  1. I don't think anyone has posted about this yet (though I admit I have not looked into the MHI forum.....). So as it has PAH potential (amongst other possibilities) I thought I'd post it here: It'll be coming out on YouTube under the Creative Commons license in November. Apparently it was created by various grad students in their spare time while at CERN working with the LHC. Might be interesting. -Carl-
  2. Hadn't seen any posts about it yet and since it has both Star Hero AND Post-Apocalyptic Hero possibilities, I figured I'd post this here...... -Carl-
  3. Just came across this tonight...Dunno if anyone else has posted about it but I thought that it might have some usage as a Fantasy Hero campaign concept....So I'm sharing it here: -Carl-
  4. Re: Superman Averts World War II? Oooops! Missed that on first pass...... sigh. -Carl-
  5. Re: Superman Averts World War II?
  6. Saw this and had some flashbacks to a Justice Inc campaign I ran many moons ago....except that that dealt with ancient Japanese artifacts found in Columbia but......anyway, I think that this has some gaming potential: http://news.yahoo.com/roman-jewellery-found-ancient-japan-tomb-163550978.html -Carl-

  9. Re: Has anyone built The Doctor from Doctor Who? Somewhere, in a prior post, I saw a copy of a "Gallifreyan package deal" that was (I believe) built back in the 4th edition days. It should be easy to transcribe to 5th.....If I could find it.....Ah HA!! Here it is: http://www.ianm.eclipse.co.uk//ftp/other/HEROpackage.txt Pretty basic by the look of it. But, I think, a decent starting point. The package has such things as the 'respiratory bypass' and such that showed up in the Pertwee era..... There is also this thread from the boards about TARDIS building: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/12322-Building-a-TARDIS And, as someone else already mentioned, there is a reasonable build for the Tennant era Dr at Surbrook's Stuff at this page: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationstv/drwho/drwho10.html and the TARDIS at this page: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationstv/drwho/tardis.html -Carl-
  10. Even though it might be a little late for the "pure" Pulp Era, I still think that this story belongs here.....Some of the images have some really awesome plot hook possibilities, IMNSVHO. http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/unplugged/superman-spider-man-friends-photobomb-history-005141667.html -Carl-
  11. Found this while randomly scanning some YouTube vids.....I see definite gaming potential here!! And, given it's retro-futuristic diesel punk flavor, I'm posting it to this forum......Enjoy! Oh....Note the name of the young hero's school near the end......It made me grin! -Carl-
  12. Re: New players welcome Kiviuq (Skarland Bartlett) -Carl-
  13. This gave me some gaming/plot ideas, so I thought I'd share: http://news.yahoo.com/greek-culture-minister-quits-over-ancient-olympia-theft-084708203.html From the article: "... The police said "bronze and clay objects and a gold ring" had been removed from display cases at the museum, built on a forested hilltop on the outskirts of the small town of Olympia. ..." Hmmmmm. -Carl-
  14. Re: Potential Plot/Scenario Concept -- Lock-Out (AKA MS One: Maximum Security)
  15. I'm putting this here, even though it has some Star Hero aspects...But for me it rings more Dark Champions bells...so...here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J2M-J1OtMs&feature=bf_prev&list=FLA4j6w6ihuYX4Dbudiqi_ZQ& And yes, there are some cliches involved....But then, it's a "big bang and boom" movie so.....shrug. -Carl-
  16. Re: Guided Bullets a reality First thing I thought of when I heard about this: -Carl-
  17. Re: Bring Out The Old! I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned Plasmoid yet.....Definite possibilities, IMNSVHO. -Carl-
  18. Here's the basics: I'm working on building an agency which initially began in Japan but has since spread worldwide. Campaign-wise it's a merger of several concepts, most notably the "science police" and "super sentai" genres. I'll be stealing much from the Zen team builds that already exist.....Anyway, the organizations name/acronym is SPECTRUM. What I'm looking for/hoping to find is something that fits the agencies style and that could, in it's original Japanese, spell out SPECTRUM (or it's Japanese equivalent....which my Translation Fu is still searching my English to Japanese dictionary for.....). Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help. EDIT: Yep....I misspelled "assistance" in the post subject......sigh. -Carl-
  19. Re: Strike Force and Space Gamer #51 A thread tangentially related: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/41788-NPC-s-From-Old-Space-Gamer-Modules?highlight=space+gamer+modules And you might want to look at this: http://www.mactyre.net/october/HEROCHAR/KNOCKS11.ZIP it's found here: http://www.mactyre.net/october/HEROCHAR/Files.html It might have some of what you are looking for. -Carl-
  20. Just came across this tonight...If it has already been mentioned apologies for the repost....Definite gaming potential though, both for Pulp Hero and for Golden Age Champions...But since it struck me as more Pulp related.....enjoy! -Carl-
  21. Re: Galactic Champions: Federated Super Teams Nice! -Carl-
  22. Re: Golem For a look at how someone else built a "Crystal Golem", take a look here: http://surbrook.devermore.net/original/creatures/crystalgolem.html NOT that that is the only way to build such a thing...As always, the HERO System allows for almost infinite variation(s). So YMMV. -Carl-
  23. I'm toying with (in other words, doing a conceptual build) in 5th Ed for a pair of Teen Champions who team up. One is an electrically based energy blaster type and the other is a telekinetic. And just as with many "super duos" they develop some tactics to use in combat. Which leads to the "how to build" part: They'd call the tactic: "Missed me! (Oh no we didn't!!)" (or some such phrase) It would have the effect of the electrical blaster firing a bolt "away from" the target but then the telekinetic "redirects it" onto the target.... It's pretty obvious that the EB would potentially need some level of "Indirect" attached to it. And maybe the TK would be a slot for "Missile Deflection/Reflection" in a multipower....And that both would "Require A Power Skill Roll" and almost certainly a "Teamwork" roll....It's the combining of them all that has me (temporarily at least) a bit befuddled. Thoughts? Thanks. -Carl-

    Evil Fey

Re: Evil Fey Here's a version of The Bogeyman: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/myth/childhood/bogeyman.html and for more from the world of Fae and such....take a look here: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/myth/myth.html As always, the links here may not look anything like the creations in your (or your GM's) campaign....YMMV, etc..... -Carl-
  25. Re: Combining post-apocalypse and accidental uplift Hmmmmm....I am struck with the idea of this: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/movies/dark_seeker.html or this: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/movies/infected.html or just maybe one of these: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/movies/livingdead.html http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/fiction/solanum_zombie.html confronting a modified version of this: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscomic/mno/mnoaxewell.html (yeah, Axewell Tiberius is a bit much....But it's the only intelligent ape link I could find on short notice.... ) And potentially some "immune humans" stuck in the middle..... I kind of like it! -Carl-
