of alarms. Don't you think President Luthor would have a field day with this info? Also DC is about to go into X-book territory because the big anti-meta conspiracy will be making attacks on the heros before doing a thing about the rampant villains.
  22. Re: Oihid Megascale is on of the best things to happen to in 5th overall but I hate how it is applied to movement powers. Problem 1- It's cheaper than the old way. This problem was actually caused by 4th Ed and megascale was the 5th fix. Under Hero 1-3, Adders did not affect the END cost of a power. This allowed most characters to take 4-8x times on their movement powers and speedsters to to take 16-64x without raising the END cost to unsustainable levels. Any character who takes Megascale is automatically a speedster. Megascale also benefits excessively from the removal of minimum cost levels in movement powers. Problem 2- The "less control" problem is nonexsistent. Megascale is only 1'" to 1 km by default. If you're willing to accept a slight cost increase set your first breakpoint at 10" and buy scalable. Now you get right where you need to go at hypersonic speeds. Running was always problematical because it has no turn mode by default. The fix I've used, and YMMV, is to make the first level of Megascale cost +1/2 and to start at a straight 10x multiplier. Scalable is free.
  23. Checked the FAQ's and didn't see anything so here goes 1- Gossamer buys an entangle 4 Def and 4 die entangle with Cumlative at base level. If she hits a target repeatedly does she get to add the Body of the entangles rolled until she reaches a max of 8 body? 2- If so can you purchase higher level of cumulative to make the Max Body higher? 3- Could you use this to restore Body to an entangle that has been damaged by an attack? 4-Can you buy personal immunity to your entangle to simulate the following a- The ability of the entangler to affect the target bypassing the entangle while the entangle still stops all other attacks? b- The ability to Pass freely through walls you made with your entangles?
