  1. Veterans can push for gun reform, school studants can push for gun reform, but we all know what will happen in the end.
  2. Nayonets on handguns are fine bit it needs more knuckle duster handle as well !
  3. Naughty "starblaze" ! That is hardly the Amelia Earhart mystery that most people are interested in. Tsk, tsk !
  4. Recently read a "Doc Savage" novel "Haunted Ocean". Not the best one I have ever read, but any "Doc Savage" is O K with me !
  5. Saw the new version of "Tomb Raider" last night. I quite liked it with the lead actress (Vikander) doing a good job as a young Lara Croft. It looks to me as if they are setting up for a sequel with hints being dropped about her family that look like obvious plot hooks.
  6. Great to see San Francisco targeting obvious needs in free agency . Centre, running back, cornerback all needed upgrading and they have done something about those positions (also pass rusher). Now if they can improve their linebacking corps and get a wide receiver with a bit of height (who can catch the ball) in the draft fans like myself can look forward to more improvement next year. P S Need another inside lineman as well it seems.
  7. Er How about "Courageous Cat" from the cartoons ?
  8. I found a couple of more obscure characters "The Blue Leopard" (an enemy of "Tiger Man" from Atlas comic)s and" Cat Girl" an enemy (and sometimes ally) of Archie's :The Jaguar".
  9. "Catman" and "Catseye" (D C villains) and "Pantha" (from "New Titans"), and don't forget "Mr. Talky Tawny" from the old "Captain Marvel" (Fawcwrr) comics.
  10. I read somewhere that Warners is talking about dumping the "extended universe" setting in favour of a series of disconnected films. Ot will be interesting to see what the Aquaman and Shazam films are like.
  11. I have mentioned (I think) that a pulp officionado should not neglect "Young Adult" fiction while searching for a good adventure story and i've found an interesting series that (for me) qualifies as "neo pulp" (right sort of adventure but in a modern setting). That is the "Kitty Hawk " series by Iain Reading.
  12. "Knaris2000" The Rohmer story is "Case Of The Veil Of Isis" featuring Moris Klaw.. It was good to read a couple of the stories that featured FEMALE occult detectives (Diana Marburg and Sheila Crerar , not names I had heard of previously).
  13. One of the problems seems to be the term "assault weapons". We need a definition of what is an assault weapon,. My suggestion for a definition of what to ban would be "any semi automatic long arm with an external or detachable magazine". That wouldn't ban every semi automatic rifle but it WOULD catch a heck of a lot of them (A R 15,Byshmaster,Armalite, DPMS and others)
  14. "Kitty Hawk And The Curse Of The Yukon Gold" by Iain Reading. Juvenile fiction featuring a teen aged pilot set in Canada and Alaska.
  15. Ickle Donnie wants his big military parade. He probably wants a nice new military uniform covered in medals and to be addressed as "supreme leader" as well.
  16. But does that mean that we won't believe you ?
  17. I'm currently reading "The Weiser Book Of Occult Detectives" (Judika Illes ed). Many of the stories are early (nineteenth century) but the later ones (World War 1 and later) certainly fit my definition of "pulp".. Several well known writers such as Conan Doyle and Sax Rohmer but with stories featuring characters OTHER than the ones for which they are famous.
  18. I think that that is the book I am reading at the moment ,except that my copy is titled "Under The Moons Of Mars" John Joseph Adams (editor). Stories by such writers as Peter S Beagle,S M Stirling and Chris Claremont. I agree with you about the John Carter/Tarzan story.
  19. A couple of television series to consider "Relic Hunter" (female "Indiana Jones" type character searches for mystic artifacts, modern day setting) and "Ripping Yarns" (A parody of the "boys own" adventure stories that were common in Britain in the pre war period).
  20. Not odd at all . (I.m annoyed with myself that I didn't think of that one ).
  21. I always imagined that, for every superhero who dons spandex and fights crime, there are other people with super powers who have powers that are better suited to repairing things or people, who work in jobs where their powers are useful but shun publicity.
  22. I like "Cassandra's" suggestion of "Featherweight". Someone who is not so much of a brick but who has some form of super speed punch. ?
  23. Dear me "Hermit" saying that Trump is "am uncultured swine: is very insulting. Any swine. cultured or otherwise, should feel highly insulted to have Trump included in their ranks !
  24. Trump is still bragging about his I Q . Hasn't anybody told him that REALLY smart people don't have to brag about their I Q, and that I Q tests only measure potential ?
